Maybe we could all agree that papa john's makes an ok, middle of the road pie. Not awful, not great. Good for a moving party.

I think the fact that the best things about Papa John's are the pepper and garlic butter that come on the side is pretty telling.

Deep dish can be very good but I view it more like lasagna than pizza when I eat it.
