fly southwest out of mci very frequent, carryon, precheck, thru security in less than 5 minutes everytime for the past year.  family flying american in a couple weeks, now i'm getting nervous after reading this thread  :ohno:

My only advice is 3 hours minimum if you are checking a bag. I would highly recommend not doing that if at all possible with American. Hopefully you will get lucky and at the very least pre check will be open, but I wouldn't count on it.

Your experience sucked but is not standard at kci with American. That same experience can also happen at swa. It's like reason #4 why that terminal is trash.

Off to NYC with my oldest daughter.  Dad daughter trip.  Going to show her my old grounds and then out to the Hamptons for one of my bros bday party at their estate.
Take her to a Broadway show! Beetlejuice is really good

Probably so, but I've never had it be that bad with SWA or even Delta and I used to fly both a ton. It was the same thing all week there from what I have seen. I guess it could have been a weird glitch with AA over a few day period, but i'm going to try and avoid them if at all possible. My normal SW routine is to arrive between an hour and hour and half before the flight and I've never had an issue. Arriving at the airport 3 hours before your flight is ridiculous and I'd rather not deal with it at all if that is the case.

I leave for savannah tomorrow and am flying out of MCI, my flight leaves at 10:00am. Flying American but carry on only, how early do I need to get there?

I'd do 2 hours since you aren't checking. You could also just sleep there the night before.

Am I the only one who prefers to get to the airport extra early?  I like to make sure I have extra time to get boozed up for the flight, and people watching is the best at airports!  I guess MCI doesn't have the best food\drinks, but the bbq place isn't terrible.

I like that too, kstate4life. Also, our Napa trip is booked and considered me shocked that the cheapest flights we found we're with United. $225 round trip to SFA. Everywhere else was triple that. :surprised:

My mom is putting her house on the market next week and moving to Mexico in September. I wanted to go visit her one last time in California but the flights were outrageous, you got lucky bro.

Definitely. The trip is in October, so I'm sure that helped.

I don't mind ending my trip at the airport (those last few trip hours suck) or even a layover assuming there is a lounge or good food options. Obviously we all know that's not the case at kci

Southwest is currently having a 40% off sale (select cities of course).  But got a round trip flight from PDX to San Jose for $140 the weekend of the Chiefs\49ers game.

I love the crap out of a good pinot noir or cab sauv paired with a steak. More importantly, I love the country side out there and some friends asked us to go. They rented a huge Airbnb with a pool there, so I'm very excited to just kick back for a bit.
