Clemente is a huge loss for us, but KU losing 3 starters (2 of which are AAs, the point guard and center), 40% of its scoring, 44% of its minutes, 64% of its blocks, 40% of its rebounds, and 41% of its assists is no big deal? Plus all those studs that are leaving are being replaced by completely unproven commodities. Yeah, KU has nothing to worry about.  :dunno:

Don't discount the fact that KU also loses 60% of its uncalled fouls as well.

Let's see.

Rush, Jackson, Arthur, and Chalmers as a core led KU to an Elite 8 and a NC.

Collins and Aldrich (and X this year) led KU to a Sweet 16 and a 2nd round exit.

Pretty easy to see the KU program is at about the same place now as it was when that first group of guys left.

and lets never discount the questionable practices that had to take place to get that NC class in there.  Its clear self's recruiting has dropped off since then.  he's also been lucky that the conf has been poor for so long.  Things are turning now.

Did you not say the same thing when KU lost Rush, Chalmers, Arthur, Jackson, etc?

:dunno:
You had two studs coming back from that team in Aldrich and Collins. They both played the two most important positions on the court and were obviously going to be a good core to bring back. I'll give you that Marcus Morris is good, but there's nobody else that has proven anything at all, unless you think Brady and Tyrell are centerpieces to build your team around (in that case  ). Losing the biggest defensive presence in the conference, and possibly the country, along with your floor general are huge, huge losses.

Aldrich wasn't proven.  I'm not saying those guys aren't big losses, but KU is going to reload.  Guys like Elijah Johnson and Thomas Robinson have a chance to improve as much as Aldrich/Morris did from their freshman to sophomore years.

Ben is starting to sound an awful lot like us in 2004.  "But we have Sproles coming back, and, and...."

The problem I see with next yrs roster @ku is inexperience at the 'Big' and PG positions.   The current roster is full of guys are turnover prone or foul happy (think of the twins as having 2 Duh Arthurs without a skilled 6'11" guy to draw attention).  The HiLo/Self halfcourt O doesn't work well with 6'9" or shorter guys, as noted when Cole was on the bench (or, with guys like Whitey/TRob who suck - which is why they combined for <2 minutes total vs KSU in all 3 games).

You forgot to mention that KU was 33-2 and the #1 overall team in the country entering the tournament.

Aldrich didn't play much at all his freshman year.

The ironic thing is that Northern Iowa wins the exact same way as Butler.  K-State just got lucky enough not to play a team like that until the Elite Eight.

Butler is/was 10x better at what they do than N. Iowa, don't even try and pretend that's not the case.

Check out kenpom.  Butler is 5th in defense, while Northern Iowa is 16th.  Northern Iowa is pretty much the same team.

Northern Iowa  -  30-win mid major program that plays excellent defense, doesn't miss much from the free throw line, and hits clutch shots

Butler - 30+ win mid major program that plays excellent defense, doesn't miss much from the free throw line, and hits clutch shots

Yeah, just two totally different teams.  I'm not denying that Butler is significantly better than Northern Iowa, but don't act like they're totally incomparable.

The Overall #1 seed doesn't lose to a team like UNI, a team that in the next game got worked by a team that did not posses the same talent that ku had.

It was a monumental choke by the overall #1 seed in the NCAA tourney and no amount of Ben Jedi Obfuscation is going to change that reality.

Not denying it was a massive choke by KU.  Just saying that Northern Iowa plays a similar style to Butler.

Who do you think is going to be John Higgins' pet next year?  I'm going to guess Brady or Tyrel, possibly Point Plank'n.  Gonna be infuriating when those guys are getting sweet anticipation calls or traveling no-calls.

How can we dominate KU when thier bench, aka Mario Little, CJ Henry, and Johnson can win the Big 12. I thought their bench was unstoppable and could win out in the league.  :dunno:
