Title: news people/reporters
Post by: pissclams on February 13, 2017, 10:32:49 AM
they seem like really weird people in general, is it just me?

i know a sports guy in town and he's really nice and pretty normal but for the most part i don't know about these folks.

i'm mostly referencing their on-air personality and how they talk and dress

they all talk weird and dress VERY weirdly.  anchorman movie could have been a documentary

Always very robotic and fake sounding.  Pretty sure they aren't actually real people.

Also think this is pretty accurate https://vimeo.com/77241624 (https://vimeo.com/77241624)

yes very robotic and their diction is so odd

off camera i'm sure they're fine but it's weird how they decide to be super weird when the camera is on

I would really appreciate a crew that just ditches the canned script and gives me the news straight from the heart.  And there's no need to smile and laugh at stupid jokes or stories that really aren't funny.

The new sports guy at KWCH is a giant rough ridin' tool KU and WSU fanboy. His on air personality is awful. Tries way too hard to be Berman with his stupid ass zingers.

I feel like some of the sportscenter stuff is going this direction, especially SVP. You end up with some awkward pauses when you go that route, though.

how was she weird in a college class versus the rest of the weird college students?  was she like a reporter even when in class?

I mean, I was one of those weird college students at the time, so not sure how I could say. Did not strike me as reporter-y, just seemed kinda odd.

Most are normal. A few have very large and very fragile egos. A surprising (not so surprising, if you really think about it) are registered republicans/ conservatives.

Zaldy is great.

Absolutely.  News at the national level is far superior.  While most of it is still scripted, the delivery is much more natural and smooth.  I gave up on the local stuff years ago.  Just can't buy in to the robots with corny jokes.

15 years ago when I worked there, KAKE people were pretty great.

Larry Hatteburg could drink with the best of them

Zaldy and Matt are the brightspots of my evenings.  For as young as they are, those guys are a couple of pros.
