My youngest turns 13 today. I know everyone has said it and heard it one million times but on days like this it does hit me that it goes by in a flash. It seems like just yesterday i was missing the 2014 KSU/OU game during his 4th bday party at the pumpkin patch.

Anyone else seen "The Creator"?

I haven't. Have you?

There sure is a very healthy and open debate out there with lots of people getting an open and fair hearing on the Hamas / Israel question. Everywhere you turn in the media there are Hamas spokespeople debating IDF spokespeople on round table discussions on the history of Israel / Palestine and the latest in this war.

In the real world, in the UK waving a Palestinian flag is a criminal offense.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/oct/10/people-supporting-hamas-in-uk-will-be-held-to-account-says-rishi-sunak

Have not heard the free speech warriors on here talk about this one yet, but I eagerly await to see where this places them on the free speech continuum. Is “forced to say pronouns” to “we don’t want this right wing freak to give a talk at our school”  worse than a possible 10 year jail sentence?

You must be happy that we live in a country where you can have a Congress person hang a Palestinian flag on her door in light of the atrocities that happened and innocent Americans being killed?  You must be happy that we live in a country where Palestinians can have vile demonstrations mocking Jewish protests that might be right across the street from them?  You must be happy that we have to go on high alert to protect Synagogues across our country when you think it would be the other way around?

Please continue to beat the drum of the oppressed Hamas, a terrorist group that's sole purpose is to annihilate the Jews.  I can't get enough of the apartheid state they've created in your eyes.

Has Israel done many things wrong?  Sure they have but it doesn't warrant a backlash when a terrorist group infiltrates their country and kills innocent women and children and babies.  It's disgusting on so many levels.  People on here continue to skim over the fact that Americans have been killed and could be being held hostage and are outraged that innocent Palestinians are going to be killed when hundreds of Jews have already been butchered.

It is something to behold that there is acceptance of Palestinians waving swastikas in the face of Jews and it gets nothing more than a mere shrug on here?  The double standards rear their ugly head once again.

I will go ahead and double down on the anti-Semitism that seems to be happening on this board.  And anyone who gets offended by this, please prove that I'm wrong by saying that you aren't.  Please tell me that it's not ok to hate the Jewish people because of what they have done in the past and that they have some credence in protecting the country that was attacked by a terrorist organization.

It's possible to be pro-Semite and also recognize that Israel is behaving poorly in their handling of Gaza/Westbank.

I don't disagree with you.

Sure. It's also possible to be pro-Palestinian but adamantly take Israel's side against Hamas.

You can't win if you're Israel. Either be destroyed, or be disparaged as just as bad as terrorists for discriminatory policies against those trying to destroy you.

If you don’t know which side you’re on in regards to Hammas/Israel you’ve lost your goddamn mind.

Just get your swing to where you aren't chunking hardly ever. Chunk shot after chunk shot is one of the most rage inducing things on earth. I don't always hit it straight, I blade some shots, I can't putt very well, but when I don't chunk any shots I probably enjoyed my round and had fun for the most part.

I'm curious what advice you all would give to Israel in this situation. What could they do to be 'the good guys'?

End the occupation for one. Stop building illegal settlements for another. Not cut off water, electricity and all means of escape (despite advising people to escape) to 2 million civilians while you are bombing them for another.

Plenty more but those would be a good start.

I meant more - what would you do in response to the attacks? I guess the 2nd part kind of answers that.

'Big' is not a good movie. I just watched it with my kids the other day. The main issue I have is how the mom is treated. She sees a man in her house wearing her sons underwear and thinks this guy kidnapped her son. The police come for like 5 min and then are like 'welp, no luck bye' and you never see them again. You never see his dad again after he's 'kidnapped'. It appears no one helps or comforts his mom, not even his best friends parents who live next door. Then he stumbles home weeks later wearing a man's suit and no shoes and it's supposed to be a happy ending? She's going to live with this trauma for the rest of her life.

Also it's creepy that a 12 year old had sex with an adult woman.

I like gardening a lot more than I thought I would. We started one last year and have tomatoes, cucumbers, and zucchini. When I put a large slice of homegrown tomato on top of my burger I am reminded of these words from Gandhi, "To forget how to dig the earth and to tend the soil is to forget ourselves."

I’m a layperson. I have zero idea how common this type of pre-game trash talking is. Is this a perfectly normal amount?

I'm sure it happens every game. But you have to admit it lands a little bit different when it's the coach's son doing it, and the coach is Deion Sanders.

Mir acting like it’s his first time hearing how coaches motivate

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you think that all coaches motivate their players by talking about other coaches you're the naive one, boss. You think Nick Saban wasted 2 seconds talking about Lane Kiffin before kickoff and at halftime? Man, I can hear Chris Klieman tearing the paint off the walls of the locker room spitting bars about Gus Malzhan. He's jealous, it's nothing more than that.

There's a 0% chance you don't understand the difference between Lanning motivating his players to play Coach Prime and Chris Klieman motivating his players to play Gus Malzahn.

Whenever one of our coaches makes a mistake on game day I always think to myself, would an AI-powered human/robot hybrid i.e. cyborg have made that same mistake? And if not, why don't we have one on the sidelines?

I like this variety from Kroger as store bought salsas go:

https://www.kroger.com/p/cocina-fresca-cantina-style-medium-serrano-salsa/0089097500135

I also fully agree on homemade cinnamon rolls being a waste of time, although they are pretty fun to make if you’ve got plenty of time.

I also wonder if _33 has ever made eggnog. I’ve done a couple different recipes and none take more than 15 minutes in the kitchen. (Although my favorite is aged eggnog that’s been sitting in the fridge since Halloween).

I've made egg nog, it was fine. Not worth it though when you can just pick up a 1/2 gallon and add to it whatever you want.

TMNT: Mutant Mayhem. I liked it. I wanted to love it, but instead I just liked it. The animation style was really cool. Several references I didn't understand due to being old that my kids had to fill me in on.

I knew that one would ruffle some feathers.

We always get the MEMBERS MARK FRESH SALSA©. I've made salsa a couple times and it tasted almost exactly like the MEMBERS MARK FRESH SALSA© only slightly worse. Thus, it's appearance on the list.

If you really like spicy things and want your own blend I could see how homemade salsa would be important.

Family Trip will be to Yellowstone and the surrounding area next year. I've been before but I was 12.  We're looking at getting an Air Bnb outside the north entrance near Gardiner. HOWEVER, the more I think about it the more I think maybe we should get a house near the south entrance so we're closer to the Grand Tetons and then we can do both and not have to drive forever. But I like that the north entrance is less tourist-y.

Any dos/don'ts/pro tips/nuggets/hacks/ or suggestos are appreciated.

Homemade things that are NOT worth the effort (just buy it from the store):

Cinnamon Rolls
Salsa
Potato Salad (see my previous hack about adding hard boiled eggs to Sams Club PS)
Egg Nog

Homemade things that ARE worth the effort:

Fruit Pies
Guacamole
Soups
Cookies

Scrambled Eggs; Use cream cheese instead of milk. Milk waters down the taste, cream cheese boosts the taste!

I do this amazing cooking hack but with greek yogurt. Everyone always says "wow Stevesie, these are the best scrambled eggs I've ever had!" so I know they're good.

Oh hell yeah. I'm gonna try that tomorrow maybe.
