Charleston Recap:
City was ok. As expected, my kids got bored pretty quick so we started venturing to the beach towns near. I enjoyed most of them. Folly beach was prob my favorite. We didn't get in the water much since the last half of the vacation was resort and beach type stuff. Ate at a couple decent places in Charleston, but nothing was noteworthy. We hit up a "fancy" nacho place and found out the bartender was from KC. He was also gorked out of his skull. My kids ordered some virgin daiquiris and they were horrendous. Since they didn't like them, I went up to the bar and paid him to throw a rum floater in them so Mrs SF and I could take one for the team. Turns, out, he poured Rumplemintz in there and if there is one booze from college that still sticks with me to this day its that. At first I thought he just poured the worst rum ever in there, but Mrs SF said it smelled like peppermint and I knew immediately. Nachos were pretty good though. The city would have been better to travel without kids as there were a few bars and restaurants I would have liked to hit or stay longer, but kids ruin that. Prob should have just stayed at one of the beach towns and skipped the city altogether with the kids, but it was fine.
Second half of the trip we stayed at the Marriott Resort at Myrtle Beach. The resort was better than expected. Pools were pretty good and the beach access was great. I would prob stay there again as the point redemption was decent. As expected, Myrtle Beach is a tourist trap mess so we stayed at the resort a majority of the time. Would not recommend Myrtle Beach itself. We did hit up a baseball game. The Cubs single A team is there and it was a good time. I love minor league baseball though. All in all, it was a good trip. Not on my list of return locations, but it was a fun visit.
