What are the absolute coolest things to do in Minneapolis?
What time of the year?
Early August
If it were late August, the can’t miss event is the Minnesota State fair. A very big deal there.
If you are up for venturing a ways out of town up north, I’d recommend a guided fishing trip (e.g. perch, walleye). The Gull Lake area would be a good one to check out. Lots of resorts. High end golf and stuff. Lots of bike trails, both paved and off-road. Lots of kayaking/canoeing.
Dinky Town, student area around the university is fun. Lots of hipster restaurants, but that’s all over MSP really.
The St. Paul Saints minor league baseball games are fun. They were part owned by Bill Murray at one time and it’s a fun atmosphere. Lots of shenanigans.
Bunch of art museums. That one statue of the spoon with a cherry in it is there, and apparently it’s highly thought of.
