it's our last water polo season (probably) and gearing up for summer tournaments there is drama as there usually is. Since there aren't enough girls at any one club, clubs will join forces to create more competitive teams. Anyway my daughter's club and another club were merging and planned to have an A team and a B team. At least that's what one of the coaches thought. There were 3 or 4 combined tournaments with one team and eventually the other coach (who was going to lead the A team in summer tourneys) thought it was going to be one big team with a huge bench while my daughter's coach thought there would be an A and a B team (so weaker players from both clubs could play a lot at an appropriate level).

The two team would have worked brilliantly EXCEPT the A team coach and/or his weaker players decided that his weaker players would not play on the B team, despite the fact that they clearly should based on ability. Which led to my daughter's coach pressuring my daughter (who was clearly an A-teamer) into playing with the B team to guarantee the weaker players of his club would have an opportunity to play on a more competitive team. Like, he tried to tell her she were depriving the weaker players of a chance to play at all and that the A-team coach didn't want her or have space for her when the A coach flat out told her he wanted her on the team and told them that they were depriving the weaker players of a chance to play. Really not cool.

anyway she is playing with the a-team in a couple of weeks and she will have a lot of fun (hopefully)

I forgot to add that for many kids and parents NONE OF THEM had any of this communicated to them at all until rosters were sent out TWO WEEKS before they needed to be locked for the ENTIRE SUMMER. Everyone just thought there would be some clear communication from them but it never came. These two bozos are some of the worst communicators I've ever seen. They're trying to be diplomatic while also being petty and trying to be competitive while also protecting their own clubs. I also forgot to mention that the A-team coach brought in some ringers from outside the region (which didn't bump my daughter from A but definitely bumped some others)

This whole situation sucks. You know who it sucks the most for? The kids that these idiots think they are looking out for.

Wow, that seems like a huge PITA. We just do the same thing, but let the league do all the logistical stuff you have to manually do. That is pretty much exactly how our coach does league play so that's pretty cool. Lil SF bats toward the bottom and has gotten really unlucky with at bats so far this year. He has been on deck like 4 times when something has happened and he didn't get to hit. Tuesday night the storms in KC were coming in and i'll be honest, the 3 and 2 folks were pretty much waiting for a kid to get zapped before they cancelled the game. He was up and his DA friend got picked off ending the inning. He then got up and after the first pitch, they finally called the game. Coach had him bat at the top for the next game to get him and others more at bats. Even when coach does stuff like that we still kick the crap out of most teams in league play so I'm guessing if we are still on this team next year, we won't do league, but who knows. Tourneys can be brutal. I love it mostly, but its giving up a whole weekend so adding more will be tough.

It's not that big of a PITA and it's a very small tradeoff to being able to have complete control over our schedule. Date, Time, Location, Opponent, etc. I don't think a league would even be feasible for us. Also I don't know of any competitive spring/summer leagues in Omaha. All the leagues are just rec (which it sounds like maybe what your team is in since they're beating the doors off teams?). I know some of our peers will put together teams to play fall competitive leagues but we have too many kids playing football to make it work.

yeah, its def gotten to be more of a "rec" league as they've gotten older. Your situation sounds pretty good being able to play teams you know. No one is having any fun out there for an hour 45 when the other team is walking everyone. They do max 5 runs per inning but no run rule. So basically if you are up by 16 after the 4th, the game is over because the other team can't catch up. Those games suck ass. Its def not every game, but its getting more and more like that.

yeah, that sounds awful. we play USSSA rules for all games. run rule is 15 after 3 or 8 after 4.

Yeah, run rule games suck as regardless. We play USSSA tourneys. No idea why league play is different.

You guys know how I always come on here and complain that I spend 2 hours putting everything in the Chase portal only for it to error out or tell me I need to call every time I book and then I have to spend an hour on the phone telling the person the same stuff I just entered into the system and you guys think its way more hilarious than I do???

Well buckle up MFers! The travel booking curse continues!!! Just tried to check in to my flights and one person got the dreaded "passport doesn't match reservation info" error. Called and yep, a birthdate is off on the booking. Fairly certain I didn't tell Chase guy the wrong birthdate!!! Very early flight tomorrow and now we have to visit the counter instead of buzzing right through!!!! Even offered to head to the airport right now to fix and they said no. Guess I'm not sleeping tonight.  :curse:

Hey SD. Do you guys do league play in Omaha? Right now we are doing league and 2 tournaments a month. I actually like league as its a little more laid back, but we are starting to get to the point where all the decent teams have left league play so we just kick the living crap out of everyone. They were talking about it last night as we were watching the other team kick the ball all over the place and walk almost everyone. Lil SF had 3 great at bats and was on base all three times so that was awesome, but other than that it kind of sucks. I guess this is a normal occurrence here around 10-11 years old and good teams just play tournaments every weekend.  :sdeek:

I think we can dismiss as a myth the idea that Tang builds a special bond with his players. Maybe Tomlin,  but Linton crap on that.

Uncontrolled NIL destroyed the idea of school or coach loyalty when dealing with 18 year old kids.

We are still probably better off with Tang.  From the guy I know that has interacted with Tang a few times, Tang has a personality that makes you feel like you both already know each other and is very likable.  Same guy told me Reem is even more so like that.  Those are great attributes if we have to sell our team to a new 7 or 8 kids annually.  Especially if Tang's new contract has a significant NIL component.

This is probably true, I've interacted with Reem twice with my kid and it was the same thing both times. He went above and beyond. Like from just saying, "hey coach Reem" to him immediately running over like he knew us and talking to my kid for a few minutes. Seems like a legit nice dude and that has to resonate with players. Money usually trumps that unfortunately.

Clark has to be loving this and this goes with the theory that they never wanted the tax plan to pass. Within like 2 days KS reps considered buying him a whole new stadium. There is plenty of time for MO to come back with a better offer or KS to get something done. Both legislations have begun the immense boot licking process in full and will continue to do so until Clark is satisfied and picks a winner. Its all so stupid.

I have gained and lost weight many times in my life. Most of my 40’s I was very fit, but last few years after Covid I gained a ton. Using the GLP-1 helps me be happier while I lose the weight. I started trying to get back in shape in January and work out nearly every day, but using the glp1 drug allows me to reduce the agonizing struggle of hoarding and splurging on caloric “points” each day.

Having tried a glp1 drug, I am CONVINCED it’s the best way to live for me. I hope I have access to it, and the fund to afford it for the rest of my life.

Yep, this is the way to do it Pete. The issue is, many people will just take it not do anything else. It will still help them so that rules, but being active/exercising is still the best drug on the planet. You are going to be an elite specimen doing both, but i'm still not convinced your wiener isn't going to fall off in 10 years.

10
if i ever get a ManCave the first order of business is getting a trackman and having my own personal virtual driving range (or hopefully by the time i can make that a reality it will be a common thing where you can just load up whatever course you want and play a round of virtual golf)

yeah, I want this too. I've thought about putting a "nice" shed type thing in my back yard for this. It would be great to have for the winter for sure.

11
Well, good news, because apparently you can both keep the wiener and lose the weight

I assume they have a finite window to use them because they either arent safe for continuous useage or the drug companies know they will lose efficacy in prolonged settings or both.

Yeah, this seems ripe for the potential, "we made 600 billion dollars, but got fined 2 billion dollars, because a bunch of wieners fell off after taking it for 10 years straight."
Oopsie, we totally won't do it again with the next drug that comes out.

13
Can you take it indefinitely? If not I don't see how it works long term.

The folks I know on one of these has been told by their doc that you can't get off it other wise the weight will all come back.

I don't know for sure, but I think that is probably not complete info, at best.  I imagine it's like any diet where the weight comes back unless you make lifestyle changes.

This is interesting. I just assumed barring a medical issue causing you to be overweight, you could take this and stop after a period. The drug companies obviously don't want you to do that at all though. If this works like people say and you can also exercise and eat better while taking, you are probably golden. Again, its really the person's self control barring a med issue. Like, plastic surgery also works awesome, but if you don't eat better and exercise after, its all coming back.

Sister gave me and the wife a club fitting for xmas as a means to getting me back on the course after hip and shoulder replacement in the last 5 years.

Hit the range after just swinging clubs in the yard. Fitting was today and went better than I expected. It was a cool process.

Nice, that's a great gift. I would like to do it someday but need to get a functional swing down first. Most of the guys i've played with have done it and its really added distance for them.

15
No judgment as I'm down 25 lbs and am still firmly in dad bod land, but it's crazy how humans basically struggled throughout our history to source adequate food and now even poor people have trouble staying thin.

Yeah, this is the crux of the issue. Humans are lazy as eff now and it will only get worse. As SD says, this will prob help "cure" a lot of diseases related to being a fatass which will be awesome. There will still be issues though. You still need to exercise so just taking a shot won't fix everything. This drug will still be a game changer..... until they find out it makes your wiener fall off when taken for 10 years consecutively.

Went to Cancun for a short little vacation from Friday-Monday.  I love all-inclusives.  Just feed me good not great food and alcohol and let me lay by the pool.

It was doubly nice because we won the vacation in a raffle. Can you believe it?

I am a few days from from the same in Turks and Caicos. I haven't been off much since November and I can't wait to eat, drink, sit, and stare at the ocean for 6 days. I would like it even more if I won it in a raffle, but whatevs.

Also, attention SD. Is there anything better than the "scan lineup" feature in Gamechanger? My favorite thing is going up to the other team and they hand me a paper lineup. I'm like, i'm about to blow your rough ridin' mind pal.

almost every tournament in our area was either rained out or cancelled because of the tornadoes. the exception was ours because it was in Lincoln which was slightly less impacted by the tornadoes and the fields we played on were turf so we got them in despite the rain. got second place losing 8-5 in the final. lil sd went 3-3 in the championship and threw out two little dumbasses trying to steal 3rd on him. the pitcher we faced went the full 6 innings and didn't walk a single batter. we out hit them but couldn't get kids home. fun game though. beat the living crap out of both teams we got in pool play. only gave up 2 hits (1 each game).

Nice, we haven't got it going yet. Lost both rain delayed pool games, then won our first bracket game. Had a lead going into the 4th against the one seed and we fell apart. got a nice LOL after the first inning when we put up 4 against the 1st seed. Baseball coach guy made an amazing appearance. "I've scouted the hills around here and I've got a couple in mind for you all to run after this game if you don't get it together"!!!

Can't string anything together yet, but getting better. You can tell which teams play more year which we don't. Should be good to go soon though as kids are getting more at bats and more comfortable. LIL SF was a complete disaster the first couple of games. Coach had him in the cage before the last game and adjusted his feet a bit and it completely changed his swing back to not being awful. First at bat ripped one, but right to the shortstop. Little crap drives me nuts. He's either on or looks like he's never played baseball before. No in between.

I was at the baseball fields Saturday from 2-9 and got a game and a half in. I was back at the fields from Sunday 8:30am to 6:30. We won 1 game all weekend and Lil SF didn't get it going until the last game on Sunday. How was your weekend?  :sdeek:
