What makes people think Jake Waters isn't tough?
Yeah, I don't get this either. Maybe you can say he's no tougher than most football players, but he's not soft.
I'm good with playing risk averse against Texas and Oklahoma State. We don't need to rely on Jake to beat either of those teams.
In conference play, OSU has been worse on offense than Texas. Other than lighting up Tech, which everyone has done, they averaged less than 5 yards per play against Kansas, Iowa State, and TCU. And they're nowhere near as good as Texas on defense. In conference, they're in the bottom half in both yards per rush and yards per attempt. Also, in conference play, they're 8th in turnover margin (-5), while we're 1st (+7).
We're going to be extremely conservative again next week, and my guess is that we're not going to see much of Jake running like this week. He had been averaging about 13-14 carries a game, and yesterday, he rushed 5 times and was sacked twice. My guess is that's about the same ballpark figure. They have about the same sack rate at Texas, so I'm expecting Jake to get put on his back 2-3 times.
I'm thinking next week is more like 34-10 or something like that when it's all said and done. Jake ends up with about 250 total yards, 240(ish) in the air and a net 10 yards on the ground.
