was also going to say, I love him but we are going to get smoke in conference play if the rest of the bigs don't step their game up.

Jamar is quickly heading to his worst year on record.

Don't worry though, Rusty never expected him to be all-conference.

Jamar played decent the last 8 minutes and OT.

Gipson is really good offensively, is solid most of the time on defense and rebounding. Way better than I ever imagined he'd be to this point.

Oh sure, it's cute when Jamar realizes 32 minutes into a game that he should be dominating.

Even then, he makes every underneath shot the most difficult thing on earth. They just happened to roll in a few times toward the end while the refs bailed him out with garbage fouls.

I have always wondered how Jamar plays in pick up games w/o officials, does avoid contact more or less?

I've never really bought into this talking point till this year.  Both Jam and JHr have been rough ridin' deplorable down low.  Its like they are trying to give the other team opportunities to strip them and get decent defensive positioning.  I would love to know who is teaching these guys these amazing post moves.  Its like going up strong is being taught as a non-option.

I just hope  Gip ignores whatever coaching is being perpetrated.

I've always wondered what he would do in a slam dunk contest.  If I had to bet on whether or not he would dunk or do some triple fake layup attempt, I would chose the triple fake layup attempt.

Mediocre bbiq here, but don't you think if we had just one player who could pose as an outside offensive threat it would be easier on the bigs?

Yes, and anyone that thinks Diaz is better than JHR should be slapped.

I don't remember exactly what JHR looked like in Nov/Dec of last year, but I'm pretty sure it was horrible.

That's some keen basketball IQ you've got there.

I'm sick of watching Jamar flail around like a drunken old man every time he goes up for a shot.  He either makes himself 6 foot tall and gets his crap rejected or throws up some circus garbage that has no chance of going in.

Has to be.  I mean the influx of crap posters with the PigAggie Incident have to be dealt with in such a way that they don't feel comfy enough to stay.  Exploit them for entertainment then toss them aside when bored.

I'm starting to  :ohno: about Gipson's NBA prospects.  I'm not a big NBA fan, but maybe a sort of Charles Barkley type player at that level.

Sending players to the NBA early is terrible for recruiting and the program in general, lets hope he stays all four years.

Charles Barkley out of college could sky. Nobody who saw him play would compare Gipson's game to his.

Why all the Diaz hate? So he's not Gipson but he did some good things yesterday. Has a nice drop step, and unlike some of our bigs, seems to go to the basket without hesitation or doing everything he can to make an easy shot a difficult one.

Yes, Gip does not have NBA athleticism.  A more likely scenario is he is a 15 and 8 type for all four years and resulting in some being disappointed he is not more dominant as an upper classman.   Think of a much more attractive Arthur Johnson from the Quin era at MU.

don't get it either.  he's better than i thought he'd be.

agree with skipper on gipson, (would also apply to ar-t).  he's more polished than most freshmen as a freshman, closer to realizing his potential.  that doesn't imply that his ceiling is proportionally higher.

Think Gipson could greatly improve if he could sculpt his body to be Hoskins-like. Drop the flab. Think it would make him quicker and give him a bit more hops. Developing a consistent baseline jumper would also help.
Diaz has more upside, although I'm not going to predict he'll be a better.

Probably been discussed elsewhere but where did the Roberts in Jordan Henriquez-Roberts go off to this year?

I was expecting to see it again and then it is suddenly gone.

not sure you know how to math

Gipson is by far our best big player.  Diaz is preforming better than JHr right now.

Good god man. Its like you aren't even trying.

Diaz has better footwork than clown shoes, better hands and better defense.  The only thing JHr can do better right now is block shots from behind because everyone goes right by him.

He fits the tweener mold perfectly - solid 6'7 -6'8 dude with no jump shot but can bang amazingly with college duders - will never go NBA and will be a great JYK. Good player kiddos.

Who recruited him?

Yeah, Figger was the lead recruiter for Gip.

There was a good picture of Gip, his Mom, Martin, and Figgs floating around about the time Gip signed w/KSU. You're going to have to ask someone more tech savvy than me to be able dig that up, it was a good, wholesome pic though.

I admit, I fist-pumped when he palmed that rebound one-handed in traffic before slapping his other hand on it. He's lost so many of those, it was refreshing to see.
