My snake had red bands on it.

This but he was darker, almost a slate gray or black.

I thought if birds fell out of the nest or got too confident and dove out early they were dead meat. Today though I saw an adult robin bouncing around a medium sized one feeding it and then flying away and then coming back and finding where the stupid prodigal son bird hopped off to and feeding him more.

robins feed their chicks for a few days after they've fledged (lots of birds do).  when i was a child, i found one that had just fledged and fed it for a week or so.  it came back the next year to say hey (i think).

i don't think cardinals normally build domed nests.  have you seen wrens in the garage?

I'm about 70% sure its a cardinal, have only seen it a couple of times but it looked like this

Also last year a cardinal made a next in my front yard

I have a bush (evergreen something maybe?) That is like 4ft high. I noticed that every time i walked out the door a cardinal would fly out of the bush.

I did some snooping today and it looks like the cardinal has a nest in the bush.

Will update with more pics when the babies hatch.

Only one of those eggs hatched and the baby got eaten by something (Garder snake probably) before it fledged....Wishing the cardinal better luck this year

great garter snake pic.

maybe the cardinal took over a nest a different species built.  they (birds) do that a fair bit.  no point building what's already built.
