It's hard to tell whether they are boarding up windows or just awaiting for the brick facade to arrive. You'd think someone would have asked in the last 7 decades.  Looks like a pre 8th amendment prison.

It's cute that they think their stadium is in a great location though. Really drives home their silent film era appreciation and understanding for football.  That place is the absolute worst game day experience imaginable. It's like they're trying to hide the fact they even have football.  Would be the equivalent of the chiefs throwing up some bleachers in Rosedale park.

"My gawd, this place is a shithole and a real pain in the ass to get to."  "But after you hike up and down it, this hill is really something to look. Especially when compared to the Cadillac trailer parked in the high jump pit."

This is the overlooked part.  Football is fancy, big, loud and parking.  That's it.  In the late '30s maybe you wanted a hill is some crap.  If kstate could afford and fill a Jerry dome stadium it could be underground for all anyone cares.

The location is prime and there is an intimacy and a sense of tradition at Memorial Stadium that is palpable and which is not present at KSU Stadium (nor several other Big 12 venues).

They play basketball in Allen Fieldhouse guys. Do you think they are suddenly going change their line of thinking when it comes to their football/track complex?

I mean, I can't believe they are even going to move their outdoor track away from all that tradition and setting, tbh. Boggles the mind.

The #1 thread on beems.net is a 26-page butthurt sore about a KSU women's basketball player.  Not sure how more obsessed you can get than that...

A track around the field is retro chic, imo.

my high school has a track around the football field,

my high school also doesn't have lights, so they play games on Saturday mornings.  two sames and only one difference.

I like the possibility for a new nickname

"The herp"
"The sore"
"The blister"

"Hey dude, what time are you headed over to the herp?"
"I'm not going, have an Ultimate game in the park.  Meet me at Starbucks after"

Why would KU keep a track that they don't even use anymore?

Just trying to keep up with Dook...  If Dook has a track, then how can ku call themselves a "blue blood" hoops program without a track around the gridiron?

 :gocho:

sorry but Duke has already announced their plans to remove their track

The primary reason KU keeps Charlie is economic.  KU can't afford another change unless Charlie's contract is renegotiated similar to Bonnie's in women's basketball.  Only then is there a chance Charlie gets canned before his 5 years are up provided his results going forward are like the past.

So I guess this guy just wants Charlie to voluntarily renegotiate his contract to make it easier for KU to fire him.  Wow, I just don't even......

Well they bit the bullet and paid Gill's contract off in full.  With Mangino as I recall there was some negotiation after he was fired and a slightly reduced payoff because of the abuse allegations.  Not quite sure of the exact numbers though.
