did we really have almost 30k fans in there?
I've heard there were absolutely no more than 2000 Stanford fans there. Doing quick math, there were probably 22,000-25,000 K-State fans there, that's a great showing for a non top 25 team playing a regular season game 8 hours from campus. Did anybody think there were going to be 28,000 fans at this game, no, and it's disappointing from that angle, can't hide from that. However, when Jerry Jones waived a $3 million dollar check in Gene's face to play a game against another P5 program in AT&T Stadium, you gotta take that check. Especially now that we can play the result of getting the win and knowing the well over 20,000 K-State fans who went down there loved the experience, and we won, it can't be looked at like anything but a success for K-State.
The question I have is why was this the game that the operations people at AT&T Stadium thought that this was the game to move? Next year we have Mizzou and Tulane, both of those would have been better for AT&T Stadium. There aren't a ton of Tulane grads/fans, but you can bet it would have been their super bowl, indy 500, kentucky derby, and masters all rolled into one. We have Arizona in '24, that would have been better. This was an odd choice for them, oh well that check will spend all the same.
