small tornado but man it tore some stuff up.

The RV park and the NW side of westy was hit. There was a storm chaser that got some super close ups and you can see the damage in the video. He said just based on sound alone it could be an EF-5

this is an absolutely hilarious thing for a chaser to say.

WW--you should definitely look at resources from your local ag extension agency to determine which trees are best for your area. The trees they recommend will be much heartier, pest resistant, attract pollinators and birds, etc.

Trees that grow fast often break in storms. Weeping willows are v cool but have roots that are invasive AF and can mess with your driveway/foundation.

If you're in Kansas, check out this doc from the Kansas Dept of Forestry:
https://www.kansasforests.org/conservation_trees/CTP%20species%20selection%20guide%201.2.23.pdf

As an added bonus, this doc was created literally across the street from Dunne's Pharmacy, the BITB pharmacy in all of the Sunflower State.

that's a cool doc. Definitely will rethink the Lacebark Elm as it appears only suitable for SW KS. From what I read, the London Plane Trees lose small branches but are fairly strong otherwise.
We would defintely have the WW in the far back of the place. I also want to plant some unique stuff back there to see what I can have actually take off.

The house we moved into has no trees at all on the property. We've got a decent sized lot so the plan is to plant quite a few trees over the next few years. If you had a choice, which ones would you plant?
I'm against maples, too many people have them. Ms. WW hates Oaks because she thinks she'll be infested with oak mites 24/7.

I'm leaning towards a couple London Plane Trees in the backyard. They grow quickly, big AF, and have cool bark. They're messy but worth it, imo.

In the front, maybe a Lacebark Elm. They are sturdy trees and have neat bark too.

Ms WW really wants a weeping willow for some reason so we may do that at the back of the lot.

what is the point in following high school recruiting at this moment in time? Any recruit who is so so will probably be gone and any recruit who whips ass most likely will transfer out.

I always wonder how current underclassmen feel about all the hype for bringing new players in

I've been thinking about this, as well. It would suck to get recruited, come in as a freshman, buy-in, practice hard to earn playing time and then have players transfer in who are guaranteed playing time/usage in the program. I guess it is just a fact of life in the NIL/portal world but it still has to suck for these guys.

Kansas State Football / Re: Nebraska's struggle for relevance.

As someone who started following college football in the 90's when nubb was at their peak this is another one of those Nebraska stats that blows my mind.

What an interesting stat. I guess I would assume there were longer streaks out there.

Hot damn, there is no better drunk food than Pancho's. Manhattan is really behind the times on this. How the hell did it get skipped over for Junction City?

Also one in Salina...not sure if it's the same group. The JC one's hours were BITB when I worked in town.

The story is Beard and his staff circulated that Mark Mitchell had silently committed to KSU. They did it to put doubt in the mind of MBJ, so they could close him on his visit.  Fitz and his flunkies lapped it up and put in a crystal ball prediction for Mitchell to KSU.

Fitz put a crystal ball in too? Thought it was just the AZ guy

I like a little break, but that was a bit too much. Great idea for a sketch.

peak migration starting for you bird watchers out there. New place I moved seems to have more variety so that's fun.
Probably x post with the getting old thread.

I've somehow stuck with the Fake Doctors Real Friends Podcast. The Season 8 series finale podcast is worth listening to if you haven't. Also it seems like some sort of Reunion series/movie may actually happen at some point which will be cool.

This was a treat! Goddamn I missed the podcast's theme song. Legitimately happy to have it stuck in my head for the next week or so.

I had heard that Glenn Matthews was legitimately the janitor's name and JD was the only person he told it to. But the fact that they had to come up with a reason that he would be credited in The Fugitive as Neil Flynn is rough ridin' hilarious.

would have loved to be a fly on the wall in that writer's room while they were arguing about it.

Bill putting old lines from his previous shows in Scrubs was cool. Hadn't heard that before.

Oats turned them down. Drew may have a tough decision to make.

20
Some people just don’t know what to do with themselves in retirement. I could see it from that perspective.

thought he was enjoying the tv gig.

21
Guessing Nate Oats takes the job.

22
Dan Hurley….that has to be at the top of the list.

idk why he would want to deal with BBN. He has it made right now.

23
How has Painter been at Purdue for as long as he has? No one tries to hire him away just because it's his alma mater? He's won the Big Ten 4 of the past 8 years and is only getting paid $3.67 million. Surely somewhere like Kentucky or UCLA could lure him away.

if i remember correctly, he about left 10 years ago but decided to stay. He's had some tourney issues which prob scare some.

25
I may just mute everyone but DY. Every other post is a God joke.

Anywho, my gut says he stays. Unless things are really bad, it seems against everything he's said to bounce after 2 years.
