Actually he is probably a 2019 kid but lil Jank is going to get the ball rolling here.

Any other Jank chatter? I'm hearing that despite what you may have heard, Evan Beucler does not hold grudges and the Highland Park pipeline is still open.

Love is gone.  He won't recover.  One guaRd will get canned, probably a slow one.  Khadim Sy was offered, but it looks like he has problems.  His video is impressive.  I heard Williams might be a walk on like Magoon

Ben Boyle said Patrick had an ankle injury but I heard no mention of McGuirl.

I hope we don't oscar Patrick -  I like a shooter with at least a little size and there is not much of that on the roster outside of Wade and Sneed

Sallah has already graduated.  I seriously doubt he is back next year even though he has a year of eligibility left.

So will a 2nd player leave and give us another scholarship to use.

I am very pro players on our team but do not disagree with your three.  (All three have a little time to redeem themselves, but not much time.  IE, Patrick could have done it last night by making two of the threes he took.)

Ok, so we already have one guy coming next year and we don't have a schollie for him.

Now, we offered another guy for next year.

So, we need 2 peeps to leave? Sallah and Patrick.......

The most excited thing about a oscar Weber coached team, finding out each year who will be Bruced!

As someone who usually has only followed KStates recruitment is "getting Bruced" an uncommon thing? Or does it happen a lot across D1 basketball?

I know I have had more than one season when I wasn't keyed in where I was pumped to watch a fan favorite player improve and they were just gone. RIP Downtown Freddy Brown.

So saying someone is going to get "Bruced" is a tad overdramatic and proves an anti Weber bias?  Got it.  To be clear I have often contemplated KState seeking a new coach when we lost head scratchers, he yelled "BARRY!" more than 30 times in a game, and watching him be farther on the court then some of the players. But, I don't actively cheer against him.
Title: Re: 2018 Recruiting Thread
Post by: kso_FAN on February 23, 2018, 03:29:06 PM
Bruced is also just a carryover from Franked. Both coaches have had plenty of moments of bringing in players and sending them packing after they couldn't cut it at this level. It's common across college basketball.

Wacky I am glad you are having fun with all of this.  I like the new Springtime with Oscar.  It beats the annual fire Weber stampede and the exhilarating news about Camp Weber.  Can you list the kids we are pursuing.  I don't pay for the guru grunt from places like KSO.  Moyer, Tarke, Smith, ?????
I think Patrick is gone eventually.

Bullnuts is on the open market and being pursued by Memphis
Weber has an in home visit with Tarke.  I am still trying to see what several B12 teams are excited about.

A few people (not on this board) overreacting to us not being able to land Smith. There are several schools after each of the 3 Transfers. I'd love to land one transfer to go with winning the recruiting battle on Trice.  It will be a little disappointing if we don't get Tarke or Moyer...but 12 months ago, we probably don't have much of a shot at any of the 3 with an open scholarship

This has moved to my top pick with our remaining scholarships. I hope oscar's buddy Kevin can help us out with this one.

Against kenpom Top 50 he played 75% minutes, 1.15 orating, 41% from 3 on 6.8 attempts per game.

i hope his stats aren't skewed by playing for such a shitty team that most of his minutes the game was basically already decided.

I'd rather have that than below average for a bad team (Smith), average for a decent team (Moyer), or decent but not efficient for a bad small school (Tarke).

Yeah, I like him better than Moyer or Tarke as well.

High volume 3pt shooter. 75% of his shots in ACC were behind the arc, but making over 40% vs ACC and over 40% vs Top 50 competition is very appealing

Lots of good things on the recruiting front right now.  Moyer to be in this week end for a visit.  Either Stewart or Tarke would be great transfers to pick up.

We won't win all of these battles and maybe even lose all of them but it is great to be in competition for guys like this that are not 5 star talent but players who will be here for more than one year and all have great potential.

And if we strike out on these transferrs there is still a lot of good targets for the fall signing period that the staff is working on.  Weber has Frazier, Lowrey and Korn and all have some experience now and seem to connect well with recruits.

From Pittsburgh Post Gazette online:
"The status of Stewart was up in the air since Stallings was dismissed March 8, but he attended Capel’s first news conference last Wednesday along with the rest of the team. His father, Anthony, who’s the head coach at Division I Tennessee-Martin, released a vague statement the next day essentially reiterating that his son was still on the fence."

Apparently Anthony dad coach under Lowery at SIU.

Pretty sure I read somewhere on GE that we weren't interested in transfers anymore to the point we weren't even in communication with a lot of the guys we were previously pursuing. Something about leaving a scholly open for an early graduate? - If we are still actively pursuing Stewart does that mean we are low key pursuing other options if Stewart chooses UT-Martin?

That article singled out Tarke and some other dude as not getting much interest.  I would imagine Stewart is still a high priority, particularly if he has us in his final two.

The #86 (I think) player in the 2019 class was mentioned as potentially being a December 2018 addition and said we agreed to hold a scholly open for him.

His dad was on Lowery's coaching staff at SIU.  Looks like he's ours if we can find an open scholarship.

How in the hell did you determine that? He's pretty clearly still trying to decide if he'd rather play for his dad or someone else. If he was "ours" he wouldn't have named a final two.

The pot roast is done!!
Williams is coming June 2 as reported by 24/7 Reports.  Kid must have talent as the article said, "That being said, though, it was no guarantee he would have stayed with K-State, as North Carolina, South Carolina and others were working to get him to back off of his pledge to K-State this fall, according to Williams. Now there's no concern over having other schools chase his talent."

Thanks for the update on Williams.  Now we see how we do on McCullars.  If we do not get him, we'll have four open scholarships for 2019 instead of three and probably one or two more open up due to transfers.  2019 recruiting class will a big key in sustaining where we are now.

Highest ranked one I believe.  I would.put Wade and Brown as his two best.  Foster was a good recruit, predope version.   I consider his job of Keeping Frank's players on board was kind of like recruiting.  McCullar would.be a very good signing.

I think Weber is hedging his bets on McCullar.  I watched tapes of Price-Noel.  He can handle the ball, drive, shoot 3, and nifty passing.  Watch his Utube against Memphis.   Looks like he would be a good fit - a Westicle DeJawRo cross.

McCullar wants teams to hold an 18 scholly, is only now narrowing a top 5, and is visiting us first.  We're a longshot and at risk to burn a scholarship  while our program is at a peak.  This staff better have some backup plans.

I just read on Vurbel Commits Noel Price committed to Pacific over the Cats.  Wow, got Oscarered before he was a Oscarvite.  What does this mean?  Is the mean McCullar is going to be a Oscarvisky.

We also just put out an offer to a 4 star 2018 point guard that had committed to Northwestern but was not admitted for some reason.  Just became available but lots of offers from big name schools already.  Jordan Lathan of Grandview MO.
Lots of recruiting activity and I don't think you can count on any of it to pan out exactly but the end result may be good.  We'll just have to wait and see.

If he didn’t get in to the Harvard of the Plains it might be understandable. But some rando directional school? Really makes you think.

McCullar is scheduled to be here on June 10.  His first visit.  We do pretty good when we are first.

Any news on Kevin McCullar?  He was supposed to visit today.  He is who I am hoping to get with the last scholarship.

So what's going on with McCullar recruiting?  I am about to bust a gut waiting for good news.

Everything he is retweeting is Tech, which is where his father played football. :(

I really hope we get him, though. He would be a great addition.

McCullar wait.
Like waiting for the laxative to kick in after being constipated for weeks.
You are anxious for action and the bliss of relief,  but you know it end as a stinking pile of crap.
I am tired of being on the final list of top recruits and losing out.  Like the fat kid who is a good friend to all of the good looking GALS.
Then the excuses. ..... Daddys school, mommy's alma mater.  Self gets who he wants.  Cud Martin gets who he wants.  Marshall gets who he wants.
Weber ..... 1 and 2 star projects.

McCullar picked Tech.  Good to see oscar capitalize on the elite eight momentum.

Another laxative moment.
From the Red Rectums website:
"This is a really exciting get for the Red Raiders and Coach Beard as this is the second four-star prospect he’s gotten this year. Along with Khavon Moore and Kyler Edwards, these three make a very impressive young core that can grow together."

Our.2018 class has to be the worst in Big 12.  Williams in time will be.good.  We still have a.hole to fill, but.with what?

Well that sucked, though I can't say that I am surprised... it would have been like Tyler Lockett picking another school.  Sadly, we threw all of chips in that basketball and got burnt.

At this point, it seems likely that a walk-on will get a scholarship for next year as I doubt any serious talent is left (high school, juco or transfer).  Hopefully Weber and co. can make a great run and capitalize on the recruiting trail... we will have at least four scholarships and at least three key players leaving.

Remember when our coaches stopped recruiting Roach in lieu of The Flush even though Roach was ranked higher? That was crazy.

Yes, as my post states they will save it for a 2019 recruit (hence the four scholarships comment), however, the scholarship for 2018 is open unless they find a late recruit. If they do not Inciuld see a walk-in getting a bone for one year.

Is he ranked higher than a 2 star?  Is he blind?  Does he have fragile feet?  Does Missouri not want him?  No, yes, yes, no .... good shot at him.

Give the last scholarship to Paddy McGoon.
