How could a room full of journalists NOT ask what his thought process was on not going for it and kicking the field goal.  How does that not get asked?  That's the only reason I listened, and NO ONE asked it.

Everyone of those people should be fired.

OBz said it was obviously the wrong call.  There's your explanation.

I guess I did not hear that on the post game.  I knew the explanation would be along those lines, but I just couldn't believe that wasn't the first question.

“The options were run the ball or throw it or kick the field goal,” said Snyder, who called a timeout before Cantele’s kick. “Obviously, the field goal was the wrong thing to do. It was one of those choices.”

He was so happy when he made it. The fact that he was that excited for making a game tying 37 yard field goal kind of scared me. Bill, does that scare you?

I thought it was over the top, but if he needs to get pumped up like that to make kicks, then more power to him.

I assumed that we called the TO because Snyder changed his mind about going for it. This was obviously an incorrect assumption.

I did as well. I am stunned that no one either said or could convince Snyder that the best outcome there was giving TCU the ball back with 90 seconds left in a tied game. They have one of the best QBs in the country, the best receiver, and possibly the best kicker with all three TO's, what could have possibly gone wrong?

Well that cleared up everything.  :dubious:

I can tell this loss hurt, especially knowing playcalling lost the game for us two weeks in a row.

I wish Dimel was up there instead of Bill.  :shakesfist:

I hated the call for the obvious reasons, but also because of Cantele's record under pressure. I think he knew it too and was just happy to get that monkey off his back. He didn't win the game, but a miss would've lost it.

surprised he doesn't have a tape measure in his hand. Less than 37 inches and we go with it. Anything at 37 or more and we are kicking it.

Exactly. Furthermore our job is to attempt to get an answer, not be confrontational and emotional as a function of venting frustration. In fact, I took the mic from a young reporter who was about to react this way and thus get destroyed by Snyder, get no usable answer and damage his relationship with a source he needs.

As someone who doesn't pay attention to or care about other local media, isn't that a fairly standard attitude for sports "journalists"? Are there markets that go hard after college coaches? I genuinely do not know

As I understand it, it's part of a reporter's job to remain neutral and obective. So, essentially that person (presumably Fitz) is saying, "It's not that we can't do our jobs because we're ignorant, it's that we can't do our jobs because we're too emotional." I don't know which is worse.

I really just liked the heroic tale of him physically taking the microphone from someone at the last minute to thwart disaster.
