Also, BITB has been saying he likes this hire all day. He likes him as a person and his chances of being successful at Mizzou.

BITB
Definitely! He also said: "Listen Mizzou fans, I'm seeing the negative feedback out there from KU fans. IGNORE IT! They wish they had what you have in football and you wouldn't change that in a million years for what they have in basketball. YOU ARE WINNING THIS!"

BITB is fantastic . . . because he's trying to faux placate the fans of an SEC school who just went down the Interstate to hire the local DII head basketball coach.

Now Anderson may turn out great, but for any MethU fan who rolled with the SEC/SEC/SEC shtick this situation has to be embarrassing.

It took them about 18 months to completely turn their backs on basketball.

If Nebraska keeps getting better in basketball will they turn their backs on football  :sdeek:

Its worse than if we hired Steve Henson, when Frank left, after being told no by clearly everyone else we could call for two weeks.

I don't think they got told no by as many people as you think. The price they were willing to pay a coach kinda limited who they were going to get. Hearing that they were going to be in the neighborhood of $1.5 mil, it seemed obvious that their targets were Anderson, Mike White, and an assistant somewhere. They didn't contact Gregg Marshall and I wonder if they didn't contact Ben Howland either. They really should have ended up with Howland.

http://m.kwch.com/sports/marshall-says-he-didnt-give-much-thought-to-leaving-wsu/25702332

It was pretty common knowledge that they weren't going to pay a coach $2 million and it's equally well known that Marshall isn't leaving WSU for less than $2.7, minimum, so I have to wonder how serious and lengthy the conversation went. They must have talked over the weekend because as of Friday Gary Parrish, obvs a better source than Jenn Bates, said that Mizzou didn't contact Marshall or his attorney. I'm guessing it was a last hail mary before settling on Anderson. Non old ballz Mizzou fans must be seeking answers as to why they couldn't make it work with Howland.

I was surprised how candid Marshall was about the meeting and the possibility of leaving WSU.

I like Marshall. I don't like Mizzou. Glad he didn't seriously entertain going to Columbia.

Speculation is that he's waiting for either Michigan State, Florida, Indiana, Louisville, UNC, or Kentucky; all of which could potentially be open as soon as next week or as late as 5 years from now.

I like Marshall. I don't like Mizzou. Glad he didn't seriously entertain going to Columbia.

:sdeek: there are hardcore WSU fans that don't like 2Gs; good coach, known assface

i honestly haven't watched WSU much outside of a few times this past couple of seasons...  what is marshall doing that has him seeing so much success?  common denominator of just having better players?

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Guys could it be said that Fort Hayes State plays at a higher level of basketball than the school that this Kim guy came from?

I feel sorry for my co-worker Mizzou guy.  He actually didn't go to MIZ and I went to school with his KSU wife.  So, he's not obnoxious.

But man, he took the Kim Anderson news hard.  As he should.

They are going to be super conflicted whenever Titletown comes up in convo.  But, hey, as long as they boo well, who am I to judge?
