Just started it.

Spent like 30 min doing what I thought was flying to the moon where my first mission was, only to realize that I needed to select the moon and select "travel".  LOL.

Other than that, it looks pretty great.

Essentially Flyertalk / Pool talk - Backyard types only!
« on: June 26, 2020, 10:08:42 AM »
Guys, longtime etc etc....

Let's talk pools.  Looking to possibly get started on the process of getting one.  Starting to do the research on types and stuff.

Who's got 'em, who loves 'em, who hates 'em.

Make me love 'em.

Make me hate 'em.

What Should I make sure to look into.

What should I avoid.

The only thing I know now is that I am looking for something around the 18'x36' size, it's going to be in ground, and it won't be concrete/gunite.

Salt water?  Is that what all the cool kids are doing these days?  Liquid injection chlorine?  Vinyl liner type vs fiberglass?

Give me what you got.

The New Joe Montgomery Birther Pit / WikiLeaks

With the recent past releases of the DNC emails, and promises of future such releases, as well as the below, I think these guys finally deserve their own thread:

http://thehill.com/policy/cybersecurity/291565-wikileaks-too-claims-to-have-nsa-code

Wikileaks posting a free pristine copy of an NSA spyware malware code.   :surprised:

Quote
The auction for an advanced, National Security Agency-linked cyberweapon just became cheaper.

After a day of speculation over whether the previously unknown “Shadow Brokers” could really be auctioning off an authentic stolen copy of the vaunted espionage group’s source code, WikiLeaks announced it would be releasing a free, “pristine” copy.

WikiLeaks — and The Shadow Brokers — claim to have copies of the code behind the Equation Group, labeled “one of the most sophisticated cyber attack groups in the world” when it was discovered last year. The operation went under the radar for 14 years before being discovered, well longer than other known attackers.

Equation is usually described as an NSA team because of similarities between its work and other projects attributed to the spy agency, as well as the use of NSA jargon within the program’s core.

An auction notice by Shadow Brokers placing hacked source code of Equation malware gained wide attention Monday. While inconclusive, files the Brokers released as proof it had the code appeared legitimate enough to pique the security community's interest.

Trying to basically legalize prostitution, but only if the johns are members of the state legislature.

This is either raw stupidity or a statement that they know 100% that no one gives a eff or pays any attention to corruption in their state.

In Kansas, the No. 1 pick was Kansas State University in Manhattan with an average starting salary of $45,200. That compared with $8,047 in college tuition and average scholarships and grants of $4,978.

Wichita State University was No. 2; Baker University in Baldwin City, No. 3; Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, No. 4; Washburn Univeristy, No. 5; the University of Kansas-Lawrence, No. 6; Friends University in Wichita, No. 7; Southwestern College in Winfield, No. 8; Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, No. 9; and Emporia State University in Emporia, No. 10.

The NCAA said that the violations, which were self-reported by Syracuse and dated back to 2001, included academic misconduct, extra benefits, the failure to follow its drug testing policy and impermissible booster activity.

Other violations included impermissible academic assistance and services, Boeheim's failure to promote an atmosphere of compliance and monitor his staff, and the school's lack of control over its athletics program.

So, Karl Rove's PAC and a couple others used anonymous twitter accts to post internal polling data in code for the 'pub candidates to use for focusing campaign money as the election was coming close.  The coordination of the two is illegal.

I bet absolutely nothing is done other than some laughs and high fives.

Justices strike down political donor limits

http://www.cnn.com/2014/04/02/politics/scotus-political-donor-limits/index.html

Quote
(CNN) -- The Supreme Court on Wednesday struck down current limits on the total amount individual donors can make to political campaigns.

At issue is whether those regulations in the Federal Election Campaign Act violate the First Amendment rights of contributors.

The 5-4 ruling could have an immediate impact on November's congressional midterm elections, and add another layer of high-stakes spending in the crowded political arena

Pretty bad deal for most Americans.  This is going to eliminate all interest in serving the majority of the actual ppl.

OSU has been playing pretty good and Smart is playing out of his mind lately.  Plus out of town and they aren't TCU or Tech.  Loss

(CNN) -- Early in her career as a learning specialist, Mary Willingham was in her office when a basketball player at the University of North Carolina walked in looking for help with his classwork.

He couldn't read or write.

"And I kind of panicked. What do you do with that?" she said, recalling the meeting.

Quote
And then another came with this request: "If I could teach him to read well enough so he could read about himself in the news, because that was something really important to him," Willingham said.

Quote
Soon, she'd meet a student-athlete who couldn't read multisyllabic words. She had to teach him to sound out Wis-con-sin, as kids do in elementary school.

How much would you pay to watch the Wildcats, Wildcat fans?   Also, keep in mind you have to drive like 3 hrs to a place that isn't close to anything other than Oklahoma.

So, this is some depressing crap.

that is who we play Friday, right?

I may go.  Free'ish tickets and all.

Question: if I do go, and it is as empty as I imagine, would security stop me if I just walk down the courtside chairs for a seat?  I am no John(football hero reference).

Thoughts?

Anyone going?

Anyone know BB starts Friday other than me?
