Kansas State Football / Where are the UTEP fans?
« on: September 26, 2014, 10:04:14 PM »
I kind of enjoyed the two weeks leading up to the Auburn game due to all the Auburn posters.  Where are the UTEP fans on the board?

osu could definitely beat us

I don't see them doing that without their QB Walsh.

I don't expect to beat OU, but I think the Cats will hand Baylor a tough loss at their tarpless new stadium.  I'm thinking Baylor might beat OU, seeing OU's pass defense looks suspect against this WVU team.  I don't know, we'll see.

I'm calling it guys.  KSU, OU, Baylor will share the BigXII title this year.  I will revisit this thread again at the end of the season.  That is all.

I doubt Cantele will see a start again this season.

Kansas State Football / Watching pregame ESPN
« on: September 18, 2014, 05:18:10 PM »
So I'm sitting here watching ESPN leading up to this cat-tastic game and I can't help noticing ESPN will not stop talking about Auburn's "potent offense."  The only thing potent is ESPN's clear love affair with everything SEC-SEC-SEC and boy, it stinks.  Get over yourselves guys.

I wonder what they say after the game when the Cats win?  I'm looking forward to it.

Kansas State Football / Re: RANKINGS...
« on: September 17, 2014, 09:12:04 PM »
So $A&M$ jumped from 21 to 9 after beating #9 South Carolina.  How far will KSU jump after beating Auburn?  It's really a rhetorical question, surely we'll be ranked #1.

Kansas State Football / Jermaine Whitehead out vs. KSU

ESPN has announced Jermaine Whitehead did not travel to KSU because he disrespected a coach.  My question to LHC Bill Snyder is, "How can we respect a team that doesn't respect itself?"

Bump.  Just because of the unusual increase of UAB fan's running around on this board and the increasing number of UAB RV's up on Tuttle Creek.

Honestly, KU leads the KSUvsKU series 65–41–5 and just look at their current football program's state.  YEESH

The above is completely made up. EMAW is a state of being, an attitude, and a predictor of financial and personal well being.

I swear on EcoKat it's totally true and not made up.

I find it odd a fan base that uses EMAW as a prized phrase poking their flimsy little peckers at a real tradition such as War Eagle. Since you cats are so responsive to edumication, lets indulge.

There are many stories surrounding the origins of Auburn's battle cry, "War Eagle." The most popular account involves the first Auburn football game in 1892 between Auburn and the University of Georgia. According to the story, in the stands that day was an old Civil War soldier with an eagle that he had found injured on a battlefield and kept as a pet. The eagle broke free and began to soar over the field, and Auburn began to march toward the Georgia end zone. The crowd began to chant "War Eagle" as the eagle soared. After Auburn won the game, the eagle crashed to the field and died, but according to the legend, his spirit lives on every time an Auburn man or woman yells "War Eagle!" The battle cry also functions as a greeting for those associated with the University. For many years, a live golden eagle has embodied the spirit of this tradition. The eagle was once housed on campus in The Eagle's Cage, but the cage was taken down and the eagle moved to a nearby raptor center.

"Every Man a Wildcat" or EMAW in Kansas State circles, has a long and valued history in Wildcat folklore.  It all started during the fifth football match-up between The Kansas State University "Aggies" and The University of Kansas "Jayhawks" in the year 1906 and KU had been leading the series 4-0.  During the last Aggie possession of the ball-game, a Kansan Wildcat ran out onto the field and chased the Jayhawk mascot.  The wildcat startled the KU mascot so much, that the mascot's pants fell about his ankles as he was run out of the stadium.  The Aggie boys were inspired by this act of nature and rallied to destroy the Jayhawks.  The men of Kansas State gave chase to the wildcat and named him "Willie", in honor of the de-pantsing of the KU mascot and nicknamed themselves the "Wildcats".  Unfortunately, the wildcat was later found to have rabies and had to be put down.  Mike Ahearn, the head coach of KSU at the time, said with tears rolling down his cheeks as Willie was euthanized, "Every Man a Wildcat... and damn the Jayhawks."  To this day, Willie the Wildcat gives chase to visiting team mascots before each game as we carry on his legend by yelling "EMAW!"

Kansas State Football / Kind request for Auburn RV'ers

Dear Auburn RV'ers,

Please kindly dump your RV sewage (i.e. crap), on your way out of Kansas.  Preferably, in Missouri or Oklahoma, depending on where your travels take you.  The idea of Auburn crap mixing with my crap, disturbs me.  Thank you.

I'm hearing reports that many local businesses are going to be closed on Friday so their employees can go out partying Thursday night. This game is huge to them. It's just too bad those poor souls think they are actually going to win.

Auburn, Ala. - Can’t make it to Kansas State? Head downtown to the Gay Street parking lot to watch Auburn on the big screen.

Wait, Auburn has a Gay St.?  Very progressive.  I didn't expect that.

I just love all the charity games that Kstate has been giving out this year.  It's like Grant-a-wish Foundation.  Auburn gets their superbowl along with SF Austin and UTEP.  I just worry though, that Kstate will bore of their charity and just start racking points up on Auburn.  I mean, it's like a Dad dunking a b-ball over his 3 year-old son's head.  I hope we can keep it close, so that Auburn still feels special, even with the L.  But then again, sometimes it's fun to pick on the fat kid during dodgeball...
