Do we still have that streak of being over .500 in home games for like the last kabillion seasons? If so, that's gotta be gonezo this year, right?
-
oscar has a plan.
-

actually, i believe we've already guaranteed adding another glorious year to the longest and most impressive streak in collegiate athletics. maybe we still need one more win.
-
As bad as we suck this season, it just seems like this would be a justified cherry on top.
-

Agreed. Hope we somehow keep it alive, though.
-
someone please check on this and post whether this is an attainable goal to finish the season or not. i tried, but couldn't easily determine which games were home v neutral on espn.com so i gave up.
-
We have 16 homes games. We currently have 8 wins. Looks like that ISU game could be big.
-
is the streak for winning home record or non-losing home record?
-
Non-losing
-
so we should be popping champagne then?
-
we're never gonna get this monkey off our backs.
-
Non-losing
Not true, it's winning, straight from the media guide
-
Well I'll be damned
-
Looks like The Streak got us on CBS.
-
Non-losing
Not true, it's winning, straight from the media guide
Post what it says now. I recall them vanishing all the stuff about it years ago and never knew they brought it back.
-
Never mind, I found it.
Kansas State has enjoyed 73 straight seasons with a winning record on its home courts. The streak has spanned four arenas and 10 head coaches. Since the streak began in 1946 at Nichols Gym, the program has an impressive 796-209(.792) mark at home.
They're still omitting the parts they used to promote about that being the record.
-
And eff, if it goes down this year, it'll be at the hands of mold aggie. :frown:
-
this is exactly the kind of drama that the season has lacked so far. wow. can't wait for our next home game.
-
Just did some looking at home records during Wooldridge and Asbury's coaching days:
Asbury
-------------------
94-95 9-5
95-96 9-4
96-97 9-6
97-98 12-2
98-99 12-2
99-00 8-7
Wooldridge
-------------------
00-01 8-7
01-02 12-5
02-03 11-5
03-04 12-4
04-05 13-5
05-06 13-4
Asbury tried really hard to ruin the streak. I'm actually surprised Wooldridge wasn't ever close to ruining the streak sans his first year with the mess Asbury left him. oscar is really playing with fire here.
-
Wooly had some truly terrible non-con home schedules and the benefit of the Big 12 North.
-
for those of us not following along at home, what is our home record?
-
8-7 w/ ku and isu left.
and baylor
-
my gosh, flood aggie is 0-9 on the road :blah:
-
my gosh, flood aggie is 0-9 on the road :blah:
OMG AMAZING NEWS FOR THE STREAK!!! :Woot:
-
do our guys have any fight left to keep the 2nd greatest streak in sports alive? (first is obvs the big 12 football draft streak which may also come to an end :frown:)
-
my gosh, flood aggie is 0-9 on the road :blah:
:surprised:
-
this is so exciting.
-
We're going to beat the squawks

We're going to beat the squawks
God damnit. That would be so oscar.
-
We should petition the big 12 to commute the rest of De Sousa’s suspension
-
last night is going to reignite the age old debate of whether losing these meaningless roadies becomes a habit we can bring back home or if we'd have been better off taking a win and getting it out of our system.
-
Someone good at math run the odds of losing 9 games in February given Big12 Saturday format. 1/28 just to get 5 Saturdays? oscar continues to beat the odds.
-
When was K-State's last 8 game losing streak? FWN.
-
:crossfingers:
We're going to beat the squawks
-
only a complete moron would think we will beat ku. (no offense mir)

The potentially historic game next week isn’t even on tv. :frown:
-
man, we did it. one game to go with everything on the line.
-
Mold aggie will come into Manhattan 0-10 on the road this season. If oscar is going to destroy 3/4 of a century of history, he's going to do it in the shittiest way possible.
-
Mold aggie will come into Manhattan 0-10 on the road this season.
just an incredible matchup. you couldn't write this any better in a movie.
-
IMPORTANT:
D.Scott put out a tweet and story asserting The Streak is already dead, citing that KSU is 6-7 at home so far this year and can't achieve a winning home record by beating ISU on Saturday.
K-State, which entered the day in last place in the Big 12 and two games behind Oklahoma State, has not only assured itself of becoming the first team in Big 12 history to win at least a share of the regular-season title one year only to finish last place in the league standings the following season, but K-State has now ended a streak at home spanning nearly three-quarters of a century.
And that is tough.
K-State, behind a 6-7 record this season in games played in Manhattan, and with only the regular-season finale against Iowa State remaining, is assured of not posting a home winning season for the first time in 74 years — a streak that began during the 1946-47 season and spanned three different arenas — Nichols Gym (1946-50), Ahearn Field House (1950-88) and Bramlage Coliseum (1988-present).
KSU's site lists KSU as 8-8 at home currently. I went through the schedule and found that count properly excludes the 2 exhibition home wins, but does include the "home" loss to St. Louis in KC. The site lists an 0-3 neutral record representing the 2 L's in Florida and 1 in NJ.
KSU's record in the fOOD this year is actually 8-7, meaning The Streak is still completely on the line vs. mold aggie. Am I missing something or is D.Scott drunk again?
-
The definition of "home" court -- much like knees -- is tricky.
-
d scott is trying to steal this moment from us. eff off, d scott.
-

That is 1000% obvious.
-
Holy crap we are 2-14 in the b12

If that is true, they need to fire the coach.
-
-
wacky is cool with <20% win percentages
-
Nah, we just lost 3 of the top 15 scorers in our programs history after winning our second league title under oscar since 1977. We have the GOAT of recruiting classes coming in too. I think I can give him a break this year. I'm rational.
-
I think pretty much everyone is totally fine with taking the bad with the good (seasons). I am.
-
If he's under .500 next season, he should "retire".
-
If he's under .500 next season, he should "retire".
No way. Conference Championship just last year. On top of that, there's GRCOAT lite.
-
It all comes down to Saturday.
-
biggest game for oscar since????????????
loyola?
(we lost that game btw :frown:)
-
Did you guys ever figure out the current, true home record this year? I've seen competing figures.
-
currently 1 game over is what my sources at ESPN are telling me. the nation watches the purple palace (formerly the octagon of doom) this saturday in Farmaggedon II: Lost in New York
-
has anyone actually verified that our streak is legit? I'm dubious that this is the first time in 70+ years where the distinction between home and neutral courts is not being recorded accurately.
-
oscar is the menopause of college coaches.
-
has anyone actually verified that our streak is legit? I'm dubious that this is the first time in 70+ years where the distinction between home and neutral courts is not being recorded accurately.
I wouldn't be concerned about this with respect to how monumental saturday is.
The lone discrepancy, aside from D.Scott not being able to count basketball results as carefully as he counted beauty and the beach boobs, is the non-fOOD "home" game. Those weren't even things that took place for most of The Streak, and there's been so few times when 1 game would've made a difference in extending it.
Whether there's been errors in the past and even if they mattered, KSU has committed to The Streak being alive and under any measure, Saturday's result will determine if it ends.
What's more damning is that if it ends, it will be to a mold aggie squad that hasn't won on the road even once this season. Rock bottom.
-
hey, we have an exhibition game today! final tuneup.
-
i don't know if we'll break the streak saturday, but i know we've done everything we could to put ourselves in position. we're ready.
-

Pretty sure our incoming class is 4th or 5th in the conference
-
the stage is set
-
one streak dies, a new streak is born. How many P5 teams go on a losing streak of STRA11GHT games? Its a circle of life, i guess is what i'm saying.
-
I've never simultaneously been so nervous and not given a eff about anything this much before in my life. It's like there is both everything and nothing riding on this streak!
-
What if the streak has been holding cat basketball back?
-

Which would still be a huge improvement from his Claws class that won a big 12 championship and broke another streak.
-
yeah i get all excited when i see vids of guys like Selton Miquel coming in, with all the swag he has. then i realize that oscar clashes with those guys and he'll probably transfer away in a year or 2.

no matter how this turns out, they're still iowans.

-
brought up that we'd play in the first day of the big 12 tournament.
-
Oh yeah, we clinched that a while back. Thought maybe they expanded on the shame of that day.
-
i don't know how we managed to have a worse record than iowa state, they're terrible.
-
Long live the streak!
-
sneed on pace for 52 at half rofl

This is like when OBz's career came down to beating mold aggie.
-
it does not surprise me that we're rough ridin' this up. jfc, this team.

Sneed is passionate about the streak.

At least there's D.Scott's apology to look forward to.

If this craptastic team can preserve #TheStreak, it's a really stupid accomplishment. What's KU's relative streak?

Well, for starters, it’s less.

The squawks relatively recently put together a jarring streak of 2 consecutive seasons with losing records at home from 1961-1963, just a few years after the 58-59 edition limped to .500 at home.
Kansas State's The Streak is one of the most untouchable records in sports.

The team somehow avoided the script from the last 2 months that produced the worst season since Gardner built the progam in 1947, dumb eff. Get the so-so recruits in and fire this incompetent loser.
-
-
“So-so recruits” or GRCOAT. Same thing....
-
How long will it be before there’ll be nobody on earth who was alive when The Streak began?
For purposes of this thread, ignore any prospect of the world dying in the next few years from coronavirus flu.

christ, imagine being a fan of a team with such recent awful results. like, your parents were probably old enough to have witnessed that first hand. not for me.

Given THAT history, it's especially crazy that they haven't torn down their piss barn and replaced it with a fancy modern octagon.
-
I was in London last year and the black cab driver guy asked me about the streak when I told him where I was from. He said, “Gavin, how big of a deal is the streak?” And I said “Well, for starters, it’s as big as it is long. Which is extremely.”

Now that we don't have to be so stressed about fundraising at FattyFests, maybe we should start incorporating a celebration of The Streak. Will there be fire code issues at Mae's if we're bringing in a cake with 74 (and counting) candles?
-
In answer to fire code violations at Maes I think the answer is yes. And that’s before considering the cake and candle factor

Some of us olds remember the roughly 300,000 lit cigarettes in there every night before the smoking bans.

on reflection, i don't think that this team ever really had it in them to break the streak. they were a fraud.

It's more of a reflection on how powerful The Streak is than on how shitty this year's team was. Hope we see you at the celebration this September-ish.
-
There are 2 paths of egress at Mae’s, no problems with fire code

In a post fatty fest fundraising world, I thought we were going to save up our gE money and pay KSU cats players advertising money. is that still on?

We can swing it. $100 gets us a decade+ of candles.

I think we're better this year than last. Today's loss hurt, looking at the schedule I have us at 8-9 for the season. After Colorado on Friday, the home noncon is filled with dogs. Iowa State and TCU will be crap, we'll beat OU again. Better hope that Big 12/SEC Challenge game vs. A&M gets corona'd.
-
A lot of people melted down yesterday. Am I: 1. Vacation mode, don’t care, on the beach for 10 days 2. Knew Drake was a good team, so yeah, it was going to be a challenge. 3. Immune to shittiness, because oscar developed me this way or 4. All of the above?

Ultimately it was fine, you can find reasons to be hopeful, if that's what you want, you can also find reasons to meltdown. I don't know how much you can really draw from the first game from a bunch of freshmen and sophomores who couldn't even scrimmage 5-on-5 until last Thursday.

haven't paid attention to college bball stuff - do they have an abbreviated schedule with mostly just conference games this year?

It doesn't seem that way but who knows

They play until it’s too shameful to. Going to be very difficult to predict The Streak outcomes.
-
it'd be pretty neat to break the streak with an asterisked covid season.
-
haven't paid attention to college bball stuff - do they have an abbreviated schedule with mostly just conference games this year?
They can only play a maximum of 27 games, you have to play a minimum of 13 for tournament consideration.

Is oscar trying to get fired?
-
My 8-9 prediction had this as a loss, I gotta say though, I think this team will be better than I thought. These guys can shoot, they couldn't guard a biddy ball team, but that's much easier to fix than poor shooting.
-
i haven't looked at the schedule, but i assume there's a bunch of small-timey teams coming in? problem is that they might be more likely to be ravaged by covid, and so those games cancelled. this might come down to whether we count games where the other team cancels as forfeits/Ws.

Yeah, we're entering a stretch of winnable noncon games, and a conference game against ISU, who is also assy, on like the 15th or something like that.
-
we should be able to go out and get that first dub of the season tonight against umkc
saturday we're home against unlv. unlv hosts unc tonight at 6, so we can scout them before our game and see wtf to expect.
then milwaukee who sucks (former almost ksu cats coach turned bet welcher doug gottlieb's dad coached there, also former almost cats coach oscar pearl)
butler non-chipped got virussed up and postponed then ya, iowa state in the 12/15 walking taco pak of america USA
we should have at least two dubs by the time we play iowa st. the road to two wins starts tonight, tune in :Carl:
-
UNLV are dogshit. Montana State beat the hell out of them.

i'm really not convinced we win tonight, trying to be positive in my earlier post

if kstate extends the streak on the back of a d2 win, it will be the most shameful and embarrassing episode in our long history.
-
If we extend The Streak this year, The Streak will automatically be over because this is a fake pandemic season. Better to not try to extend it in the fake pandemic season so that it will be kept alive and we may resume trying to extend it next year.
-
We’ve learned the schedulemakers read gE.
-
A ton of D1 schools are playing D2 and D3 teams this year. Sadly I don't think FHSU is going to save the streak, which is just perfect because there are a lot of shitty teams, much worse than this one, that have kept it going.

kstatesports has already listed us as 1-4 overall and 1-4 at home.

Those count, there are no exhibitions.
Tennessee State, a D1 school from the Ohio Valley Conference, which is a decent conference, is currently playing not only an NAIA school, but a Division 2 NAIA school with 350 students and not in a conference. The school is named Crowley's Ridge College and they are the same level as Haskell Indian College. Only down 8 in the second half.

4-5 in the fOOD now.

I think we're gonna keep it alive! :excited:

I don't think so. If we play and win the game against A&M, that means we'll have to go 4-4 the rest of the conference games just to get to .500

I think they have to go at least 6-2 the rest of the way to not lose The Streak.

I feel like I called this a done deal like a month ago.
-
And now they've lost their home game against the shittiest or 2nd shittiest team in the league.
-
And now they've lost their home game against the shittiest or 2nd shittiest team in the league.
The streak is over bro. I'm glad this game is postponed, they shouldn't have played the OSU game either. I'm sure this will get rescheduled at the end of the year, there is a week and a half of no games to accommodate for rescheduling.
Tough break for flood aggie, this was their only chance left to get a W. Since I knew the streak was over 6 weeks ago and I've come to terms with it, I'm more invested in ISU going 0 for the conference season.
-
So should we FWN or wait until it's official official or give him the whole season?
-
So should we FWN or wait until it's official official or give him the whole season?
Yeah, absolutely. Since we're in fantasy land we should also go pick up the hope diamond and sell it for matching flying cars.

_Fan introduced a near kill shot metric of oscar's player retention on KSO.
A terrible look at non regular Top 25 recruiting/non 1 and done program and for a coach whose success is wholly derived from having veteran teams.

So only 10 out of 34 recruits have completed their eligibility?

and 4 of those 10 were transfers that really had no other option but to finish here?

I think I can say with a high amount of confidence that this will likely be the worst season since 1945-46... the next year is when the Streak started.
45-46 was also the last time K-State lost to a MIAA school (Washburn).

Yep, but Knorr was no Frank Root.

What were the most prestigious KSU accomplishments or traditions that Knorr or Root destroyed in their reigns of terror?

Will you just freaking stick around, bro? The kstate greats draft thread is perfect for a nerd like you.

After all the Clent shade getting thrown around I was looking back at the heupz cats from like 04-11 and holy crap we got boat raced by Nebraska and Tech on the reg. Like I just completely blocked that out of my memory

Stinks that there is nothing going on currently that is worth discussing

The team is only worthy of discussion when they're winning?

CAN HIS ASS
-
kinda sucks that the year we finally break the streak it's a done deal by january and there isn't even any drama around the chase.
-
Clearly oscar must be dismissed for this, but do we need to get a new arena now too that doesn't have this stench on it?
-
Hope they just continue to brag about the streak, but with an asterisk noting it has happened in every full non-con/conference season/real season since......

No, I’d settle for a modicum of competitiveness. As it is, I’d rather read a book than watch this team play.

Another win oppy gone.

I'm definitely considering the source on that one, but assuming it could be true flood aggie has to be pissed because they will definitely finish last if that game isn't going to be played.
-
have we clinched yet?
-
Next loss ends it. If the iowa state game comes back, we could lose one and still get to .500.

i think we should proceed as if the isu game will be played and as if a tie extends the streak. two losses to clinch.
-
We’ve got to just about have it clenched by now
-
It’s done, unless ISU reschedules and we win out and change it to a streak of not having a losing record at home.
:frown:
-
i still say the next loss will be the one that officially puts us under. as long as the isu game looms as a possibility, we haven't exhausted every avenue to keeping our home non-losing streak alive.

To put a bow on things and since I had the media guide up to track other lesser streaks, here's what was in this year's about The Streak:
Home Winning Season Streak Continues
- K-State extended its streak of having a winning record on its home courts to 74 after posting a 79-63 over Iowa State in the home finale on March 7. The Wildcats registered a 9-8 record at home venues (Bramlage Coliseum and the T-Mobile Center (formerly Sprint Center) in Kansas City) in 2019-20, including a 9-7 mark at Bramlage Coliseum.
- The 74-year streak has spanned three different arenas and 10 head coaches. Since the streak began in 1946 at Nichols Gym, the program has an impressive 805-217 (.788) record in their home venues.
- One of the eight home losses in 2019-20 was a 66-63 setback to Saint Louis on Dec. 21 in the Wildcat Classic at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, which counted as a home game since K-State controls the ticket and the game operations. It was just the second loss in 10 Wildcat Classics at the T-Mobile Center and the first since 2010.
- K-State is 187-46 (.824) at home over the last 14 seasons (2006-07 to 2019-20), including 82-39 (.705) in Big 12 play.

Do we still have that streak of being over .500 in home games for like the last kabillion seasons? If so, that's gotta be gonezo this year, right?
we did it, joe, we did it (i may be a game early or a game late). also got that 5 game bramlage losing streak trim researched up last night.
-
KSU is now 4-10 at home, with 3 scheduled home games remaining.
-
plus the possible isu reschedule, can't forget that one. either way we clinched at some point. :Woot:

You're the one who was in denial, now you have to consider if COVID forces road games to become home games, an NIT bid, etc.
-
oh, eff, the nit. :ohno:
