BITB talking point:  MU and KSU have near identical resumes, why are they a lock and KSU is a bubble team?

I thought he was just BITB being BITB then I did a little research (and I'm not kidding when I say "a little").  Their best wins this year are Vanderbilt, ODU, and Illinois.  Their best conf win is KSU, they only lost to CU once and also lost to OSU.  They actually have a lower RPI and their SOS is way lower.

Not saying their resume isn't better, just not sure what makes it soooo much better.  This Lunardi numbnuts has them as a "lock", and k-state two grades lower at "work left to do" skipping over the "should be in" category.  They're a 6 we're a 9, so not so far off by seed, but I'd rather be "lock" or "should be in barring 3 game meltdown"

Saturday is also an exciting day for our basketball programs as we officially break ground on our training facility. The ceremony is at 9 a.m. on the east lawn of Bramlage prior to our 11 a.m. game against Missouri.

I hope to see you Saturday. Thanks again for your support, and Go Cats!

Ass clown congressman creeps out staff members, acts like a lunatic, takes drugs, and says he's fit for office.

He and Christine O'Connell should hook up.  Both are very furry  :fatty:

Was trying to find some info on the Cat Baseball game and stumbled across this little gem.  Was lolling at this Catman30 dude.  Can't tell if he's serious or a total tool.  Thought I'd share.

Well I'll probably only have a 12 pack before the game so there won't be any throwing up. As for the pissing during the game, dude, I've got a adult diaper already packed. I'm going to keep filling it up during the game and then after I'm going to wing it at the missou bus as they pull away.........its the least I could do....

Sounds like a real gameday warrior, would be awesome, but mostly embarrassing if he actually hurled a bag of piss at the MU bus

A bunch of media partook in a mock tournament selection process last week.  I didn't realize that they were actually role playing as a members of the tournament selection committee and operating within their parameters/procedures, etc. under tourney selection committee supervision.  Worth the 4 minutes if you have time.

That's just horrible. Not the part you put in bold face, but the whole laying off all teachers thing.

Maybe you should read the sentence above the bold.

Yeah, it's still bullcac. It's a way to get teachers to take significant pay cuts if they want to keep their job.

is that more or less bullcac than all the teachers colluding together and refusing to teach unless they get a pay raise???  it's a two way street

I suppose you just expect to make what you are making now when you retire.

wut?

If your employees find it worth their time to form a union, that is a sign that you are a cacty employer. That goes for both the government and private sector. Teachers deserve to make more, and state governments should be more concerned with providing a quality education, even if it means *gasp* raising the sales tax by .5-1 cent.

SCAB!!!!  I'm not sure how the NEA works, but I'm guessing it's not exactly optional for teachers, or they use coercion to get you do join, or they throw a brick through your window if try and work while the teacher's are on strike.  Not exactly a fair bargaining position for the state to be in, and certainly not conclusive on what "kind of employer" you are.  If they're doing such a shitty job, why are they getting pay raises anyways???

Also, it's not like the schools can pack up and head south for more accommodating labor situations.  Education has sort of become a Federal mandate, yaknow...

We've seen how the unions have effected the private sector and it's not pretty.  Probably the single greatest reason jobs are being exported (that and the oppressive corporate tax rate).  I know for union people having no job is better than taking a pay cut or working a whopping 32 hours a week, but all that has done is make the western world completely uncompetitive in unionized industrial markets.  Hopefully the socialists in Europe can keep this phony green industry crap going, for the union workers sake that is. . .

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Point guard Tyshawn Taylor will remain suspended Saturday when Kansas (No. 2 ESPN/USA Today, No. 3 AP) travels to Oklahoma -- raising to 32 the number of games Jayhawks players have missed because of injury, tragedy, misbehavior or NCAA rules.

Coach Bill Self confirmed Thursday that Taylor would miss a second straight game for violating unspecified team rules. In his place will be sophomore Elijah Johnson.

Self also admitted that he did not think the Jayhawks would be 26-2 at this point in the season, given the fact they had lost two NBA lottery picks and the winningest player in school history from last year's team. The fact so many players have been sidelined for parts of the year makes the success of the 2010-11 team even more improbable.

Not sure any of your figures are even all that accurate, and I'm sure it's relative to the school district, but I get what you're saying.  I'm also 100% sure teachers have outstanding benefits which is part of compensation and should be considered.

You certainly get what you pay for.  But when the main perks of applying for a job is 1) changing lives, 2) summers off, and 3) "if you don't eff up too bad for the first few years you can never get fired", you're definitely going to attract a certain "type" of worker.  One that likely isn't all that motivated by money.

No offense, but I'm not sure having an engineer (or engineer-lite CNS major) teach school is a realistic, viable or better option.  Confusing the pool of applicants is all you've really done here.  But I get what you're saying and it has some merit.  I think you need to think a little harder about the type of person that would want to be a teacher to begin with.  Not a lot of people motivated by great wealth, more likely a comfortable life with more altruistic career motives, jmho.

I really think education is best handled at the local level, where community standards can set the proper curriculum.  The federal government application of a single standard to myriad communities with myriad demographics is a real stupid way to do things.  But that's how its been for a while and its obviously not yielding any real positive results.  Putting every child that can breath in a school where they don't belong isn't helping anyone either, but that's a whole another topic. . .

Ed's structure is pretty messed up.

That said, it is underfunded in it's current form.

When new teacher salaries are anywhere in the $20k's, what kind of people do you think you attract to such salaries?   Then you are surprised why more progress can't be made.

I was making more 3 or 4 years out of college than a teacher with 25 yrs experience and their masters makes.

We are getting what we pay for.  Simple as that.

Pay better and better teachers will be produced.

do you only work 9 months a year?  teachers are civil servants and make a very fine living relative to other civil servants.

I truly thought he was playing his way out of the rafters with the first half of the season.  Apex of that being either the suspension or CU game.  KU game has launched him back into that consideration.  Tourney run will all but solidify it.

Dax has noted that they seem to retire people by era, he has great stats overall but is clearly the leader head and shoulders above anyone for the entire Huggs/Frank era.

I would like to see the 30 up there, but I think to appease the tucks it will go up (if at all) after Jake's number.

an appropriate amount of time has gone by to allow for skipping over 1991-2006 so this should get done soon.
kinda feel like Cartier should get some consideration.  He was the rock of wooly ball and the key transition piece to huggs.

No.
if you are going by era, there is no other choice.  I'm torn about it.  He was clearly the best player then, but weaker when stacked up to the rest.

let's not celebrate the shittiest era's in recent ksu hoops history

Someone on facebook said it was b/c he hooked up with a women's player in Allan Field House; both suspended (someone mentioned earlier about another women's player being suspended).

all my OregonHawk Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) type ku friends have said the same.  snuck into AFH and mumped the ku girl's player in the middle of the night.  I was like, "pffft, you can get suspended for that?!?!"

Got to thinking, rough ridin' a girl in AFH is gotta be like rough ridin' a girl in barn or a porta-john or something.  would be an unbearable stench, I'd need a little blue pill, or somethin' to stay stiff through that

Best case is probably just making the tournament.
If angel is superhuman, we make the tourney.

If he is a normal 3* frosh, we look like old versions of CU and NU.

I have high hopes for Angel.  My reasoning:  he speaks spanish (I assume) and Clemente spoke spanish.  also, Angel looks bigger than I thought he would be.  also, I watched Louisville's latino guard Siva play and he's pretty awesome and Pitino recruited Angel

admittedly, these are shitty reasons.

We'll probably win the league next year  <--- h/lbbiq post
