Here's what I have so far:

South Alabama -14  :Yuck:
Cal +17  :bang:
Arizona -2.5  :gocho:
UAB +22.5  :bang:
LSU +3.5  :gocho:
Utah +1.5  :gocho:
KState -10  :billdance:
Ohio St -13.5  :bang:
Kentucky +14  :Yuck:
BC -12  :bang:

I like Auburn this weekend at anything under 21. I just don't make a habit of betting on them because it's difficult to be objective. I also like OK St, but I want to wait and see what this line is going to do first. Might add it Saturday morning.

Lots of juicing this week.

Have these locked in so far:

Auburn -18
Kentucky +14.5
Central Mich -5
Pitt -4
Maryland +11
UNLV +17
Bama -17
Wazzu +3
K-State -10
Hawaii +3.5

Good luck!

Really like this card. Bama is interesting. The line seems off about 7 points. I know UT, even at night, doesn't carry a 7 point home field advantage. Plus, I have no idea how they will score. But I don't know why Bama is only -17. What are your thoughts, BP?

Kansas State Football / Re: Selection Committee Rankings
« on: October 21, 2014, 04:02:42 PM »
Does the committee actually sit down together like the NCAA tournament committee or do they just mail in ballots?

The way I understand it is they all meet once a week and discuss teams. That's why Archie isn't participating this year because he won't be able to travel. This is the process:

It’s a five-step process: (1) Each committee member will list their top 25 teams, in no particular order. Teams listed by three or more members will remain under consideration; (2) each member will list their top six teams, in no particular order. The six teams receiving the most votes will comprise the pool for the first seeding ballot; (3) In the first seeding ballot, each member will rank those six teams -- one through six. Three teams receiving the fewest points will become the top three seeds. The three teams not seeded will be held over for the next seeding ballot; (4) each member will list the six best remaining teams, in no particular order. The three teams receiving the most votes will be added to the three teams held over to comprise the next seeding ballot; (5) Steps No. 3 and 4 will be repeated until 25 teams have been seeded. All votes will be by secret ballot.

I don't believe the SEC will have as strong a presence in the committee top 25 as the currently do in the media polls because they have more current info to base their decisions and won't be jaded by preseason predictions.

If I did not have family obligations requiring me to be fiscally responsible, I would be fading the crap out of you guys.

Maybe it's fiscally irresponsible to not fade the crap out of you guys?

dobber to mrsdobber: There are these guys at goEMAW.com that have created algorithms and stuff. Anyway, these guys pick football games based on what their algorithms tell them to do. They post the predictions on goEMAW.com. Since they win on about 80% of all of the games, I am just going to bet $1,000 per game based on what they think the outcome of the game will be. Okay? Great!

You're more than welcome to fade my picks. I earned this name fair and square.

Okie lite -4 1/2?!?!  :nono:

There's a reason that the books are baiting people into taking WVU... It's not like the 'eers have been a juggernaut on the road and they are coming off a HUGE home upset.  I'm just gonna hang back and watch this one as I believe WVU is the better team, but in a horrible spot situationally.

And I don't think Okie St is as bad as they looked Saturday. The public will see WVU's big win coupled with Ok St's bad loss and say this line is a no brainer for WVU. Big fan of the Cowboys in this spot.

Looking like this is it for me this week:

Houston -7.5 :)
Marshall -22.5 :)
WVU +7.5 :)
UGA -3.5 :)
BC +6 :)
KState +8.5 :)
KState ML (small play)  :gocho:
Tennessee +17  :bang:
LSU -10  :)
Cal +7.5 :)

Should've backed off Tennessee when I saw BP had it as a major play. Oh well. Still a stellar day!

Worried about that Wazzu play. The public is pounding them. Line down to +15.5.

Cuse might lose by 100

12:00 kick on the road the week before FSU's biggest game of the season. Looks like an excellent spot for a lackluster performance by a team who has struggled to put anyone away all season long. FSU fans seriously underestimated how much losing Jeremy Pruitt was going to impact their defense. That unit hasn't been nearly as strong this season, and the offense is really inconsistent.

Looks like the perfect trap cover game. But you're probably right, and Cuse will get freight trained in the dome.

1) Don't let Winters troll you.

2) All your points; very valid.

3) The best algo predictos I've seen have this as a 9-18 point game w the average sitting at 14.

4) All combined... good play on Cuse.

I been duped. Nice grab on that Mizzou line. They probably go back up on the board as a 1-2 point favorite.

You guys like these?

FIU +12.5
Louisville +10
BYU +3.5
Air Force +7.5
Notre Dame -16.5
Temple -16.5
Syracuse +23.5

i also like Mississippi +3.5 but A&M needs a win at home and Ole Miss is bound to crap the bed sooner or later. Should be an entertaining game, bookie pimp'ing aside

I take it this is what snowbrag is kicking out?  I love taking dogs, especially at home.  With that said, I'm of the belief that huge "upsets" as the media sees them will settle down now that we are getting a better feel for the teams.

As for the Ole Miss game, I can't imagine that they're gonna be able to bring the same intensity they had vs Bama last week and were likely hungover until Monday eve.  Plus, aggy should be in a 'bounce back' spot after getting train run on 'em by MSU.  Likely a no play for me, but I lean hard to the boys from collie station.

I went back and watched the MSU/aTm last night because I didn't get to see much of it Saturday while setting up our tailgate. Aggy didn't play that terribly in the first half, and State built on some momentum from turnovers. If aTm catches half the balls they dropped, the game never gets out of hand in the first half and probably doesn't become a blowout in the second half. I look for them to play much better at home this week. I have no idea how OM is going to get passed that historic game. I could see aggy running away with this game late mainly because OM won't have the emotional energy to put forth late.

Would not touch LSU @ Auburn now. Couldn't get it at +9.5 before it was taken off the board. Now, at 7, I don't like it at all.

Card so far:

Tennessee -2 (BIG) It's my biggest play of the year so far. Two teams going in opposite directions.
Bama -5: Just don't think OM is on the same level as Bama. Should be interesting to see how Bama's O matches up with OM's D
aTm o 67
UNC +2
Marshall -17
Memphis +4
Ga Tech +3 -125

Bookie told me to post my picks for you to fade. Here they are:

Kansas State +9.5
UNC +2
Colorado -7
Rutgers +6
Florida +14.5
Mississippi State +10
aTm -32.5

Not a bad weekend. I'll take 5-2 all season. Looks like others here had good weekends as well.

All this good sportsmanship makes me sick...

I try to be reasonable and rational. Unfortunately, some of my fellow Auburn message board friends who also came here don't share that same mindset.

Fade, you're a good person so I know there wasn't any condescension in that post. Thank you and I really hope there's a chance in hell that both teams somehow make it to the playoffs.

Man, I'd love nothing more than playing this game again in the playoffs. I don't think either team played their best game. I hate seeing a kicker struggle (unless it's Bama's kicker), and I hate worse that Lockett dropped that pass. But I hate worst of all that we didn't give you guys our best. Great competition brings out the best in the other side. If both teams play to their potential, this game would still be close. I never thought this would be a blowout, although I did believe both teams would score more because I thought the strengths of each were on offense. The defense on both sides, for the most part, was great to see.

These two teams are better than what we saw last night, and I truly believe you have the defense to win the BIG XII. Smart, disciplined, and headhunters in several spots. Waters is more than capable of leading this offense to crazy good offensive numbers. And Lockett is super dangerous on special teams.

Satire aside, this board has some really good posters on here and some really good football minds. I wish I could've made it to Manhattan to tailgate and meet some of you.  Maybe we'll meet up in January somewhere, possibly NOLA.

I was very impressed with the defense. I knew they would be sound and disciplined. I was very impressed with the athleticism. McDaniel and Evans are bad men. Meuller was a beast as well.

Neither team was very consistent offensively, and I attribute a lot of that to good defensive play. KState missed on some opportunities, but I know, if you're defense continues to play like this all season, EMAW will be very successful. You have some solid WR options outside of Lockett in Sexton and Burton, and I think Waters is a good QB. And having Snyder on the sidelines is always going to be an advantage.

Enjoyed the game and the banter all week. I look forward to keeping up with the rest of your season. Good luck this season, and win the BIG XII!

Kansas State Football / Re: Jermaine Whitehead out vs. KSU

Any word on how the Arby's () fans feel about losing this guy ?

Fairly significant loss. Filling the position with another capable player won't be as much an issue as not having his experience and leadership on the field. Holsey will likely fill his spot. Holsey was a starting safety last year before tearing his ACL about halfway thru the season. Ford and Moncrief are more than capable athleticly. Just not sure they can be leaders/directors in their first road games in that position.

It's crazy how many were saying before the season started how they didn't think Whitehead should start, and now they're raising hell about him not being there. Definitely going to hurt not having him on the field, but I'm more concerned about how our DL and LBs handle the run game, especially the QB designed run, than I am the passing attack. Most Auburn fans had conceded Waters and Lockett would have success through the air.

20
Who said this?  And, why didn't he get on the bus?  Late? Disciplinary?

 :Wha:

no linky, but rivals is reporting it as fact with no reason

The AU twitterverse is pretty touchy about it... must be fact.

A poster on the bunker said Whitehead had an argument with the coaches and then missed the bus today on his own.

21
Who said this?  And, why didn't he get on the bus?  Late? Disciplinary?

 :Wha:

No reason given. I would think disciplinary because if it was something like an illness that probably would've been communicated. No idea what he could've done. He's not one the coaches would expect to get into trouble. He's always been a smart kid and level-headed.

22
Jermaine Whitehead is not traveling to Kansas.

?
bunker =MODS= posted it

interesting. guess we'll have to wait and see.

They said he didn't get on the bus to the airport. Also said Moncreif had his left hand and wrist wraped up, but he's been playing in a cast since the season started.

23
talked to my source again and confirmed we are going to win

Well my source says you're wrong because reasons.

Bookie, do you use KellyInVegas for some of your NCAA Foots knowledge? I know she's a big Wildcat fan and trying to make it as a capper.

I don't think we can be friends anymore, FadeMe...  That was just rude and uncalled for.   :shakesfist:

With that said, I've likely forgotten more about the game of football and the art/science of handicapping than she'll ever know.  If you aren't blocked by her on twitter yet, then you aren't a real member of the goEMAW blog.   :gocho:

I don't think our long running thread about her helps though either:  http://goEMAW.com/forum/index.php?topic=28326.0

  :billdance:

I've never followed her. I occasionally read her write-ups to get a good laugh. She is the dumbest "capper" I've ever read anything from! It's almost sad.

Be right back. Gotta read that thread.
