2012-2013 Season Predictos
« on: April 05, 2012, 10:34:27 PM »
Instead of trying to decide whether we should win or lose or playing out scenarios of how to get Currie fired, I did this. Still  :bball:, but can really see  :flush: coming.

October:

-HCBW's appearaces during preseason media days are widely dissected by media and BBSers alike. He makes guarded comments about rumored disconnect between him and ART, says that Will has the more confidence in his shot than ever, and Shane still has a really, really good body. Says the team really bonded a lot during the summer trip to Brazil. Tells everyone Jordan has really improved his 3-pointer, with guidance from Darren Kent, still doesn't understand why people call him JO.

Tuck Reaction: We always knew this was our guy. Do you see how he's doing everything right and exactly how Frank should have? I bet you anything Will Spradling will be first team all Big 12, and they'll see exactly how much Frank was holding us back last year. And who cares about that Mexican kid... he had way too many turnovers, and just takes shots away from Will.

goEMAW Reaction #1:  :jerk: Nothing to see here. Has he recruited anyone yet? Meh, back to football.

goEMAW Reaction #2:  :barf: Bullshit. We're going to see 40 minutes of Will rough ridin' Spradling every game, and he's going to pull Rodney every time he misses a shot in that damn pick and pop, then put in Martavious just because he has a nice body. FUCKFUCKFUCK. Burn the mother effer.

November:

-HCBW opens season vs. Ft. Hays state at the Octagon of chicken nuggets. Introduced to a mixed reaction from the fans. New introductory video debuts, with a variety of clips of 3-pointers from last year and BW's head talking about how he's found a new home in Manhattan or something weird like that. Will involve classic rock.

- At the end of November, the wild wild weber cats have beaten all opponents handily and are heading into a preseason tournament just after Thanksgiving. Angel (assuming he's still on the team) has been benched. Will leads team in scoring, Rod is doing his thing, all in all not that different than Frank.

Tucks:  Total Heaven. HCBW is so wonderful, and even was seen grilling at a recent tailgate. They cannot get ENOUGH of the interaction of "the Webers" at halftime, and on GoPo there are giant threads dedicated to photoshopped family portraits of oscar, Megan and their newfound son Stan. The girls are not included.

goEMAW1: I'll take it. The players seem to have bought in, but damn KU is looking dominant, and not letting us forget it since Operation Charlie isn't going well. For now, oscar is fine. Come back in mid-January.

goEMAW2:  :chainsaw:Possibly the only thing worse than listening to his damn voice in those pressers is watching the Tucks eat this crap up and no longer being able to wave my flag with Angel on the bench. HE HASN'T DONE ANYTHING, and the defense that has already been exhibited has only been bailed out by larger size on the boards. Whatever. Sprads will collapse (again) against superior athleticism in league play, but if that rough rider doesn't put Angel in soon....

December:
More of the same. We lose in the 2nd round of a preseason tournament. Cracks start to form in the Weber defense, but Tuck opinion remains unchanged.

January:

League play. Weber defense proves to be a huge downgrade over Franksketball, but the offense somehow continues to click. Angel and oscar must have made up, or BW has somehow fallen out of love with Tay's body, because ART is seeing the floor, and even though he gets pulled constantly, gets Rod many more open looks. Will's output goes down, and now he only plays 30 min/game. Gipson and JO give enough of a low-post presence to keep us in games.

January record: 7-3

Tucks: oscar is a great guy, but gosh darnit, why is he changing what he'd been doing? Will needs to see more minutes, and take more shots. Obviously his system will work much better once he gets his own players in.

goEMAW1:I think BW is finally realizing how to maximize this team. Yeah those losses sucked, but we're actually improving. I really hope these rando transfers we've got for next year will work out.

goEMAW2: ahhhh... I still hate this guy, his dweeby voice and his aww shucksiness, but the team is actually somewhat likeable. I hate to admit it but they are at a better point now than last year, which is awful since BW still will never give us long-term success.

February: 9-1, 1 top 10 win.

Rodney emerging as dominant force in the big 12, leading Cats and averaging 18/game for the month. Media debates merits of BW's offense and highlighting Rod's skills. Angel is effectively handling the offense but only plays about 20 min/game as oscar still benches him a lot and they butt heads.

Tucks: GO oscar!!! Ahhh all the haters what you got to say now huh? This man can flat out COACH. Still wish that Will would get more minutes, but at least I know that this will be his team next year. Frank would NEVER have done this well with this team!

goEMAW1: YES! I like this guy. I don't even care that this success is entirely dependent on the chemistry and ability of players that currently don't seem to be replaceable. Bring it on March

goEMAW2: Whatever. I give up. I knew this would happen last March, and this school has bought into HCBW completely. I'm just going to enjoy the ride while it lasts. F it.

March:

7-4, get blown out in the Big12 championship when Angel is suspended from the team :horrorsurprise:. get a 4 seed in the NCAAs.

April:

Lose in the Sweet16. Rod is 1st team All-Big12. Angel is 3rd team. JO first team defense.
Season record 25-9

Tucks: Great season oscar. Can't wait to see what you'll do next year. In his very first year, he nearly matched Frank's success. Don't know that I agreed with all of his decisions, but darn it he represents our school well and knows how to treat those young men. He was right to suspend Angel.

goEMAW1: Well good job oscar, now go prove it. Get some guys. Seriously, we had enough mentions under Frank, time for some commits...

goEMAW2: This is a sinking ship and I'm off it. the B12 tournament and the NCAAs exposed the weaknesses in BW's coaching style, with a team better than any he will ever have at K-State. Why the hell could we not get further in the NCAA's before we recede back into obscurity and basketball mediocrity. Damnit, and there's no way Currie or Weber will get fired for another 2 seasons at the earliest.

If this is a fairly common thing for BW teams, IF, not half bad. Not bad at all.

Next year's success totally depends on if Angel sticks or not.  Can you imagine Will trying to score at the rim or 'tay trying to break a press?  :frown:

Will be very good or very "meh" based on who is running point.

Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever

i wouldn't mind if ar-t played for a year and then transferred.  it'd be nice to see mcgruder and the tall dude have a good sr season and that way ar-t's departure would be blamed more on weber being an bad person who can't coach talent than on shakey's miami mafia.

Is this the thread we are going to bump later next season? I always feel left out when these threads get bumped, but I want to make sure I post in the best one.

13-5 with the roster we have right now (angel and other freshman return), should be good for second place. Only lose to KU at home but win in Allen-there has to be done karmic payback for years of BAM jokes, right?  Split with WV and BU, swept in CTR
