Line is noticeably younger and more female than 2016...
-
Why do people vote on election day, when they can vote in any number of way more convenient fashions?
-
It's our god given right to get out of work for 2 hours with zero consequences.
-
I see the meltdown portion is starting earlier than expected :Chirp:
-
It's our god given right to get out of work for 2 hours with zero consequences.
I was agreeing with you, lib.
-
There's an proposed amendment for the Florida that would ban oil drilling in state waters AND also ban the use of vape pens in commercial/government buildings.
-
ban the use of vape pens in commercial/government buildings.
I would commit so much voter fraud to make sure this passes
-
I like voting on the things more than voting on the people and then having to hope those people do the right things.
-
The line in south OP was very short and the crowd was pretty much what you'd would expect with the exception of maybe more chicks. I was done in under 8 min. I will go on record to saying I voted for Orman because I think KK is a humongous POS. (ftp://:thumbsup:)
-
You're a great American pwood

well, I'm pretty certain 50%+ of people who voted for kk also think he's a POS. that's just the thing when you're non-subjectively a POS.
-
It's just very LOL to me that those two things are bundled together in an amendment. It's also very LOL that someone thinks that banning vape pens rises to the level of changing the state constitution.
-
chuckled at the libertarian senator candidate named Japheth. missouri!
-

voting on things is so satisfying. i'd love to have a pure ballot measures vote every month or so.
-
MSNBC accidentally broadcast a test graphic showing Gillum winning Florida in a squeaker. This seems to happen every election cycle at least once, and it always favors the Dem candidate. Weird coincidence.
But in other news, that podunk newspaper in Michigan promptly fired the reported who was caught on the James answering machine saying she hopes he doesn't effing win after she left a message asking for an interview and thought she hung up. I still think he ought to give her an interview today.
I have no polling place observations today because I voted early.
Good luck to the liberal pit'rs.
-
Voter frauding my ass off. Never updated my Kansas Address. Lol. Dumbasses!
-
Do you guys have fancy voting machines? My place just has paper ballots. And all the places to vote with those privacy wall thingys were taken so I had to sit over in the corner at this table with a vase of flowers on it.
-
Fill in the dots on a paper ballot in Kentucky and feed it to the scanner.
Pretty decent crowd but moving quickly at 9a this morning in Spencer County. Took me ten minutes or so.
-
I always vote no on all the judges.
Anyone else?
-
This year I decided to retain all the femaley names and get rid of all the maley names
-
For the primary, my polling place had me use a touchscreen kiosk to create my ballot. The kiosk then prints the ballot and you have to carry it by hand to feed into a scanner on the other side of the room to actually cast your vote. Not even shitting you. It's like the least efficient procedure I've ever seen but this is somehow supposed to give more faith in the integrity of the ballot box.

Good luck this year, Tom.

I think I’m maybe still registered in Kansas because I keep getting robo-texts from Trump. Should have seen if they would mail an absentee ballot to Illinois

I always vote no on all the judges.

I wish more people did that with our Kansas SC. I vote against the ones I don't like. Most of the Sedgwick CO judges are actually pretty good.
-
Interesting. I’ve been getting texts non-stop for weeks now, 8man. None from Trump. Different numbers from all over the state.

It also allows anyone to vote anywhere regardless of ballot. It's a great system and gets rid of the partially marked bubble issue. That you think it's inefficient is laughable
-

Anyone else?
i vote yes on the ones i think should be retained and no on the ones i don't.
-
I always vote no on all the judges.
Anyone else?
Yep. I want them to know there is at least one person out there that wants them gone. STAY ON YOUR TOES JUDGES.
-
I got a text from a Greg Orman worker reminding me to vote. I think they got my number when I signed the petition to get him on the ballot.
I also got this text from a 316 number:
Hey, Mary here. Tomorow is Election Day! Have you made your plan to vote? Will you vote on way to work? During lunch? Or on your way home?
I have no idea who Mary is.
Also, because I have an iphone and an Apple Watch, I'm being inundated with vote reminders on both devices. Good to know Apple is doing their part to increase voter turnout among the tech-zombie dumbasses.

I think the inefficiency he’s talking about is printing it AFTER filling it out electronically. I actually do prefer just bubbling in paper myself.
-

paper record, you russian meddler.
-
It's all the advantages of an electronic machine with a paper backup. Not surprised the voter suppression crowd hates it
-
If you guys just text "stop" you will not get those texts. But don't text "stop you stupid idiots" because that doesn't work. Just text "stop".
-

In the past, my touchscreen kiosk kept a paper backup. You could actually watch the machine print the paper backup on a little receipt slip behind glass in the bottom right corner of the voting kiosk. But this year was the first time the machine actually hands the printed ballot back to me, for me to immediately scan it into another machine. If anybody knows the extra security this adds, please let us know.
-
Lots of olds in my voter line in Shawnee. Had to walk one of the old ladies up to the desk to vote. Confidence rising!
-
If you guys just text "stop" you will not get those texts. But don't text "stop you stupid idiots" because that doesn't work. Just text "stop".
I wish this worked on more areas in life. Man that's a good movie idea.
-
Just got my second text of the day from an unknown 316 number....
Elections have consequences. Make your voice heard. Do you know where to vote?
I'm going to play along and see where this goes.
-

Yeah, the main character starts texting stop to things like his kids crying or his boss getting on his case or his wife's annoying habits, but then he realizes that he's actually stopping the things that make him who he is and that there are unintended consequences to just stopping things in your life that you don't like and now he would do anything to hear his kids cry or see his wife's annoying habit but he never will again but then something happens and he can and it's a happy ending.

i thought when you mentioned voter frauding earlier itt you meant you were still voting in MO

If anybody knows the extra security this adds, please let us know.
i'm guessing that you're supposed to review it so you know your vote was accurately recorded.

i thought when you mentioned voter frauding earlier itt you meant you were still voting in MO
He voter frauded while living in Missouri too :frown:
-
2016. For sure, but I would think you Missouri libs would want my vote in Kansas anyways. :dunno:
-
I reported it to the secretary of state's office, he takes these things very seriously.
-
I always vote no on all the judges.
Anyone else?
I voted yes on all of them the last time because of the big campaign to vote them out so Brownback could replace them with judges who wouldn't make the state adequately fund schools. I voted yes this time because I feel like Kobach is likely to win and would want to do the same. In other elections, I've always voted no.

I'm sure they will just make you vote on a provisional, then proceed to not count that vote.

I felt kind of bad for not really reading about any of the judges so I just decided that the ones in Wichita and Olathe were doing shitty and voted no to them.

I voted yes because I felt guilty not knowing enough about them and I don’t want to force someone out of a job for not doing my research. Moral compass! <——-

Why do people vote on election day, when they can vote in any number of way more convenient fashions?
I don't think voting by mail is more convenient at all, probably less because you have to sign up somehow (I think). Of course I have a tiny polling place closer to my house than a post office and never have to wait in line.
-
I don't think voting by mail is more convenient at all.
it is. you sign up once and then for forever they send you ballots whenever there's an election and you fill them out and send them back. also you can fill them out with the help of google so you don't have to do Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) crap like pick judges based on their names.
-
I put mine in the mailbox right by one of the dog's favorite crap spots Sunday night. Hasn't been received/counted yet.
-
I noticed several people doing this to the machines while I was in line. The voter people didn’t seem to care much.

Change votes, not count votes, only count votes for a certain choice, only show candidates for certain districts or parties. The options are endless!
-
Pretty sure it's illegal to do what that girl is doing. The videoing, I mean. Hacking the machine is probably illegal, too.

lol

It's illegal to video yourself at a hacking conference?

I also don't believe tbt saw anyone doing that, let alone multiple people

In most states I’d bet this was simple incompetence, but Georgia has seemed fairly messed up on the voter suppression issue for weeks leading up to this

KSU-W: Kemp is going to win anyway so eff your vote. Also never mind all the other items on the ballot.
-
Kemp isn't going to need voter suppression to beat Abrams.
Unfortunately, we will never know if this statement is true or not.
-
Is kemps voter suppression even worse because it's done out of pure pleasure instead of political strategy?
-
Oh, If I know the insane right wing of the Kansas tea party wants the judge out, I vote to keep them..
-

yeah, I keep the judges the incels hate
-
Geez guys. Had no idea people were so up into the GA gov race. Failing to supply some extension cords at one polling place seems like a pretty reasonable oversight but maybe I’m being naive.
-
There is that little matter of deciding to erase 350k mostly black voters, just a minor thing
-
definitely a bigger issue than a random journalist opining about a random congressman (?) in a random like meade-level 2A town in michigan
-
Voted. Paper. Didn't vote on judges cuz I don't know crap about judges.

Anyone who thinks the secretary of state stole power cords out of box to suppress votera is delusional and mentally handicapped. What's even dumber is that the people running the polling place are incapable of locating a few extension cords.
-
That said, I choose to believe the russians did it.

I did not vote for the incumbent R governor.

One thing that limits the electoral impact of restoring ex-felons’ voting rights is that they turn out at particularly low rates. To demonstrate this, we first look to the population of ex-felons who were restored the right to vote under Crist and calculate what share voted in 2016. We find that just 16 percent of black and 12 percent of nonblack ex-felons voted. (We defined nonblack as white, Hispanic, Asian, and other due to data limitations.)

To demonstrate this, we first look to the population of ex-felons who were restored the right to vote under Crist and calculate what share voted in 2016. We find that just 16 percent of black and 12 percent of nonblack ex-felons voted. (We defined nonblack as white, Hispanic, Asian, and other due to data limitations.)
ok. and?
that's still 200,000 votes in a state where elections are routinely decided by < 50,000.
-
I cant believe 15% of the state have a felony on their record
-
The potential electoral impact of Florida’s ballot initiative is further limited by the fact that the ex-felons who do vote are not politically uniform. While black voters within this population overwhelmingly register with the Democratic Party (87 percent), nonblack voters within this population were more likely to register as Republicans (40 percent) than as a Democrats (34 percent). The fact that 26 percent of the remaining nonblack voters affiliate with neither party suggests that their votes may not reliably be cast for either party.

I’ve been tuned in to CNN for most of the night because they have the best charts and graphs but boy do they seem whiny about this failed blue wave deal.

That seems pretty difficult to blame any one person, but yes Democrats have had a pretty terrible record of building and supporting our terrible "criminal justice" system.

would also be curious to know how many of those felonies are non-violent drug crimes. ridiculous that it's 15%.

I think whoever started the "war on drugs" got the ball rolling pretty nicely but nobody has done crap about it since. I one party or individual is going to point the finger at another party or individual they are going to look like rough ridin' idiots doing it.

What a night!
Best part was the spectacular gain by Pubs in the Senate. +4?! Heller disappoints in NV, but the GOP has a real shot as knocking off Tester in MT! These gains are huge for Trump continuing his streak of sterling judicial appointments. Yay rule of law!
Another bright spot - FL and OH governor wins which will be important for 2020 redistricting in these all important swing states.
Losing House to Dems a mild disappointment. Glad it wasn’t a Blue Wave. We learned that The Resistance  couldn’t hold the Tea Party’s collective jock strap. So as I said last night, San Fran Nan’s gonna have just enough of a majority to put their crazy on full display, not enough to do much meaning except investigate, investigate, investigate! Expect some very frustrated activists. The big question is, will the Dems impeach Trump? I think almost certainly, against the wishes of the party leadership. Expect Mueller to finish his report and conclude that there is no evidence of Russian Colluion, but suggesting that Trump did something with the appearance of being wrong that legal experts on the left will scream is Obstruction!!!! and legal experts on the right will correctly argue is not obstruction. So the Dems will impeach, narrowly, and it will cost them bigley in 2020 because Americans will see this for the sham it is.
Biggest disappointment is Kansas. Sigh, Kansas. What are we gonna do with you, you effed up state full of politically confused people where I live? Yes, the GOP legislature majority became slightly more conservative last night (more on that in a bit), but with Governor Kelly the floodgates are open for a coalition of the Dems and the Fake Republicans to pass Medicaid Expansion plus bloated budgets full of other crap we can’t afford, like even more money to “fully fund” education. This same coalition will then “reluctantly” agree we need some more tax increases. The Gov will also replace 3-4 SC judges, ensuring a liberal supermajority for a generation. Emboldened, expect much more craziness from the robes, including a right to abortion in the KS Constitution. If it even occurs to them (it probably won’t), the “moderate” Pub voters who enabled all this will just shake their head and say “that’s why I wanted Colyer.”
Still, all in all a decent night.
-
That Claire chick getting her ass kicked in Missouri made me happy. She just looks like crazy libtard overall.

These liberal judges that we have had for at least a decade are going to find that abortion is a right guaranteed by the Kansas constitution now, though.

@stevedave as a moderate do you think its nice to have house and senate run by different parties? Seems like a nice idea to me.

Super High Tech Alabama couldn’t have had a more efficient ID check, receipt of ballot, vote, scan ballot system. 15 mins total and it was busy. Touch screens, electronic verification, electronic sig, clerk electronically initials. Just fantastic.

I’d probably prefer a house/senate run by the same parties (narrow majority), and a (non-dumbass) president of the opposite party.

Dem senators received 14 million more votes than pubs
-
So in Kansas, aside from the governor debacle (from my perspective), conservatives actually had a fantastic night in the statehouse. I had no idea how good until I looked at the races today. There are still three races that are too close to call, but assuming the leads in those races hold (and they probably will), we're looking at a net Dem loss of one seat from 40 to 39. Much more importantly, the GOP faction stands to become more fiscally conservative by 12-14 seats.
I judged this based upon the candidates' positions (and votes cast, in the case of incumbents) on income taxes and Medicaid expansion. I say 12-14 because there are a few candidates who were extremely vague to virtually nonexistent on their positions. (By the way, doing this research further confirmed that our legislature has a lot of mouth-breathing weirdos to downright creeps. It's a horror show.)
The big caveat is that there are still enough Dems and "Moderate" Pubs (about 75) to form a coalition to outvote conservatives (about 50) on things like higher spending, Medicaid expansion (but I repeat myself), and tax increases, but at least the margins are much closer than before last night.
-
So, Lindsey Graham new AG, Haley appointment to SC senator?
-
That seems to be what's unfolding

Yeah, any other GOP candidate would have won governor last night.

Kris Kobach has an open schedule.... And he’d have no problem getting confirmed with this amazing new senate majority.

there's also a decent chance she's going to lose. california has another week or two of ballot counting to go.

looks like Sinema just took the lead so that's back to +3? for the Republicans. Seems as though Nelson is still very much in play in Florida...

I think I heard that McSally was the first woman ever to fly a plane in combat. Pretty cool story that's completely ignored by the national media, despite heavy coverage of the race. Almost certainly bc she's a pub running against a leftist whackadoo.

still a complete tossup. with the spread of late mail in balloting, people need to get rid of the idea that they're going to know election results the night of the election.

Do they keep “finding” ballots?
I don't know, but if they do they should absolutely count them. also should confirm they are legitimate and find out why they weren't counted in the first place and take whatever action necessary against whoever intentionally or unintentionally caused them to be missed. do you disagree with any of that? feels like something everyone should be on board with but I'm just a moderate so what do I know.

Sounds good resident heavily left leaning moderate.
But with the legions of Dem lawyers descending on Broward County I’m sure it’s going to be a mess.
Once again that area is violating numerous election laws. Lots of other places in Florida that are heavily populated and they get it done. But weirdly, not Dem laden Broward County (again).
But ya see, nobody (but Dems) can question this.

I don't know the party affiliation of the Broward County Election Commissioner, but I did read where she is a double dipper. Collecting a Florida pension as a school system retiree and now earning about $150K as election commissioner. Was appointed by Jeb.

What’s strange is that many Republicans seem to be suggesting that the solution to these places breaking the law is to simply stop counting the ballots. Seems to me that if you thought there was fraud going on, you’d want to recount the whole thing.

But ya see, nobody (but Dems) can question this.
yes, steve dave is the partisan in this exchange
I always thought the "I'm a moderate" thing was a schtick. I had no idea he was full blown delusional.
In any event, the problem in Broward magically happens every election cycle. It's like they do it on purpose.

How is destroying ballots not a fireable/recallable offense for an election commissioner? Oh wait, wait, she's a Dem in a county where 2/3's of the affiliated voters are Dems. Never-mind.
-
This woman is either corrupt or incompetent, or both
Snipes is also the subject of a lawsuit, filed in August by the American Civil Rights Union before the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, which questions Snipes' handling of potentially ineligible voters.
Broward was also criticized this year for the design of the ballot. The Senate race was displayed on the bottom left corner, below the instructions. Some 24,000 cast a vote for governor, displayed at the top of the ballot, but not Senate, according to the Orlando Sentinel
But yeah, accusations of fraud are a "lie"

Totally not suspicious, particularly since those votes are required by law to be counted by 7pm on Tuesday
"On election night, Broward County said there were 634,000 votes cast. At 1 a.m. today, there were 695,700 ballots cast on election day. At 2:30 p.m. today, the number was up to 707,223 ballots cast on Election Day. And we just learned that the number has increased to 712,840 ballots cast on Election Day.
Miraculously, the counties hit by a cat4 hurricane didn't have problems complying

This story was published in May 2012.
The initial list of 180,000 names was whittled to 2,625, according to the Florida Department of State. The state then checked a federal database and stated it found 207 noncitizens on the rolls (not necessarily voting but on the rolls). That list was sent to county election supervisors to check and it also turned out to contain errors. An Aug. 1, 2012, state elections document showed only 85 noncitizens were ultimately removed from the rolls out of a total of about 12 million voters at that time.

Tuter stopped short of granting the Scott campaign's request for an injunction to impound the machines, but agreed with his lawyers that "there needs to be an additional layer of confidence" in the vote-recount system in Broward. The votes in the U.S. Senate race between Scott and incumbent Bill Nelson are part of the recount.

I remembered correctly!
Economic score: -0.52
Social score: -7.3
Your score pegs you as economically centrist and socially far-leftist.
Economic centrists generally support economic policy that they see as fit for specific situations, although they may have different views relating to taxes and regulation.
Social far-leftists generally believe that the government has no business enforcing morality on most matters, instead favoring a government that intervenes only when absolutely necessary to avoid direct harm. Many social far-leftists also look negatively on the government's past attitudes toward groups they view as persecuted, although some simply oppose government intervention on utilitarianist grounds.
apparently, i group with 8man, puni and cns. although i am happy to note that i am socially more extreme than any of them.

1. It’s really not that hard to read.
2. If they didn’t care enough to realize they hadn’t voted for senate, I don’t feel bad that it didn’t get counted.
A machine issue would be pretty messed up though.

So 6 second attention span nation has trouble with ballots?

if you can't figure out a ballot I am not sure what to tell you

"enjoy your 'pub senator, dumbass."
-
It’s a bit confusing to me cause I kept hearing how Dems are notoriously bad about turning out for midterms vs Republicans. Would not have guessed turnout would be even in 2010 and 2014.
registered 'pubs turnout at a higher rate; there are more registered dems. i didn't know that the effects cancelled each other out in 2010 and 2014, though.

Wacky seems to get really upset by interracial dating. Is this a religious thing?

Looks and smells like a combo Libderp7 profiling and misogynistic thing.

yeah i guess i should clarify my question
in 2010 midterms turnout was even D-R
in 2014 midterms turnout was even D-R
in 2018 midterms D's turned out 4% more than R's
is this (the D turnout, not the election results) the start of a trend or just trump effect?

Republicans have to have better turnout for the numbers to be even.

Like 99% of dem voters are dumb AND lazy, so I'm not sure why this is surprising.
If a pub did this, they'd be accused of voter suppression ad nauseum

I met Sharice Davids this morning. She's a very polite nice person.
-
She is a family friend of a republican acquaintance of mine and he says the same. (pub acquaintance voted for her)

I didn't register in Kansas after I moved soon enough to vote (am registered now!) but Mrs. Cf3 voted for her.

Leaving work early today to swing by a couple voting places on my way home.

I think I speak for everyone when I say that nobody has a clue what HSPRA stands for.

I think he's referring to segregation.

And I think he meant to say HSPA.

@stevedave as a moderate do you think its nice to have house and senate run by different parties? Seems like a nice idea to me.
checks and balances are very important CF3. agree with you on this.
I also endorse this idea
Yep. This is why I voted for Rauner in the battle of sleazeball IL gubernatorial candidates. He may be awful, but at least he’ll push back on also awful Madigan
Madigan: gone after 50 years in district 22, resigned as IL Democratic Party leader too
