I’m confused as to why Killers of the Flower Moon isn’t getting much talk here. It’s def going to be a front runner for best picture and a seminal movie.
What gives?
It's great. The fact that the film was created with the blessings of the tribe and filmed there is a very big deal in terms of media/film industry telling a story and utilizing the tribe to help tell the story.
not to mention the economic boost to that area. I recently got to chat with a guy who was involved. His cousin played the elder/chief in the beginning scene in the lodge when they were burying their sacred stuff.
He talked a lot about how the Nations/tribes are incredibly wary of whites telling their stories and this will hopefully lead to others finding native stories to tell.
His brother or cousin was also a writer on Reservation dogs and Res Dogs has done much of the same. These movies/series will hopefully open the door for other indigenous artists and stories.
Really great perspective.
