If 'te doesn't get a sniff from George Washington he may as well pack it in now.

Wasn't 'te on the OU rumor list at the beginning?    Gotta think if he made an OU list, he could make a GW list  :dunno:

George Washington coach Karl Hobbs has been let go, sources told FOXSports.com.

Kansas assistant Joe Dooley played at George Washington in the mid-80's.

Very solid PF recruit may have just become available, Erik Copes from Philly, might be too much like Gipson for the KSU Cats to make a run at him, but should he decide to look for another school due to Hobbs being ousted, might be a really big late steal for somebody.

His Uncle is Roland Houston one of the assistants on that former staff of Hobbs.  Wouldn't you think his uncle would possibly leverage his commitment into a new assistant gig somewhere?

I remember when Hobbs was one of the hottest mid-major coaches out there. Several thought he would've been a good replacement for Huggs.

I believe that would be construed as a "package deal" by the NCAA which has deemed those to be outlawed in the past couple years. Good thought, but don't think Houston could get away with it in the current NCAA landscape.

I thought that only related to DOBO or some administrative staff.  I thought the rule basically forced you to make them an assistant coach.  I dunno.

Yeah, pretty sure it only applies to non-coaching positions.

"non-coaching positions" is the way the legislation reads which would lead you to believe that hiring the party as an assistant would be permissible.

All I can say is that ever since the rule was implemented(early 2009 I believe), I have not seen 1 instance of an assistant being brought on along with a player, aka the traditional package deal. I certainly could have missed it, but don't think there have been any high-profile exapmles.

Houston/Copes might be a good test of that.

it's fine for asst. coaches.  washington may be hiring jabari parker's brother in a few days.

I'd be totally cool with hiring a new assistant every few years to secure a blue chip type of player.  Keep Figgs and Undie around and just use 'Te's position as a rotating recruiting tool.  :ck:

We do it with the players. Why not the coaches?

No shot he was really on their list.  High majors no matter how little they care about basketball would have someone with Delonte's resume on their list for a head coaching job, it would be unprecedented.

this.  The list of reasons to stay in Lawrence far out number the list of reasons to go someplace that will actually demand results.

I don't know, the repeated stiff arms Bill has received from his top shelf recruiting targets  may make him consider the league more and more.

His son is what 15 or 16, right? If junior does not want and/or sucks so bad he can't play for Dad, I could see Bill getting very excited about creeping the riverwalk.

He currently lives in Lawrence, KS.  He will leave if offered and would take a paycut to do so.

Situations aren't at all alike.  Not uncommon for a long time assistant to get a decent job in college football, it is extremely rare for it to happen in basketball.  Te' will get a job at a school like George Washington or Howard before he will be considered for a job like OU.  I sure BV could have had a FCS job by now if he wanted one.
