why is the lorde news all over the place today? _FAN or KatKid or someone broke it a long time ago.

If you're cool, you've heard of up and coming hipster alternative hip hop artist Lorde from New Zealand. Her new song "Royals" (which you'll be hearing on the radio a lot in the next few months most likely) not only shares the name with the team, but was inspired by a picture of a former player of some sort:

“I had this image from the National Geographic of this dude just signing baseballs,” Lorde told us when we sat down with her recently. “He was a baseball player and his shirt said, ‘Royals.’” Lorde was so taken by the image and the word that she penned the song around that idea. ”It was just that word. It’s really cool.”

I remember _FAN posting about it earlier, but I just thought _FAN was writing some _FANFiction to mess with us.  I guess what I'm saying is that _FAN is a good writer and BBSer.

My thoughts:

The Prince trade is probably good because:

1) it means that Cabrera will probably be resigned

2) castellanos goes to 3b

3) Kinsler is an upgrade at 2b

The Vargas deal:

I think it is not that bad in terms of AAV although the amount of years is an obvious concern.  I think being a fly ball pitcher in Kaufman with this defense makes a big difference.

Also, do you mean the trade is good for the Tigers or the Royals?  I see it as Kinsler is a very good hitter at a weak position, but he isn't Prince Fielder.  He doesn't have near the power, and Cabrera won't see near as many hittable pitches without Fielder protecting him in the lineup.
