AsU picked 7th in Pac 12, nothing special. Attempting 32 three's (made 15) direct result was nothing in paint and no free throws. Typical Oscar loss

Offense was not the problem.

So much for the great defense.

Wade is still soft. Won't drive in critical situation. Had an opening to drive the lane but passed back to Brown.

The first time since advanced stats (2002) that a K-State team has scored 1.3 ppp or better and lost.

Wade has to score more and Diarra had some really dumb TOs.

I forgot how much Basketball officiating pisses me off.

Also, screw Kodi Justice, cocky punk.

If it’s on TV, I will watch every ASU game from now on just waiting for his clock to get cleaned.

2nd half, Wade had layup attempt off a nice pass. Initiated a little contact. Missed the layup off the glass. About 20 seconds later, their big had almost exact same scenario, but he finished and drew the foul on Dean.  This kinda summed up Wade's poor 2nd half where he was on the bench in foul trouble or on the court doing nothing after Halftime.

When you allow 18 2nd Chance pts and grab only 7 Defensive Rebounds (what we did after Halftime), it's a huge recepie for disaster.    Combine that with our fouls, refs calling tight game, and their 18-31 FT shooing in the 2nd....and you have a very poor Defensive statsheet

refs were crap...worst one was the wainwright blockout foul...but this game also shows that we have nothing close to Westicles on defense...

Man, this is absolutely perfect.

They gave him the ball at 91-90 and was no threat to score, didn't even try, that's inexcusable.

That's been his game since day 1. I wish we had a coach to get him aggressive. So much wasted potential there.

I corrected the individual stats above. Wade's involvement was poor. He should never be under 10 points per 100 possessions he plays.

With out the foul trouble he is flirting with a triple double. Dean and Sneed need to stay on the court for defense and rebounding.

I think we will be fine, defense will get cleaner specially the benches D. The issue is the margin for error with our schedule is so small.

Fan, thanks for the stats.
Rebounding and fouls in the second half.
And the foul trouble on Wade, Sneed and Mawien.  Mawien fouled out in 14 minutes and he was out most effective inside player tonight.  Sallah and Stockard were no match for ASU's big men.

Claws had 7 assists, seems like these were in the 1st half.  Again when plays timid due to fouls kind of poor.  There are some positives, mainly guards and Sneed.  Meats have to do better.  Romello White beat their drum like a thunderstorm.   Diarra ain't ready to be first guard sub, Wainright is my pick.  Fan why did we foul so much?  I listened and it has to be more than poor refs.  Sounds like rebound positioning lessons are needed.  Hope to have better defense against next team.

Wade really does need to get some swagger ASAP. He’s a liability out there when he’s timid.

Fan, The 124% free throw rate in the second half caught my attention.  What exactly does that stat mean?  Thanks

Never mind.  I found the definition.  I think we had our work cut out for us to win this game since so many of the fouls came on us trying to get rebound position.  I quess we're slow learners.
"FTr = (FTA / FGA). Free throw rate is the ratio of free throws attempted per field goal attempted. It's useful to assess where the bulk of a player's shots are coming from -- low ratios usually indicate a lot of jump shots (fouls are less prevalent the further away from the basket you get), while high rates are the province of inside players who often take strong shots in traffic down low.

i mean, brown, wade, and stokes are only juniors. i think by the time these guys have some meaningful game experience and their legs under them next year, another play-in game is within reach

3 point shooting this season is encouraging. attempting 23/game this year at 41%, vs 19/game and 36% last. 2 years ago it was 18/game at 31% :sdeek:

as far as % of the fg attempts, 3 pointers are making up 40% of the attempts, vs 36% last year and 31% 2 years ago. in hoiberg's last year, 37% of their shots were 3's (making them at 36%). golden state 37%, houston 53% :surprised:, spurs 29%, cavs 37%, okc 36%.

oscar weber is keeping up with the times. if we can keep this up or at least shoot 37% at a high volume, good things will happen
