GAH! Parts 3 and 4 were extremely disturbing. If it was a freak show you wanted, it was in full blown effect for these two episodes. dal, looks like it was good for you to dip out when you did if you were disinterested in this. First and most importantly, the Watkins father son combo are incredibly weird and even more dangerous. First of all they are absolutely white supremacists, they are both also lying, degenerate, incel sex freaks. They are the type of people we mock on this thread and on this board all of the time, but these dudes are extremely dangerous and have a pretty wide swath of influence.
We once had that conversation about these type of people with guns don't need to be feared because they aren't the personality types to actually have the guts to carry out acts of mass gun violence. The documentarian paints a pretty compelling picture of this being the case with the Christchurch shooter, but the difference is that the people on 8 chan essentially pressed and even bullied this dude into carrying out that mass murder. They don't make the direct link to other shootings like the Pittsburgh Synagoue shooting, and the El Paso shooting, but they strongly hint that both shooters were influenced by the constant talk of violence on 8 chan. I got the impression that the Watkins dad is a sociopath and that is his motivation to oversee all of this. The son seems to be a social pariah, but he found a place online where he not only felt welcome, but he found a level of influence that is intoxicating.
They did reveal a massive lie from the first two episodes that they didn't explore further, and that was frustrating. The narrative after the first two episodes was the father was the connected one but he was not tech savy enough to pull this off, so the son was the tech muscle behind 8 chan and the start of Q. It was revealed that the father at one point was known as the porn king and he ran several porno websites, and this was before his son could have done it for him. He clearly knows technology much more than he lead on and he and his son are equals in this endeavor. Possibly the filmmakers didn't explore this further because the dad was caught in several lies in this doc. I don't know the time frame of shooting this thing but he clearly forgets some of the bs and has a hard time keeping things straight, sort of like the cheeto.
I could go on and on about these two episodes, there was so much to them, so much so that you could completely miss the first two episodes, start here and be totally disgusted at what you see. I'd still recommend watching the first two parts though.
The filmmaker essentially walks us right up to the line of telling us who Q is without explicitly telling us. It looks like it is a couple of people working together. When they walk us to the evidence it's a little bit of a duh moment, like the Tucker Carlson thing was in the Lady and the Dale.
