I always love these Cassidy articles.  Gifted with the pen.  Weaves a rich tapestry of wonderous prose.  A real wordsmith.

Strong intro.

"Wearing a pale blue Dodgers cap, 80s-style slatted sunglasses and a rarely seen smile, David Garrett struts through the door of an Aggieville bar. He shows off a shoulder shrug and keeps his head on a swivel, as if awaiting direction."

Bold and magical imagery.

"His braids swing recklessly under flicking party lights."  "Cornered in a bathroom by three opposing players  :ohno: ..."  "Something fit for a Wrestlemania undercard."  "He plowed his opposition past the sideline chalk before recklessly (he likes this adj.) slamming him into the weeds adjacent to the field."

Subtle but powerful conclusion.

"I guess I'll just have to have a better season than I did last year," Garrett said. "I still need to improve just like everyone else, and being doubted just makes it easier."

He tells you who David Garrett is, but leaves you wondering who David Garrett may become.

Those "explanations" of why and what film coaches show their players is hilarious.

I always loved a good breakdown on GPC.  Loved it.

there seem to be 3 schools of thought on GPC about how coaches should break down film

1.  Watch the teams best games

2.  Watch the teams worst games

3.  A combination of the both

a debate that will surely go on and on.

I like when they evaluate their hips
"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."

My personal favorite is when a Kansas recruit is being discussed, especially OL, and someone talks about their 195 pound cousin that's a DE for a 3A school, and they schooled this dude all night long.

Then the subsequent discussion on leverage and slippery skinny guys at DL goes on for at least ten posts in a thread.

I'll admit that Newman used his insane speed to make up for some sloppy coverage in college but the dude was a first rounder.  I remember thinking that Rat wasn't all that great in coverage, especially considering he was playing the hybrid spot/covering dudes that would normally be covered by LBs.  Maybe I'm just Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).

The dude won the Thorpe award was and was drafted fifth by the Cowboys.

He was a pro-bowler for God's sakes.

(Not directed at you, but at the horrendously stupid comment on GPC comparing the two.)

Someone posted that Bender had a bad game last night and they were off his bandwagon.  The tucks immediately came back with their 10 obligatory "I trust Snyder more than you...Do you feel that you know more about football than Snyder?" posts.

Honest question here: Do you feel like you know more about college football than LHC Bill Snyder, Michael Smith, Charlie Dickie, Chris Cosh, ect?

A simple yes or no will suffice. Thank you.

We need to add a "RL 150th" patch on the lapel of every player jersey and get a helmet sticker as well. I would say that there are only a handful of people who have ever attended 150 road games, let alone consecutively.

Hats off Robert.

It's absurd that anyone besides Robert ever wins "Fan of the Game."

An absolute travesty.
