Hoo boy! Well, I personally cannot wait to unveil the CPI for football this season, but alas, the Strength of Schedule component won't have any real meaning until about four weeks into the season :frown:. I'm not sure there is any understanding to be had within those results. If you could work the teams' primary uniform colors into their rankings, I think you might really have something.

It will be pretty much garbage for the first game (no data yet, unless I use last years final data, which is not very good to do) and the second game will be too dependent on the first game. The third game will be the first prediction that I would put any stock in.

When you have time, I'd like you to think about the predictive value of The Index for Farmageddon, based on each team previous opponents, etc. I know a few "movers and shakers" associated with this event, and they are VERY interested in The Index as a barometer for this game.

It doesn't and doesn't attempt to. This is only valid for the year of play. The loss of any important players will be reflected in the accumulated statistics throughout the season.

I used 135 because that is close to the average number of plays per game last season. Obviously KSU was under that mark, but most of the BIG XII was quite up-tempo with all of the no-huddle and whatnot. What's interesting is even with our slowed down tempo, our defensive efficiency was mediocre. In other words, teams still scored fairly quickly against us when they had the ball.
