I feel like Biden was sort of a concession to lots of non-MAGA pubs. Like, "here, we'll nominate a guy you can stomach voting for, so just go ahead and vote for him." And then, in the end, all but a handful of non-MAGA pubs were like, "nah, that's okay, we still want Trump!"

Dems: Hey, here is someone who is very much not a socialist for you to vote for.

Pubs: No, thanks! We still prefer fascism!

Congrats to Wisc for getting just under a 90% voter turnout.   Up 22% from the  2016 election.   Right at, oh, 5.5 standard deviations from the historical mean.

They were extremely motivated in WI, so much so, in some wards, turnout was well above 100% of registered voters.

Plz show your work

It should have been so obvious for Dems to turn out just to get an immediate threat out of the WH. But sure griping about not having a social platform they could get excited about seems fun too.

keep in mind that while mir, who is not a democrat, is saying that people didn't turn out because they weren't excited by biden, the facts of the matter are that turnout % will very likely be the highest in over 100 years, and we can probably deduce from biden winning the popular vote that more of them turned out to vote for biden than to vote for trump.

GTFO, voting trump out of office does not equate to being excited to vote for Biden. He ran a campaign of no substance at all. Did ultimate difference between now and 4 years ago is that he got people who didn't want a shrill woman and he got just enough moderate pubs who are tired of trump's crap. Of all the moderate dems who ran for president Biden was far and away the worst choice, whose name is not Amy.

Texas, Florida, and possibly Georgia and North Carolina represent missed opportunities for dems, they won't see it that way though.

Congrats to Ward 274 in Milw for that 202% voter turn out.   Turn out the vote campaign really paid off.

then your thesis that people need to be excited by a candidate or turnout will suffer is unsupported.

Pretty amazing that Ward 274 apparently had a 87% voter turn out.

273 apparently had a 91% voter turn out

Very very motivated in those wards.

I mean I literally addressed that with the rest of that post. Attempting to win national and statewide elections without motivating and exciting parts of your base is a fools errand.

Moderate democrats are going to show up for a democratic presidential candidate who fights for the things like a $12 federal minimum wage, a path to citizenship, and a government health care option. The dems have now allowed the republicans to move their party in which these things are viewed as progressive.

Unfortunately, you'll find out in '22 and '24 when republicans continue to pump out conservatives to beat moderate dems, because the dems are more afraid of scaring white moderates than they are in energizing and expanding their base. Kamala won't get to run against trump, she'll actually need to stand for something.

You dumb moderate dems will keep focusing on trump instead of the fact that republicans are hugely reliably conservative. You incrementalists are far more harmful than conservatives.

It seems any Dem candidate would garner huge numbers of anti-Trump voters, but someone who isn't speaking primarily to moderate republicans could garner more.

Pretty obvious, but I won't accuse sys of being insincere, I guess he's just really myopic.

Can't wait do to this all over again in 4 years when dems are selling Kamala by illustrating that she isn't Sarah Sanders, meanwhile Sanders is flying across the country selling border security, lower taxes, and law and order. Then dem pundits will be like "OMG WHY IS EVERYONE SO RACIST." While poor and underrepresented democrats are sitting at home, still left out of the entire process.
