I'm not sure I entirely believe the "Glass doesn't want to win talking point." They pay a ridiculously low team salary, but there just aren't a ton of good free agents worth paying a lot of money in a typical offseason, and the good ones always get megadeals. Sure, the bottom line is better by not paying the players competitive wages, but only a Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) would look at running a professional baseball team that way. Just look at the New York Yankees. George Steinbrenner purchased that team for $10 million in 1973. They are now worth more than $1 billion (according to Forbes). Even if Steinbrenner operates at a loss every year, it's worth it. The Royals will never gain value the way the Yankees have due to the disparity in market sizes, but winning is much more important than saving short-term money.

The AL Central is pretty meh.

After 20 games, and you're playing .263 baseball, and your only 5 games back, you gotta feel pretty good about a turnaround.

If it really is "our time" than there's no reason not to be competing in the AL Central deep into the year . . . if not, than you do really, really suck.

.529 leads the Central, the leaders of the rest of the divisions in the MLB are .632, .789, .737, .632, .684.

LOL dax. The Tigers are going to rampage this division. Just rip it to pieces. As soon as their lineup, which was amazing last year and only added PRINCE rough ridin' FIELDER, gets going it's not going to be close.

Look up the word "compete" . . . I didn't say win, but there's simply no excuse to mired in last place if it's "our time".

Outside of Detroit, the Central pretty much sucks.

Indians are very similar to the royals in that they have alot of good young players, they are about 2 years ahead of us developmentally though. White Sox are no slouches either, the only terrible team is the Twins.

I don't know if .500 is "competing" in the Division. But, even with this horrid start, I think the neighborhood of .500 baseball is attainable. And I, for one, would be pretty content with that in '12. We have the youngest team in baseball, across the board.

So they finish in 3rd place and 20 games behind Detroit that's competing? ok
