This may or may not be related, but there is a downside to all of this. I have a few buddies who are brothers and grew up in Ashland, KS. Their family are successful ranchers. They are both looking ahead to a prosperous life, but are desperate to find a girl while in Manhattan. That's because when they move home their options will be between bucktooth Sally and using Farmers Meet (which we know is full of gold diggers). So it might seem glorious, but it aint all glitter and gold.

Grey County was the only county, thus far, that had feral hogs show up to their county fair.

I was just amazed that the largest city in an entire county has a population of 853.
Dighton, the motel there has a gigantic room with 4 beds and tv's in two corners. Very spacious. Also, there is a bar and they have rocky mountain oysters.
853 is a lot of people compared to many Kansas towns.
drove through Olpe the other day and their sign boasted like 250 people. I think they still have a high school. WTF is the point when Emporia is less than 10 mikes away?
