It's labor day here in Spain, quite a bit more celebrated than the American equivalent. Pretty interesting.

DO NOT GET RADICALIZED!

The summer of Pete!

I'm going to ride it to the American Legion for bingo night and/or a meat raffle (with other free Americans).

Wait, he got a 40yd dumpster for that shed?
I did this once as a hint to mrs8 to change her hoarding ways.  Backfired spectacularly.

I'm guilty of this as well.

Update on my ATV quest: I am THIS close to pulling the trigger on a pair of older Yamaha 700 Grizzly's from an older couple in MN.  If someone doesn't swoop in front of me before tomorrow evening, those rascals are mine.

Now, when the county law switches over in a couple weeks to allow ATV's on the roads, I'll be cruising around like a free American.

It's been over a month since drinking booze of any kind and to be honest it is pretty awesome.  Changed up my diet as well and have dropped almost 30 lbs already.  Not saying I'm never going to have a drink again, but at this point I don't see why I would.  It is amazing to me how much more clear my head is on a daily basis not having to clear the fog from the night before.
I haven’t had a drink in 9 years, and I still don’t claim to have quit drinking “forever,” instead I am just not drinking today. I get that it sounds corny or even disingenuous, but that’s really how I try to approach it.

I’m pretty out-of-the-closet about not drinking, and I label myself a recovering alcoholic. Everyone at work knows, and I even tell my clients if I am at a dinner and they ask me if I want a drink. Society today is much more accepting of good mental health practices, thankfully. For me, being “out” about it actually makes it way easier to not drink because no one ever asks me to drink anymore or ever attempts to put any pressure on me….and my friends/family would not be cool with me drinking.  I also do not spend anytime at drinking events unless I have good reason to be there (hear a band, support a friend for their celebration, watch a game.”)…no “hanging out” while others around me get loaded.

The not-drinking is great for my health, but I had (and still have) a lot of work to do to live my life in a way where I don’t feel the need to drink…be more even keel, accept what I can’t change, make amends quickly whenever I am at fault, etc.  For 20+ years (age 18 - 40) I was a functioning alcoholic and didn’t mature emotionally like a non-drinker…I skipped leg day on my emotions for 20 years. It takes me time to learn those life lessons and practice new behaviors.

Yeah, it’s probably not smart to bet against the American appetite until glp1 drugs go generic.

I only buy index funds, but if I had the money to take big bets, I’d bet this trend continues and I’d be shorting brands like this (assuming they have upticks against which to enter into a short!).

I have gained and lost weight many times in my life. Most of my 40’s I was very fit, but last few years after Covid I gained a ton. Using the GLP-1 helps me be happier while I lose the weight. I started trying to get back in shape in January and work out nearly every day, but using the glp1 drug allows me to reduce the agonizing struggle of hoarding and splurging on caloric “points” each day.

Having tried a glp1 drug, I am CONVINCED it’s the best way to live for me. I hope I have access to it, and the fund to afford it for the rest of my life.

Coke needs to come up with their own version of the drug and just put it in coke. Same for Yum Brands, McD’s, etc.

It is truly transformative, and the impact to fast food and junk food will be immense. When I am on it, I have no craving for food.  If you offer me something good to eat, I'll eat it and enjoy it, but I won't want more than a few ounces. I was viewing food more as fuel, and would just as soon pound a couple premier protein shakes as bother to eat a "meal."

I may need to take Kim Carnes advice and revise my retirement date due to the chance of living too long.  Which kinda sucks because I was getting into the idea of retire at 62 take social security to get health care and die at maybe 80 at the latest.

If the Frito Lays family is reading this blog, you may want to diversify.

Analysts say the weekly injection could post more than a billion dollars in sales in its first year on the market and potentially become the biggest drug of all time.

So, I tried a month of zepbound (my insurance covered it, luckily) and it’s a rough ridin' miracle drug (assume no future ass cancer etc). It’s out of stock everywhere tho and can’t reliably get more. They give you four shot thingys at a time (4 weeks worth).

Best way to describe its effect is that it makes me feel like I have just eaten a meal that was not too filling and am perfectly satisfied, like all the time. It tapers off by the end of a week, hence the weekly injection

my grandpa used to have a giant tank of roundup on his 3 wheeler and one in a pickup and on days when there "wasn't as much to do" he drove around and round upp'd all his fence lines to keep cedar out!

But they made good fence posts when there were no trees anywhere
I ask this with all due respect and seriousness…did he die of cancer? Lot of those guys who were exposed to Roundup 24/7/365 have.
Pretty sure it's Parkinson's not cancer....or both. My aunt and uncle who are full time farmers  have Parkinson's.

They also had a giant tank of Roundup on the back of a three wheeler.

That's awful, sorry man.

Boulder football facilities for fans are the worst I have ever seen at the BCS level, as of last summer. BUT, players don’t see that…they see weight rooms and crap, so who knows.

The bigger challenge for Coach Prime appears to be building a culture with nothing but transfers. It will happen in time, I would bet. But some growing pains are to be expected.

I think the only way to even remotely "fix" this is to limit it on the school side...limit how many transfers a school can take in a give year.  A "demand" reduction.

I've been bloviating against woody encroachment for years, but everyone thought I was insane. Well, look at me now.
Give me an air conditioned enclosed cab high flow skid steer with a forestry muncher and turn me loose.

Cedars don’t regenerate from the roots.

Testosterone and HGH therapy is a game changer folks.  Started about four weeks ago and made a few diet tweaks......so far at 27 lbs gone and my energy throughout the day is steadliy improving.
what was your level before starting

It was sub 200.  I think around 170 if I remember correctly.
Is it the type of stuff that can boost your muscle growth in work outs and make a fellas look better naked? If so, I may be interested

I mean, name one politician you could trust with that power?

There is no human that can go through what is needed to go through to be president that wouldn't abuse the crap out of that power.

Something like 20-30 companies would effectively hold that same power immediately upon the ruling being made.  Is this not setting up the king for a day scenario, but forever instead of a day?

I didn't listen to the argument and don't know what the specific case issues are, but it seems to me like SCOTUS could easily avoid almost all the legal questions involved by just saying there is no way you can consider a president's conspiracy to undermine his own elected ouster to be an "official act" of a president. That is, quite possibly, the most ridiculous thing I could imagine any U.S. court ruling--much less the Supreme Court.

Trump's position is premised on the argument that he should only be subject to criminal prosecution if he is impeached and convicted by the senate, but if undermining the political process itself is part of the immunity then that qualification is meaningless in the hands of a tyrant, who could simply threaten/coerce/assassinate any who would seek to carry out impeachment proceedings. The democratic experiment would be over.

That may sound alarmist, but what I'm actually getting at here is "losing" this case only means that the Supreme Court declines to give clearer instructions as to whether immunity for criminal charges is ever an option for acts taken by a president. There's no way he gets out of facing charges for Jan. 6.

Unless Trump wins, I assume.

There's still the Georgia case.
I assume Trump’s day 1  focus is to pardon himself and friends of any and all federal crimes, and petition the SC to stop that Georgia case.
