The New Joe Montgomery Birther Pit / Re: LOL LIBERTARIANS
« on: May 26, 2024, 07:42:53 PM »
everyone (me) thinks they are basically a libertarian until the child bride, no drivers license, owning a machine gun talk starts happening.

I used the think I was a John Stuart Mill libertarian, and still do. But the Libertarian Party is something quite different. It's basically Republicans who don't want to identify as Republicans but want to avoid any consequences for their actions.

This is all so very Libertarian (not to be confused with libertarianism).

Well that settles it. I'm voting for Trump.

Right. My bad. Did anyone catch game 2 of the Mavs v. Wolves series last night? Luka is incredible.

What time's the game? The Mavs play tonight, so I'm unsure I'll be able to watch.

Best to avoid all cops, but especially in Missouri.

They certainly do need more parking around the stadium

Bruh. It's on The Hill.

Good question WM, Jamaica is probably going to be my next Caribbean destination.

Of all the places I've been in the Caribbean, and there are many, I enjoyed Jamaica the least. Maybe consider the USVI or BVI, if you haven't been.

Also, Purdue playing in a conference championship game 2 years ago and still being T4 is a perfect demonstration of just how shitty that conference is.

I was frankly shocked that KU wasn't in T4.

Potter Lake? Is this true?

Edit: It is true, but they're just spending money ($1M+) to make it better.

I’m thinking about moving

I finally made up my mind and found a new place yesterday! I get my keys in 3 weeks. Pretty excited about it because it's brand new. Moving sucks major ass tho, not looking forward to the actual process.

Hire movers. I'm never moving my crap again.

Oh yeah the last several moves I've hired movers and won't ever not again. It's just packing up all my junk and then setting everything back up, especially my office. I roll 5 monitors across.

Do you work in the Matrix or something?

calling concrete "cement" is just wrong, there is no debate. The only reason you would call it that is that's what some old dumbass called it who learned it from some other even older dumbass and then passed it on to you.
And then also they pronounce it SEE-ment just to sprinkle a little layer of gross on top of being wrong

This exact discussion was recently had on the Phog in the David Booth Erection Thread.

And I must confess, I too will take one spit into the urinal or terlit, and I too have no idea why. Just an ideal spitting opportunity?

honestly I'd prefer being around a giant group of KS Nascar fans to what I imagine the Euro F1 fan archetype to be. maybe I'm being a bigot towards slimy, smelly euros here though.
Honestly I'd bet hardcore Kansas NASCAR fans and hardcore Euro F1 fans are very similar but overall agree I'd prefer the Kansas interactions

The euro fans are smellier and also smoke cigs 24/7

But they're (females) also more promiscuous, so you could probably F1.

I also have to laugh that Alito has a vacation home on the Jersey Shore
To be fair (on this point only) he's from New Jersey and the beaches themselves are very nice

I disagree with your assertion, Sir.

Trump stores are like the weirdest thing. They dot the landscape in Florida, and presumably throughout the South. And apparently the trashy parts of N.J., i.e., everything except Princeton and where Manhattan commuters live.

With all this talk about PE money trying to get into college athletics I think its safe to say KU is going to hop on that train with zero regard to long term costs.

Does KU athletics own the rules of basketball or is owned by some other entity? Would hate to see them have to auction off the rules here in 10 years when PE turns the screws to recoup their investment.

I believe David Booth owns them and lends them to the University.

my boss went to the vegas race, he's not into racing, he took his daughter who is. He liked the cars, but he was not into the event, at all, said he'd never do it again.

I don't think it's a sport that will get you hooked in a one time in-person event like maybe the US Open (tennis) or college football could. But the more immersed I get, the more enjoyable it gets

It's one of a few sports that I think is truly better on TV.  Golf is another.  With either of those you can't possibly have a sense for what is going on by just watching it....you need loads of other info to complete the understanding.

I feel like all sports are better on TV, with the possible exceptions of baseball on a nice day and hockey.

If I go to the F1 race I should fly from SA to Austin just so everyone knows how important I am to the event.

Dude, it's like an hour and a half drive. And you'll have a car.

How will I fit in with the wealthy EuroTrash crowd if they find out I drove an hour and a half instead of just flying there?

If you do intend to go, you'll need to secure your hotel room (or AirBNB) now, if they're still available. Unless you're staying at a friend's place. If hotel, I recommend the Fremont.

This is why 'Clams LLP is the only firm I refer clients to in Kansas City.
