IF (and that's a big if), that's their best hire since Mangino. He may/may not get things turned around, but he'll create a culture conducive to winning and should be able to recruit reasonably well by KU standards. It'll be interesting to see what he does offensively. But, at a minimum, he'll be way cheaper than Miles and way more competent than Beaty.
