Brad Hill had way more upside when he was hired than this guy.  He won a NC and 9 straight conference championships.  Yeah, it was D2....so what?  Brad Hill was not a 2.  That’s just wrong.
lol. K. He sure as hell turned out to be a 2. You think recruiting D2 kids equates to recruiting D1 talent? Because it doesn't. They have half the resources and half the scholarships.

So a D2 coach should never get a chance at a D1 school?  I don't understand that logic.  Hill did win the big12, which is 1 more championship than Hughes has ever won at a P5 school.  I'm sure you didn't think he was a 2 after that season.  It turned out that way, but in 2013 he looked pretty good.  You are fair to criticize him for not taking advantage of that season.  Looking back, we should have fired him after the 2016 season.

I'm not trying to fight over this, but I just don't see how Hughes has any upside at all.  He is a 5 IMO.  He may well turn out to be a great hire, but there is nothing to suggest that is the case from what I see at this time.

Please tell me you think the 2014-2017 Big 12 was tougher than the 2006-2013 Big 12? HOLY crap.

I'll answer for you, the Big 12 was waaay better then, and OU was damn good in it under other coaches, then OU sucked ass under Hughes in an easier conference.

We don't need to go down this rabbit hole anymore. I hope Hughes wins, I really do, and it's not hard to see that he could after a few years, maybe. We shall see. Go Cats.

We switched out TCU for A&M and they've already made a WS.  :dunno: We sucked so bad during those years, I never paid attention to it, and I was broadcasting half the games for the student station. How can tell how good teams are when your own team gets clobbered by everyone?

Umm, don't those numbers show the big 12 was damn good in 07-10? Like, current SEC levels of good?

Also, Texas won it all in 2005, and 70% of the Big 12 teams made the NCAA's in 2006 in you're including 2018 to help.

Anyway, no point in arguing it now. I effed up and meant that the former Big 12 was better, didn't mean to drag it into 2013. So I screwed up that argument and wave the white flag.

It’s all good, man. A HC in college baseball is the most wtf can happen situation of all time. You recruit kids who you think are good, they might leave for the draft or not, and if not, somehow they turn into suck. It’s legit the hardest coaching job out of all of the sports. I just don’t think record scores are worth it. Their main job is recruiting and baseball is dominated by the pitcher on the mound.

It's easier now for a fledgling coach to BS their way into a job at KSU than it was for RP to win over Wefald with Negro Leagues baseball talk.
