Title: Players doing Stud Non-football related things
Post by: Trogdor on July 08, 2014, 10:03:28 AM
This is a thread for ball players (not just emaws) doing cool crap that off the field. This goes usually goes under appreciated imo. What have you guys heard or seen players do? This could vary from helping an old lady carry her groceries to a car, all the way to averting an international nuke war.

Example:
"One time I dropped a $5 bill at Dillons and Jake Waters noticed and gave it back to me"

I once saw "Big" John Riggins toss a bar patron out the front window of The Jayhawk Cafe old Western saloon style.  You know the style I'm talkin' about.

seems like a criminal type thing more than a stud type thing.  i'm guessing he had anger and alcohol issues (also not studly).  i feel for the guy.

Sounds pretty studly to me.  Granted, I obviously wasn't alive to witness it, but ole' "Big" Big John Riggins was a big ole' boy.  One could easily imagine it happening.

An unnamed football player got in a fight the other day and after he had beat the dude up and the dude was laying in the street, he chose not to bash his head in with his foot. Pretty classy I thought.

Former EMAW QB and former EMAW LB help an old lady in a wheel chair onto a city bus wheelchair lift thingy. Look at each other; smile and high five. QB says to LB: "Plantin' seeds brother...plantin' seeds."

He's TP & TC, AKA Bad Back Riggins.  Of course there's the time he rolled on his back on a dinning table at a Washington Whop-de-Doo.  He was drunker than a skunk and popped a few pills for his back pain naturally.

This is how I imagine it happened, except in a bar and the pond is actually the sidewalk outside the bar window.

200 hundred pound tanks seem awfully light for snakes of those sizes. My 75 gallon tank weighs about that no way it'd be big enough for snakes that size. Coop was a terrible pet owner.

My tank is 4' x 1.5' by 2'. I know different glass thickness accounts for a bit in reptile tanks vs aquariums but still.

Couple things about kat footballers that I remember off the top of my head.

Quincy Morgan, science wizard and stud WR, built himself a cyborg. Pretty sure year-round flip-flop wearer Jim Hmielewski once pounded a hundred brewskis.

Didn't know where to put this...

I just ran into Warren Lott, a linebacker for KSU in the early 2000's, at the Denver hotel I'm staying in.  He saw my KSU hat and stopped me to take a picture.  Great guy, still looks like he do some damage on defense.  Get that man a jersey!  He had a polo with the hotel logo on it.  I assume he's running the place?

Not sure if true, but it is well documented that long time Boston Red Sox third baseman Wade Boggs once drank 64 beers on a cross country flight from NY to LA.

K-State freshman athletes were working with the local Special Olympics athletes this summer and they invited them out to the K-State practice facility and had them do some drills and stuff.  Best part?  They had them run for a touchdown, do a TD dance and then they had K-State athletes dressed up like old timey reporters and run up and interview them about their TD.

Amazing.
