you know, wacky, paying a professional a couple hundred dollars to do your taxes is really worth your time
Yeah, I did it last year and the year before that. Just being stingy I guess. Classic Wacky.

you're costing yourself money, that's not being stingy

This X1000.  It's really not even that expensive compared to the value.

We pay about $500 for someone to file our business and personal returns.  Best money I spend each year.

My girl last year told me not to file married for 2016. Should I change that now to Married and 0 or married and 1- married dudes?

On the exemptions line, you check the box next to "yourself" and "spouse" and then type 2 in the box that says "add the numbers from above".

Is that what you mean by 0 and 1? It's 2 if so.

i'd guess wacky's taxes are super easy.  there's no need to pay someone for normal taxes.

mine will be much more complicated next year, but i'll probably still do them myself.  i like understanding how to do stuff.

Wacky, when you say "my girl last year told me not to file married for 2016" are you talking about for your 2015 return? Were you married in 2015?

The problem with paying someone to do them, and maybe it's that I've not talked to the right person, but they are super stingy on deductions and expenses and such.

Yes, my tax lady for my 2015 taxes told me that. She knew I was getting married in 2016 and said to stay single through work until 2017.

Possibly meaning your W4 status?

What are you using for this year's return? Any software or are you just filling out a Form 1040 on your own?

And yeah, she probably was talking about your W-4 at work for tax withholding. That is different than filing status.

Yes, Mrs. Wacky was using Turbo Tax. I'll just reach out to her, guys. I'm a big dumb animal and I don't mean to exhaust it in this thread. Thanks!

don't listen to the advice to do turbo tax, do listen about going to an actual professional.  turbo tax will get your taxes done but you'll have no way of knowing if you got everything you should have.  i mean your wackycat08 for crying out loud.

Yeah, for someone in wacky's life stage and income situation, he shouldn't need to pay someone. But it's wacky so he probably should.
