Special sneak peek during the mid-season finale of TWD tonight :excited:
-
:blank:
-
When does this thing actually start?
-
Feb 8th. i think they are piggy backing off of TWD audience on the mid season opener
-
amc can eff off with their rough ridin' half seasons
-
i totally agree lib^7 it's pretty rough ridin' stupid
im glad that the mike and Saul relationship story will be a part of this series
-
Gawd I miss breaking bad. 60 second sneak preview of a spinoff is better than an entire half season of walking dead.
-
This could be really great. could.

Trailer released: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btbE_9wY1nU (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btbE_9wY1nU)
Meh.
-
i always have problems with prequels where everyone is getting older all the time but playing their younger selves
possibly a pet peeve
-
little more than 24 hours away you guys :excited:
-
I saw someone said it was better than Breaking Bad. I mean, I clicked, but still.

A Cinabon in Omaha!
-
Slip and fall season. Love it.
-
HEY whats Michael McKean's relationship to Bob Odinkirk's character? Anyone glean this? I was going to guess father with the surnames and all but it kinda didn't appear so. Whatchyu guys think?
-
I was thinking brothers. Haven't ruled it out yet despite the vagueness.
-
Oh my, Tuco.
-

Good call, i'm on #TeamBrothers

Yes! I told CNSWife that last night.
-
"There, I'm #1 on your speed dial right next to your weed dealer"
Love me some saul one liners.
-
I enjoyed it. I look forward to tonight's episode.
Wait. Is this on nightly or weekly? Full disclosure: binged on Homeland hard in the last month and kinda forgot to pay attention to Better Call Saul.
-
do not watch this show and won't but this would be a good title for the tech support thread. probably luked.

First epi last night. Second epi, and all from here on, tonight(monday night show from now on)

I recorded it. Was it good?
Kinda slow. Lots of set up/background info, but it looks like the crap is about to hit the fan and James McGill is transforming into the shady Saul that we all love.

-
with a nice abuelita like that you would think tuco would be a little nicer
-
OMG. That negotiation for broken legs.
-
Interesting. Kind of a slow start, but it's certainly putting together some of the additional pieces.
-
I keep hearing people saying that it's slow, I guess I don't understand. We've been introduced to tons of characters, there are quite a few storylines that are starting to move forward, and we've already been introduced to more than one timeline.
-
I thought the first episode was a bit slow in the sense of boring. But not the second episode.
-
the Lon Kruger of tv shows
-
Definitely settling in with this show. A keeper in my book.
Also glad we obviously haven't seen the last of Tuco.
-
Balls had!
-
My balls aren't 100% gripped

Breaking bad was slow to start fwiw too. It's the pace of each scene, not who's in it to me.
-
I forgot to watch last night.
-
I wish _Fan would get over here and get us some pace of scene (POS) stats.
-
My balls are 93% had. Good start, excited for next week.

:impatient:

Watched the first 2 today, pretty great. Can't wait to see how Mike changes jobs or whatever
-
Bunny Lebowski
-
well that was rough ridin' awesome
-
Such a good show
-
Yup. I'm hooked. I wish I could binge watch it tho like I did BB. :frown:

I hope they reveal Mike's police officer backstory they mentioned in Breaking Bad.

I'm hooked.
-
Man, I forgot how much I missed BB until watching this show.

that's the dumbest thing you've ever said.
I've had bro's tell me they were going to intentionally not watch a TV show, just so they could binge at a later date: I don't get it. I guess if you want to not BBS about a show, or talk with your buds about the last new/great/surprising episode so you can have a whole Saturday to binge off, that's your choice, but I think i'd always prefer to be current.
Its like my old boss used to tell me he'd DVR sporting programs, wait until they were over, look up the score, and only watch them if his team won. Like, I see the logic in there, but I still don't think it'd be something i'd be interested in.
-
I'm behind but the scene where he negotiates to only have those dude's legs broken was absolutely great. It could have been from a mr. show skit.

how so? you'd always miss the drama of a game. games are fun to watch when the outcome is unknown

For starters, I'm too busy to watch a show every single week. I've tried and it just doesn't work for me.
I also don't get that much out of bbs'ing about a TV show and I can have conversations with people that don't reference a TV show. I did the same thing with Breaking Bad and will admit I enjoyed seeing people's reactions after the fact.
It's nothing like your idiot boss.

I binge watch when I travel.

Mich, get a DVR or something.
No, but I'd still need to make the time , and if my wife wants to watch our schedules have to match, and I'm not gonna coordinate multiple schedules for a TV show.
If she's not watching, I have to block off 45 minutes a week of me time on top of KSU sports and concerts and other generally awesome things I do to keep up. No thanks.

TV really stresses michigancat out.

having a wife sounds very restrictive

So I haven't seen a single episode of Breaking Bad. I didn't feel like binge watching after it got really popular after seasons 3 & 4. Anyway I am watching BCS. I thought the first two episodes were good enough to hold me, episode 2 was brilliant. I thought episode 3 was awful minus the last 5 minutes. I attempted to watch it 3 times but dozed off after about 20 minutes each time, the second time I woke up to see the end and I was able to follow so I don't think I missed anything in the middle 30 minutes, am I right about this or should I try for a fourth time?
Also since I didn't see BB I'm confused by why/how Jimmy becomes Saul. Will explaining this to me likely ruin a story arc? If so don't explain it to me.

You didn't miss any essential plot in episode 3. In BB, he just says he changed his name because it would be better for business if people thought he was Jewish, which is a very Saul thing to do.
-
HOW DO YOU GUYS FIND THE TIME FOR ALL THIS TV?!?!
-
crammed all 3 episoded in tonight. balls are currently in a vise grip.

Hmm, what to watch tonight . . . BCS, or Bruceketball??
Decisions decisions.
-
BCS.
-
I like being happy, so I'm going to watch BCS.
-
This game is on too late. Don't like going to bed so close to watching frustrating bb.
-
Once the game is decided (6 minutes in) go to BCS
-
LOFL
-
Enjoyed the massage chair and foot bath scene. The billboard was great.
-
just got done watching. i really like that they carried the storytelling background over from BB. i chuckled a bit when he said saul goodman, not gonna lie. i really like how this season has started, the writers are rough ridin' great at their jobs.
-
Yes. Very good.

Better than expected
-
in my minds eye amc is a top tier television show factory
-
Better than expected
How? It came from everyone's favorite series. :dunno:
-
It's a spinoff. I thought it would be a cheesy court damedy
-
you obviously dont know amc
-
Just okay
-
It's a spinoff. I thought it would be a cheesy court damedy
Evidently it was pitched, approved, and initially worked on as a half hour comedy, according to a podcast I heard. Thank God that didn't happen.

Yes, this is why I didn't have very high expectations
-
Just watched the episode last night. I told the Mrs. WNK as they started the billboard scene that I bet the guy up top was part of a scam in the making. This show is already becoming great.........it's Saullll Goooood. :)
-
I love how he's turning into a great scam artist. I also enjoyed watching him pull out those stacks of cash at his desk after he had repeatedly told that couple, "I can't take a bribe. I can't take a bribe!" He's giving fewer and fewer fucks each episode.
-
he tried to go straight :frown:

sitting down and expensing that out was great. "Oh, I ate on the road"

Chandler is a dirty boy

Someone's gonna need a lawyer! :surprised:

:excited:

Kinda boring
-
get out of here loser
-
I bet Jimmy gets F'd on that non-disclosure agreement.
He told Kim!
-
The succession and toilet scenes were pretty good tonight. That being said we're now 5 episodes in and its pretty overrated. Usually a good scene or two each episode and enough to hold you through an episode but this certainly isn't some thrill ride killing me in anticipation for the next episode.

I don't think anybody has claimed that.
-
Excited to get into Mike's story. He has potential to be an interesting charachter.
-
I like the characters, I dislike the story
-
I actually thought the first episode of this show was really, really good. So was the second. Then the third was ok and the last two were like they almost didn't even write a story.
-
I just don't care about the brother. He's a dumb dumb who's afraid of microwaves.
-
The bro and his money are going to play a big part soon, I am guessing.
-
I like the characters, I dislike the story
I don't think we know the direction the story is going yet. The last couple of episodes seem to be setting us up for something.
The audience became so accustomed to a quick pace in the last couple of seasons of BB, but earlier in the series there was a lot of set up episodes. I bet that is the case here. We don't even know Mike's story yet and we're almost half a season into the show.

We know a few things:
Jimmy had some kind of falling out bad enough to change his name (legal reasons?)
Jimmy and his brother no longer have a big connection, his brother didn't appear once in BB, wasn't even referenced.
-
He didn't have a falling out, he changed his name because people want a jewish lawyer
-
Meh, Breaking Bad didn't exactly start at a break neck pace. Walter wasn't Heisenberg overnight. I'm in for at least 1.5 seasons and would be surprised if it doesn't pay off
-
I LOVE the Matlock suit.

Mike's story :sdeek:

damn

If I see Jonathan Banks in real life I'll probably try to give him a hug.

The mere fact that Tuco is alive and well right now is probably the thing that will keep me watching. That guy is the best.

He was supposed to be the main nemesis in Breaking Bad but the actor was too busy with another show to commit to more of it.

Man, what a mistake that was. As much as I love Tuco, Gus was a better nemesis.

supposedly, they also wanted Matthew Broderick to play Walter White

-
I can't even picture that.

I can picture it, CNS.

Bryan Cranston's Day Off
-
-
I think Broderick could have knocked it outta the park.
-
Could you imagine baby faced brody saying "SAY MY NAME" with any kind of authority? I mean it was bad enough having the dad from malcom in the middle say it, but matty b would have just been terrible.
-
*spoilers!* but tuco isn't supposed to be in anymore episodes because the actor hates playing the character and only agreed to one or whatever
-
That's unfortunate. He is really great at it. I could def see not liking to play that guy though.
-
Will you be back for more episodes?
I was surprised I was coming back in the first place, because I was dead and then it was "Oh, it's a prequel, great. I might come back." I don't know if I will again. It would be interesting. It would be fun to do a few more. It's just really hard part to try to pull off. That's why you approach it sparingly to do an episode here and there.
-
So that episode wins Jonathan Banks an Emmy for best supporting actor, right?

I had the same thought. It will be tough to beat.

there is no worse acting than fake drunk acting.
-
there is no worse acting than fake drunk acting.
Fake Drunk Acting and Fake Crying Acting are the two worst ppl I know.
-
there is no worse acting than fake drunk acting.
To be fair, that could be his interpretation of how Mike would act if he were pretending to act drunk. But in general I agree with you. If I were an actor I would just get to level 5-6 before we started filming.
-
now that we know mikes backstory does he now start going back to that life?
-
God damn. Finding that money was slick as hell.
-
Very excited for next week.
-
this show has a shitload of filler
-
This show just keeps getting better and better. Eff the haters. Loved tonight's episode. Chuck is a fantastic character.
-
This show just keeps getting better and better. Eff the haters. Loved tonight's episode. Chuck is a fantastic character.
Not sure who the haters are, it's almost like everyone wants to be in on the show so no one is critical. I don't like the all over the place timelines, and like lib7 said there's entirely too much filler, these should be 30 minute episodes. The 61, 62, 63, 64 minute episodes are pretentious as eff.
-
MIR questions who the haters are, then proceeds to list things that he hates about the show.
-
I think the show is the right length as is. What would you even cut from last night's epi?
-
I'm starting to get really excited. Chuck and saul are gonna eff crap up.
-
Chuck is going to eff Saul up, because he has never really believed in Jimmy.
-
I have a feeling that Jimmy is going to get the rug pulled out from under him on this big case. It will be devastating. That's his life. It's not a feel good story.
-
Yeah, it's going to be brutal.
-
Chuck is going to fail Jimmy unintentionally due to the fact that he is at least partially insane and his insanity will leak out at some point and hurt the case irreparably.
-
I'm thinking they win the case and then Chuck's firm ends up with all of the money.
-
I'm thinking they win the case and then Chuck's firm ends up with all of the money.
Yeah, like it gets too big, they bring in HHM, then HHM either buys him out or squeezes him out. Or, maybe they somehow say it was their case to start with since Chuck was involved and still works for them, or something.
-
Yeah, Kim.was all like, "But Chuck still works for us. Oh, well. Nevermind." She is going to rip his heart out at some point in order to further her career.
-
Yeah, Kim.was all like, "But Chuck still works for us. Oh, well. Nevermind."
Then she uses HHM's resources and Chuck's HHM code to make copies to supply the case.
-
Last episode was really really good.
-
Last episode was really really good.
this.
also i think that there are two ways this is going to go. 1. chuck and saul proceed and win the case, but in the end either chuck fucks saul or HHM takes the proceeds. 2. chuck dies or goes completely insane right when saul needs him most and saul loses the case on his own. either way saul gets mumped and he decides to go off the deep end and makes his career as we see it in BB. soon it will be it's all good man.
-
They win but have to split a ton with hhm. Gets his own office but effs it up somehow and loses the money and office.
-
this current season is 6 years before BB, so there is no rush to get to bad Saul.
-
this current season is 6 years before BB, so there is no rush to get to bad Saul.
Agreed, but bad Saul doesn't get where he is with a flick of a switch. It takes time to lower to that level, create all the shady contacts, get divorced a time or two, etc that is all shown and or mentioned in BB.
-
It was so goddamn funny in BB when Saul had a guy who was willing to go to prison in someone's else place for a fee. That's so mumped up.
-
Chuck. :frown:
-
That was painful.
-
Yeah, but a really good epi
-
I feel like they're doing a better job of making Jimmy a character who you can feel empathy for then you could for Walt.
Last night's episode was easily my favorite.
-
Chuck is going to eff Saul up, because he has never really believed in Jimmy.
nice work, ksusamplemousse
-
MIR questions who the haters are, then proceeds to list things that he hates about the show.
If you think listing critiques of anything is being a hater you may need to analyze your fanboi status. Better Call Saul tuck logic? Nearly every post itt praising the show talks about the links in each episode to BB, of course someone who didn't see BB will be more critical. I'm sure they'll do a better job as the show progresses of having BCS stand on its own.
That being said, last night was awesome. If there were BB insider things they certainly weren't evident. Everything about last night's episode was perfect and served as a great lead in to the season finale. There were two holes in the episode: How did Mike know who to vet for that job? I doubt that the pharmacist would tell hired muscle who he is dealing drugs to. And, why did ol' dude from HHM tell Kim about Chuck betraying Jimmy? Those are nit picks though the episode was great, now I'm intrigued where as before I was just watching hoping to get hooked.
-
I think the HHM hole is because of some yet unmentioned value they have in Kim. She already mentioned that they put her through law school. Is that normal? Seems like it probably isnt. I would guess Howard didn't want to fully alienate a valued employee just to carry water for an obviously insane senior partner that isn't ever coming back.
-
Howard probably knocked her up or used to have a relationship with her of some sort. Are we positive he told her what was really going on?
-
Not positive, but seems likely given she wouldn't tell Jimmy.
-
Chuck is going to eff Saul up, because he has never really believed in Jimmy.
nice work, ksusamplemousse
Totally called it.
-
I would guess Howard didn't want to fully alienate a valued employee just to carry water for an obviously insane senior partner that isn't ever coming back.
That's what I was thinking. Last night, we learned that he isn't pure evil. He might not be the greatest guy, but he was also being the bad guy on Chuck's behalf.
-
Chuck is going to eff Saul up, because he has never really believed in Jimmy.
nice work, ksusamplemousse
I knew it was coming and it was still awful to watch.

Judging by what you guys have said about Jimmy/Saul's character on BB and what happened with the latest episode I'm guessing season two will prominently feature Slippin Jimmy. We haven't seen that for the most part this season I think I'd make the show funnier.

This is exactly what CNSWife and I discussed last night. Chuck turned Jimmy back into what Jimmy no longer was. Chuck is a false and horrible person.
-
TV shows rarely elicit much emotion from me, but this morning when I watched last night's episode, I wanted to punch Chuck in his fat pompous face.
-
Jimmy definitely needs a hug
-
As loveable and good as Jimmy is Chuck is kinda right tho. Chuck doesn't even know about Jimmy paying stoners to fake an accident to extort a potential client. Or Jimmy's illegal involvement with a drug dealer, or Jimmy's involvement with assisting a client with theft from a law enforcement officer.
Kinda right, just kinda
-
All good points. Pretty great character when they make you over look that and hate his brother so easily.

What a character development for Howard last night. We didn't hear the words said in the flashback at Jimmy's party for passing the bar, but now we know that was Chuck's doing too

That was trevor right? That had to be trevor

it was!!! :D

Going back to Cicero is most likely just to introduce Jimmy to some new character (for this series anyway). I doubt Slipping' Jimmy lasts very long. I would guess he won't be out of the law profession for more than an episode or possibly two.

that's not what happened to cns when he hated chuck. you don't have to suspend any disbelief, you have to be a momentary tbt.

Yep, I also called 911 and got super embarrassed during that one epi when tuco was about to kill those two kids. Got real confusing when trying to describe where in the desert they were.

i really enjoyed the newest episode, finally got a chance to watch it. i think this was the big shift in sauls life that confirmed that he should go back to what he is best at, slippin jimmy.

i guess not having emotion about anything is the best way to approach life, and berating people behind a computer screen is the best option to medicate your IRL problems, apparently.

I love the subtle BB references in BCS. Also, the Chicago sunroof
-
Okay I've given it 72 hours...
I'm guessing the lack of posts about the finale is a sign that most were disappointed by it but the fan boys can't bring themselves to be openly critical of the season finale. It was completely useless.
-
Yeah, that finale was pretty blah and extremely cliche, but sometimes good series have to do that in order to set things up for down the line.
-
The finale wasn't great, but I think it is setting up for what could be a great Season 2. I think the story was necessary.
-
The finale probably gets a C+, but season 1 gets an A-. The last scene kind of brings things full circle for Jimmy. But where is he driving to in such a hurry? It really leaves it wide open for season 2 to go in a lot of directions.
BCS reminds me more of Mad Men than Breaking Bad. The lead character is constantly fighting against himself on whether to do the right thing or to be a selfish, awful person. And for some reason you're always rooting for him to do the wrong thing because it's more entertaining.
-

You're pretty short-sighted sometimes. How the eff do you know if it's useless? You haven't seen what comes next. Hasn't Vince Gilligan demonstrated that seemingly insignificant details can actually have great meaning on down the line? So maybe the useful things in that episode just aren't totally apparent to us all yet. That being said, no, the episode was not terribly entertaining. Saul humming Deep Purple was pretty cool though, same with the origins of his ring. Pretty much a snoozefest though.
-
I don't think it was useless. It may not have been great, but it definitely advanced the story.

It was useless because after the previous episode I was able to determine that Slippin Jimmy was going to come back. The last episode was Jimmy going back home and doing the same stupid crap he was doing before his brother rescued him. The episode ended with Jimmy turning down an opportunity to do legit work. His driving out of the garage was him symbolically and literally turning his back on the man. Slippin Jimmy. It's rare in a dramatic series to have a cliff hanger that actually isn't a cliff hanger, the previous episode was that this was junk.
-
I also don't think it was useless. I do think they took an hour to do something they could have done in 15 min. I think they were just showing that he wasn't leaning toward slipping jimmy, but that he was thoroughly through trying to be anything else and gave up on the legitimate firm route forever. Not only in a moral way in what he said to Mike, but also in his decline to even talk to a firm about a partner track job. As bad of an episode as it was, it was the birth of the new and improved slipping jimmy where we were just pregnant before.

yup, like i said earlier, there's a shitload of filler on this show. the good stuff is pretty good tho
-
I don't think there is too much filler outside of two epi's.
-
maybe a little less critique and a little more enjoyment of character development. breaking bad was slow at the start, mad men(from what i have seen was), you aren't going to blow your load in the first season, why would you, then it gets bland after that. i would prefer slow and set the tone and story than blown away from the start(doesnt happen).
-
you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about

i am the moderator of this thread, of course i do

The last two episodes could have been combined into one. I think it was necessary for him to go back and do the scams with his friend because it made him realize that that's who he really is.

Putting pieces together after the season 2 premiere, I think the season 1 finale definitely helps to show that Jimmy is a hustler at heart. It's not just that he's a little crooked in order to make an extra buck or whatever, but more particularly that he gets off on hustling people.

Man, they are leading us up a pretty high mountain to watch Saul take his tumble from...it's gonna hurt real bad.

Kim wasn't wearing blue at the end. I know she was wearing his American Samoa sweatshirt, but they've been way to consistent with the blue to just say "eff it, have her wear this sweatshirt" for no reason.

This point was further driven home by Ed Beagley's everyone needs something to blow off steam line.
Also just realized both opening the season have been focused around time keeping mechanisms.

It's v good

Just watched last weeks episode. The commercial thing was dumb. No clue why he was so nervous and did what he did. His character is smart enough and a good enough talker to easily get approval to air it in some form. Tried way too hard to create a situation to create friction between him and the firm. He's also smart enough to know that if he's going rogue he should just use a phone number and not the firm name. None of that story line made sense.
-
Didn't know this was a documentary, interesting
-
Made sense to me. He knew what he wanted to do and that the firm would never go for it. Happens to me.
-
I have a feeling i'm going to hate the crap out of that younger attorney gal by the end of this season.
-
I like the connection with Breaking bad. It's starting to come together, but it's super slow. Still better than 90% of the crap on right now.
-
I have a feeling i'm going to hate the crap out of that younger attorney gal by the end of this season.
Really? I loved her. The yin to Jimmy's yang.

I'm guessing she stays legit and keeps getting crap on while Jimmy's shortcuts largely pay off
-
I don't think Jimmy will be at Davis & Mane for very long.

Same, she is annoying as crap but there's something about her character that I adore. I did miss on what I thought her role was going to be. I thought she was going to be a junior associate smitten with Jimmy making awkward, uncomfortable advances to him and he would eventually relent and get caught.
-
he saw the commercial the firm put out and it sucked. he did his own thing because he knew the firm would never approve of it.
seems simple to understand to me?
-
I also think it was a timing issue to some extent. If it took 6 months of meetings to agree to the mesothelioma blurb, he knew that would take more for his vision. And time is not something nursing home residents and potential plaintiffs have.
-
Good episode. Very little Jimmy.
-
Good episode, however next week's preview was my favorite part :excited:
-
most boring episode of the series thus far
-
Howard was walking with Kim through the office, passing by cubicles, copiers, etc. and was just completely expressionless. Then, the instant that they crossed the threshold into the public area and conference room, he was all warm and smiley. Even considering that he now hates Kim, that was creepy.

That's because Howard is a creep. Pure and simple.

yes, that is obvious, but I wanted to see the scam. I enjoyed watching Marco and Jimmy work.

Kim isn't going to cash the check. Trophy.

So, Kim's from a small Kansas town. We know she's not around in Breaking Bad, so I'm worried she's going to die or something.
WTF is Mike doing? Going after Hector? Maybe Mike is the one who puts Hector in a wheelchair.
Man, Jimmy's new suits!

Those new suits are pretty sweet. Hector looked like he'd had a stroke in Breaking Bad, not sure how you induce one of those.
-
Mike has got to be doing something to get a gig with the cartel. He ends up with Gus and Gus is in the same org as the salamancas. He is buying his daughter in law a nice house and his 25k isn't covering that. He needs decent income and understands where to get it, I bet.

In my mind's eye Kim is from Seneca, or maybe Sabetha.
I don't think Kim will die. She moves back home and that is why Jimmy/Saul chooses Omaha as a soft landing spot in Breaking Bad. It's in close proximity to Kim.
-
Howard is going to completely f Kim in a bungled job change.

Kim seemed hesitant to reveal much of her background during that interview. I wonder what her backstory is that caused her to get the hell out of Kansas and pick New Mexico as a landing spot. Maybe she has a slightly shady or checkered past too??
That montage of Saul getting dressed cut with images of the inflatable guy thingy was perfect.

They've had full flashback episodes for Jimmy and Mike. Hopefully we get a pre-ABQ Kim episode soon

I can see this theory. I don't think she's going to die because that would crush Jimmy and I don't think he'd stick around ABQ and become Saul if something that devastating happened to him.

Okay, so the long opening single cam shot following the truck crossing the border was really rough ridin' stylish and cool.
Totally loved watching Jimmy go all chimp with a machine gun crazy while trying to sabotage HHM.
Was bummed to see in the sneak peek that his plot fails. But, hey, that's Saul. One major disappointment after another.
-
I wonder how many seasons of Slippin' Jimmy we'll get until we get Saul. As discussed I've never seen BB so I'm looking forward to Saul.

I mean, he really is the same guy character wise. I don't think you could say he ever snaps and stops being slipping Jimmy. He just gets mixed up with various shady characters along the way just like he has since like the second episode of BCS.
I'm actually more interested to see exactly how Mike gets in with Gus.
-
Saul's strip mall office in BB kills me every time. The columns, the circular windows, the goddamn Constitution wallpaper, the inflatable Statue of Liberty on the roof, and the waiting room packed full with plenty of dirty, smelly looking people, thugs, crying babies, and neck braces.
I wonder if that's his cocobolo desk.

I would like to. I took up BCS from the start based on a tip that Saul was the best part of BB.

Things are getting out of hand with Jimmy. Im really interested to see how this plays out, though. We're still not up to Saul yet, but it feels closer. He won't be getting caught, i don't think, since hes still a practicing lawyer in BB (He certainly would be disbarred if he got caught forging documents) but theres no Chuck and no Kim SO WHAT HAPPENS???
-
I hope his brother dies!
-
I really like this show
-
I think that Chuck dies. Kim obvs knows that Jimmy did forge those documents and chose him over the "right" thing/going along with Chuck. Jimmy takes Chuck's death hard, tells Kim all the dets about him bribing the printer clerk, being there, etc. Kim realizes that Chuck was right and shuns Jimmy.

Kim already knows he did it tho! Did you not take hint during the bed scene?
-
If chuck dies, Kim is the only thing keeping him from fully shedding his conscience. That said, there is quite a bit of Kim left, imo, but we can't get into that here if spoilers are an issue for those who haven't watched Breaking Bad.

Yepper Kim knows. I'm saying that she's going to realize what Chuck has been saying all along about Jimmy and cuts ties with him, especially with Mesa Verde and them sharing the office.
-
Yeah, that's gotta be coming. BB mentions Omaha in the end of it. I wonder tho.... Maybe a future BCS after the BB years?
-

The opening shot of season one and two shows him working at a mall cinnabon in Omaha. It's clearly his life after his last crash and burn as an attorney in Albuquerque.
-
 I always wondered if it was before or after.
-
At the end of bb he gets a new identity from the vacuum salesman and does to Omaha.
-
Well, if we are doing BB spoilers ITT, there is a point in BB where saul makes mention of having a wife. Iirc, he acts like it was a long time ago and a difficult sitch.

i tried to hold off for max binge'n, but i couldn't any longer. eff this show's great
-
Chuck is such a major bad person. He knows that Jimmy could have him committed, knows that Jimmy won't do it, and still wants to ruin him.
-
Chuck won't do it, or Jimmy manipulates the sitch to get him committed to save his own ass. I mean, this show is a view of the slope downward. That would be a pretty great leap towards Saul.
Also, I am as much, if not more, into the Mike story as the Jimmy story.
I really do love this show. I read yesterday that they have been picked up for a third season already.
-
They had an hour post show with the writers and Mike. It was pretty great.
-
WHO WEDGED THAT BRANCH ON MIKES HORN?!?!?!?!?!?!??
-
I mean, that one guy that was trying to get him to kill Tuco would be the only one who I would have ever guessed would have helped him, but HE WAS STANDING RIGHT THERE WITH THE SALAMONCAS!!!!
Was it Gus? Surely not. Gus wouldn't GAF about that, right? If he did, he would big time Mike, and not do something so sketch, right?

The way that Jimmy worded his "confession" might mean that he does throw Chuck under the bus. I think he said something like "if it makes you feel better" and some other things that would leave it open to Jimmy claiming that he was trying to make Chuck feel better and get over it. Epesh on the "so can I go call Howard now and tell him you'll be back."
-
Yeah, I caught that too.
-
Yeah, i thought at the beginning that Chuck was more of a Lawful-Good character (to bring in some nerdy gaming terms) and whenever he does these bad person moves its because he's so straight laced he can't not do them. e.g - he's so buy-the-books that he has to report Jimmy because its in the best interest of his former client, he blocked Jimmy from joining the firm because he cut corners to be there, etc. but that he was actually a good guy at heart. This last episode kinda shows that he's probably just really an bad person/bad person.
But, at least Jimmy won't get busted, though i bet they have a "never speak to you again" falling out over this. Its kinda a bad thing about prequels, they take away some of the suspense. Jimmy can't get busted because felons can't be lawyers an hes a lawyer in BB.

I think the fun suspense is that we know how it ends because of BB, but HOW THE HELL DO WE GET THERE OMG. That opening scene of Chuck lying to Jimmy about their mother calling out for him? Holy crap, I mean if the boot fits on being a Goodman...

Cant wait for gus to show up

Cant wait for gus to show up
I mean, the branch in the car has to be Gus, right? He's the only one in the series who is smarter than him.
-
I agree with CNS that it's not really Gus's style. On the other hand, maybe Gus doesn't want to reveal his identity to Mike.
-

Would it be a new character then? Doubt it's anyone in the show already?
-
The crude handwriting tells me it was Kaylee
-
I love this show. I really really need to watch Breaking Bad before season 3 starts.
-
My first thought was that it was Nacho, but he was in the red shirt down by the house, right? If thats true, then it has to be Gus. You kinda forget that Gus was this man-behind-the-curtain/dues ex machina character for the first few Breaking Bad seasons before he actually appeared on screen so a note like that is totally Gus.

I may be weird on this, but Saul and Gus are probably my favorite BB characters.

I actively rooted for Gus over Walter. He and Mike are badasses.

Gus was a reasonable guy. Walt was a greedy bad person

If Gus comes back...
Also, I thought that scene was going to show how Hector ended up in a wheelchair unable to speak. I really thought Mike was going to pull the trigger.
Is Nacho also working for Gus? How else would Gus know about Mike?
-
So, I am assuming that Gus isn't a kingpin locally yet. I mean, Nacho is obvsly getting the drugs he and Tuco sell from Hector. Hector being wheelchair bound has to be the rise of Gus, since Tuco was selling Gus's drugs in BB. Gotta think the Mike and Gus thing comes from COLUSION against Hector as a win/win for Gus and Mike. Gus gets the region as the new supplier, and Mike gets the threat of Hector away from him and his fam. That all said, I am pretty sure Tuco mentioned Hector having a stroke when Hector was introduced in BB, not being shot. :dunno:
Thinking through it, Gus could be the note leaver. Gus may want what Mike wants but may have a better scenario for it to happen under.

Can confirm from watching the after show, that even the writers have no clue where this thing is going.

This whole thing is pretty crazy!

You know who we need?!

We'll see Jessee eventually, but they are probably going to have to set up Tuco's whole operation first, including Crazy 8. I doubt they would bring Walter White into the picture until they are getting bored and want to introduce some more comic relief.

I bet they do but it will be something in passing like he's watching with Jesse in the background across a scene.

Of course he is. That guy's been a creep since he was a professor at Cal U. and he was scamming on a first-semester freshman Kelly Kapowski. Professor Lasky knew there was precious little Zack and the gang could do about it too, because they were just cretinous little freshmen and he was an accomplished head-stuffer. I mean sure, the guys could've tried to utilize the brute strength of their RA Bob Golic to help win Kelly back, but that's nothing compared having to the brain of a cultural anthropology professor. Guy's been a creep since the very first day of classes, no surprise that he would continue being that way after changing careers and moving to the Land of Enchantment.

The whole deal with the Cartel twins threatening Mike's family makes me realize he must have really enjoyed putting down the second twin when he was in the hospital after the shootout with Hank
-
I am def going to watch BB again after Saul and Mike are fully formed.
-
I'm making the second run through BB. Couldn't stop after watching S1 on a trip. Rolling through S3 now.

Wow. I forgot about this. Great callback.

Yeah! I like this show.
-
-
Yeah, that was awful. How many times did we need to watch Mike disassemble a gas cap? Did we need to watch him eat peanuts? The best scene was the opening scene with "Gene." Of course twitter is falling all over its non specific praise of this dull ass episode. As far as I can tell the only specific praise was for buggin out from Do The Right Thing showing up on the preview for the next episode.
-
I liked Mike figuring out what happened and his subsequent trap. Cool spy stuff.
I liked Chuck plotting his evil scheme against Jimmy and bringing Howard into it. What a bastard. What is he up to?
I like the relationship between Jimmy and Kim and how you have to wonder how hard she is going to fall. Wow, I feel bad for her.
I think the scence with the Air Force guy was supposed to show an aspect of Jimmy's continual transformation, but didn't completely work for whatever reason.

Well this is disappointing, I haven't watched it yet but am/was pretty excited for it

I enjoyed the episode. There may not be tons of action in the same way as BB, but there are a lot of tense moments. I know what happened to Jimmy/Saul and Mike, but there is still a lot to be determined with characters like Kim, Chuck, Howard, etc. After last night I'm most concerned for Ernesto :ohno:
That said, the Gene in Omaha scenes to begin each season are probably 3 of the top 10 scenes in the series. The opener last night was terrific.

WC does that after every episode (yet continues to watch). So if you liked the show before, his reaction is probably pretty meaningless.
-
It's extremely slow. I continue to watch to hope it picks up like breaking bad did.
-
It's not the same style of show, dingus. It's in season 3. I think it's pretty clear what type of show it is.
-
This show is great. Some people just don't have the patience to let a story build and play out smdh
-
Sorry guys. I didn't realize this show meant so much to you. Will think twice before sharing my opinion next time.

no mention of the word "saul" on stephen baldwin's twitter

‘Better Call Saul’ Is an Extremely Slow Burn
We know how Bob Odenkirk’s ‘Breaking Bad’ prequel will end?—?but the show will take its sweet time getting there
-
Wacky, you're good, don't let the stans get you down. That episode was slow, each of the first three seasons started out slow. Gilligan can do this because the BB stans will let him do whatever he wants and will chalk it up to art. 70 minutes for what little plot development happened was absurd. We already knew Chuck recorded Jimmy, of course he was going to use it.
-
 Ty! Kinda why I'm sticking around too. Benefit of the doubt for those guys.
-
Damn. New DVR and I didn't record the show.
-
Finally watched the episode on DVR. I enjoy the slow burn. There are quicker ways to tell the story and there are a 100 shows that will take the quick way, but Gilligan has built the credibility to move slowly and he is going to use it.
I get distracted by my phone through most shows. I binge watch seasons and fast forward commercials to get to the payoff. I enjoy that BCS slowly builds tension throughout the episode since the tension that used to exist during breaks and between episodes doesn't exist much anymore.
-
Mike's plan of shooting the shoe filled with drugs was a little ridic.
-
I tapped out at the beginning of last weeks show. Let me know if it ever gets exciting.
-
I tapped out at the beginning of last weeks show. Let me know if it ever gets exciting.
You shouldn't have done that. It built well.
-
It's too slow for Mrs. Wacky now and I barely have any alone time to watch it myself. Not sure if I want to commit to it over lunch either, when parks and rec reruns are on. :D
-
It's going to be pretty entertaining when Chuck takes the stand wearing his foil-lined blazer.
-
"Better Call Saul is too slow" is the scorching hot take equivalent of "SNL used to be so much better back in 19XX".
-
Brock Landers: "Don't make fun of my shows, you ass hole! You're hurting my feelings".
-
Nope, no feelings hurt. Sometimes people just don't get a show. That's fine, there's plenty of shows other people love and I'm like WTF when I try to watch.
-
haven't watched the second epi but agree with wackster on the first one.. that was soo slow until the last 10 seconds.. but they just keep reeling me back in!
-
It's the only show that I watch and I don't mind that it's slow. I like the detail, nuance, and style.
-

Episodes two and three of this season were much much better, we weren't subjected to 20 minutes of Mike playing with a gas cap. The only thing they did in the other two episodes that were somewhat pretentious and self-serving was a 2 minute build-up of seeing Gus' face. Every scene is significant and obviously relevant.
-
Looking forward to getting home from this work trip to watch episode 3.
-
Woooooooo. It's gaining momentum. Enjoying the two storylines.
-
Saul has become a secondary character in his own show.
-
I want to fight Chuck and Howard. Does the woman from Vice Principals play the same role on every show she's on?

Oh, man. Michael McKean.

Sick 'em Nacho!
-
Man, watching Jimmy manipulate that old lady's life to get the Sandpiper settlement was depressing. I really hated his guts for that.
-
Starting to think maybe Jimmy's not on the up-and-up all the time
-
So........ how about this new season!? Three episodes in already. Can you handle the slooooow buuuuuuurrrrrrrrrn, although it feels like it might be speeding up a tad.
I'm liking the story line with Nacho.
An appearance by Gale!!

The opening last night was a little rough. It does help knowing Gus is going to box knife that guy's throat.
-
I watch because of the investment I've already made, but this is the most overrated show on television.
-
Yeah, very slow start to this season.
I think at the end of all three episodes my first thought was "Thats it?"
-
I'm really snobby about television. I don't find it intellectually stimulating. But this is the only show I watch.
-
Sup guys! AMC had a 2 night premiere to kick off the new season. Thoughts so far? I loved the "Gene opening" of episode 1.
-
I just finished s4 yesterday and honestly I can't remember anything significant happening all season
-
Lol. Before I started watching these new episodes, I tried to figure out if I'd watched season 4 or not. I had to basically read a short synopsis of most of the episodes. It turns out that I did, in fact, watch season 4!
-
But I think I might be enjoying the new season. In any case, I will probably continue to watch.
-
Would anyone disagree with this ranking of the worst characters in the BB/BCS universe?
1. Skylar
2. Chuck
3. Derp twins
I would listen if you wanted to put Hank's wife at #3
-
'lotta people in this thread outta stick to reality shows
-
Well I don't want to spoil tonight's episode for anyone who hasn't seen it yet but hooooo boy, that ending. Anyway I also wanted to have a plate of nachos to snack on but the nachos are all gone.
-
lol at you thinking that isn't a spoiler
-
I worry about the life of any character that wasn't in Breaking Bad. I'm hoping Kim Wexler just tells Jimmy to go eff himself and she's not a casualty of war.

I really can't handle the thought of anything physically bad happening to Kim so I'm choosing to believe her downfall will be of the personal/professional variety. Like at the end of BCS she will be disbarred and sitting in prison or something.

There may only be me who hasn't but I haven't seen BB and I have no idea which characters cross over. I think it's just Jimmy, Mike, and Gus, right? I thought nacho did too, guess not. Not sure about Howard. You know what, just don't answer this until the season is over.
-
I've heard that Walt and Jesse will be in the finale.

Kim is going to prison for sure. She is way too wound up on the howard stuff. I bet she gets just a little too far over her skis, wanting to get his ass, and gets caught somehow.

I think her and Jimmy's connection has gotten too strong for her not to exist in BB if she stayed alive. She dead.
-
i'm all caught up and live on the show for the first time. wow what an ending to s5e3. sucks that i have to wait a week for episodes now.

Not if Jimmy chose his not going to prison over her.
He mentions once in BB that he used to be married and it didn't end well. I don't think there was any detail other than that, iirc.

Ahh yeah forgot about that.

Jimmy and Kim are real pieces of crap, Howard really pegged them.
-
I’m working through S5, so I don’t know what is happening now, but is Kim a POS on her own or is Jimmy taking her down? Her storyline is stressing me out.

You're just gonna have to wait until you get to season 6
-
Probably best I just keep out of this thread.

Didn't Kim love scamming in people at bars before she graduated law school?
-
took a few weeks of pretty solid binge’n and realizing at some point in s2 that I’d already seen the first couple of seasons, but i can finally read this thread again. this show is pretty damn good.

"Better Call Saul is too slow" is the scorching hot take equivalent of "SNL used to be so much better back in 19XX".
I just started the final season and I marvel at how they can take 10 minutes to like unload a truck or pan across a desert.

Personally it makes me appreciate what good directing can look like. It wasn’t really until Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul that I appreciated you can build tension without jumping from one plot point to the next.

I don't know which episode this is referring to but yeah. I can't even remember why they decide to go after him
-
Seriously Kim is so dumb
-
:surprised: :sdeek:
I thought the final season resumed tonight, I had no idea it restarted nearly a month ago and I didn't realize it until I just finished the first episode of the second half of the season.

it's pretty good and then the latest episode is complete trash

Yeah the last 2 episodes have been kinda meh. Hopefully they turn it around pretty quick!

I actually only saw the second to latest! the latest looked like another black and white snoozer.
also, semi spoiler, but the period from Kim leaving to Saul living in a mansion with a hooker was quite a quick transition given how slowly everything else goes on the damn show

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. It will be interesting to see how they wrap this up. The latest did have a bit of a surprise though...
-
I didn't care for last nights episode. Too much jumping around to different times. I don't really care what happened to Saul after Breaking Bad unless it involves a reunion with Kim.
-
:sdeek:
damn a bunch of crap went down
-
Yea I thought it was a good episode. Kim's dynamic with her new Florida boy toy was cringe to watch (which I think was the point).
-
MEH. GONNA BE SOMETHING DUMB WITH WALTER WHITE NEXT WEEK. LET'S WRAP IT UP.
-
ha yeah, i know they've gotta do something tie in-wise but could sorta do without the pinkman/walter fan service stuff, idgaf
-
really crawling to the finish line here
-
ha yeah, i know they've gotta do something tie in-wise but could sorta do without the pinkman/walter fan service stuff, idgaf
What bothers me is there are like 100 episodes of Saul and Walter White and Jesse. We don't need the "lost tapes" lol. Both of those scenes were just so cringey.
-
It was clear they just wanted to get people to mention the scene with Walt and Jesse on Twitter so they could get a couple more viewers.
The last 3 episodes have confirmed what I was worried about, which is that the origin stories of Mike and Gus are the reason the show has been so great. The scams that Jimmy/Saul pull are really fun, but outside of those, the Saul storyline is pretty boring.
-
I've really enjoyed the last few episodes and I didn't even watch BB. I wasn't bothered or confused by Walter and Jesse's scenes.
The only thing I didn't like was how Gus killed Lalo, that was really stupid, and then the scene with Gus, Eladio, and Hector, equally stupid. Could they not write a more believable way for Gus to beat the Salamancas?
-
I'll defend the writers' decision on that, but it's related to BB (spoilers ahead).
Gus has an inflated self esteem because of a lucky shot that killed his antithesis, and I think it's intentionally written to be like Walt's inflated self esteem based on something comparable. In BCS it was a much less glorious death of the antagonist to really drive the point home, but it seems very intentionally related to the way the protagonist kills his biggest enemy in BB.

I do know how Gus dies in BB. What you described is far too smart for me, my mind is far too basic to fathom that.

There was literal fire in Gus eyes when he looked at Hector during that scene.
Bravo, Vince.

Bravo, Vince

Very good finale. Jimmy and Kim sharing one last cigarette. That's about as close to a happy ending as this show could give.
-
Interesting watch for someone who didn't see BB.
-i spent this entire series wondering about Mike's daughter in law and his granddaughter. Do they have a role and resolution in BB or do they just exist to seemingly humanize Mike?
-They gave a big time spoiler about Walter White on tonight's finale and it was 100% unnecessary.
-Until Kim was introduced to the finale in the last 20 minutes, all of the things discussed were about things he did on BB. He didn't have any charges related to anything we saw on BCS.
-Was the bus ride to prison scene related to something on BB?
-Why did Howard's widow call Kim? I didn't get that at all.
-
I have a hard time having sympathy for BCS having Breaking Bad spoilers. I can be talked out of that take.
I see the frustration in the things he was being charged for only occurring on Breaking Bad, but obviously those are insane things to have done and outside of robbing that store they are way more recent than anything they showed in Better Call Saul.
The bus ride thing was very strange. I definitely thought it was going to lead to the prisoners getting the bus to stop and Saul having a plan to get them all free. I definitely did not see it going in a way that redeemed Saul to some extent.
-
No one should feel bad about the spoiler on it's own, the show has been off the air for nearly a decade. It's the fact that spent all these episodes providing no spoilers at all, then on the last episode they gave what I'd assume is the biggest spoiler, on a throwaway line, it was sloppy. Jimmy could have easily said "Jesse Pinkman is still out there" leaving some mystery, to those who haven't seen the show, about what happened to Walter. Did he become a snitch, is he in jail, is he dead?
I'm going to watch BB, hopefully, someday.
-

Jerome Tang was a great hire!
(that's just a hilarious joke about thinking you meant "basketball analysis" when you clearly meant "Breaking Bad analysis")

ok finally watching the finale. why on earth was hank's wife at that thing lmao

OMG the bus scene was the corniest scene ever

Yeah. I thought he was gonna get jumped. But then it just turned out to be kids on the bus to summer camp.

Yes to all of michigancat's comments. I had an audible reaction to the Sin City-esque lit cigarette.
-
I'll admit that I liked how he redeemed himself at the end in a small Albuquerque courtroom. Got some good showmanship in his natural habitat but turned a corner even if it landed him in prison for way longer.

If you're going to try to pull that corny crap, why not do it with his suit in the courtroom???? The cigarette was the worst intersection of goofball-y and arty film school crap but at least a colored suit would have been full on campy and fun.
