He may be old in skin but he is a young man at heart! It will feel like I lost a family member when he is gone. Truly a class act and role model for all of the kids to go through his program. I can't think of too many people who have earned more respect than that man.

Twenty-five days and counting …

The pace is slowly but surely quickening.

Coach and the team are getting a bit of a break from the heat … but not the intensity.

Suzie Fritz and K-State’s volleyball team began pre-season practice this morning.

The number of customers at Call Hall is getting a bit larger as the staff cranks out breakfast and lunch specials to complement the 35 flavors of ice cream and its other dairy and meat products.

The K-State marching band reports to Dr. Tracz on next Monday to begin its 124th marching season. (Woe be to the frosh who are about to experience the KSUMB work ethic!)

On Sunday, August 21st, the pep rally for new and current students is on-tap at “The Bill.”

The Fall term begins on August 22nd.

“Purple Power Play on Poyntz” returns to Manhattan on September 1st and 2nd. The football, baseball and volleyball teams will be featured Thursday while the men’s and women’s basketball teams will be honored on Friday night.

The Varney’s K-State Invitational begins the Fall sports schedule on Friday the 2nd with our volleyball Cats facing Georgia Southern, BYU and Idaho.

The “3rd Annual Family Reunion” (together with “Harley Day”) arrives on gameday, September 3rd, with Harley Day and the “Pride of Wildcat Land” show featuring drumlines from across the state.

Gosh, I LOVE this time of year!

Remember, Wildcats ... Make K-State proud of you in all you do!

There's enough smoke at this point for our admin to start going into emergency mode.

We can survive an A&M departure if we move fast to shore up the remaining nine and snag BYU.

They would most likely suffice, but BYU would probably be the only entity in "free agency" that's realistic and can even come close to looking like a real BCS school in terms of tradition, fan base size, stadium size, national appeal, etc.

Yeah. It's fun laughing at Turner Gill's "no girls allowed" policies, but BYU takes that to a whole new level.

MU vs BYU would be a great rivalry. Missourians literally chased all the mormons out of Independence with pitchforks in the 1840's. Independence is apparently some sort of holy garden of eden to mormons.

Quote
Smith intended to establish the city of Zion (or the New Jerusalem) in North America.[11] In 1831, the church moved to Kirtland, Ohio (the eastern boundary of Zion),[12] and began establishing an outpost in Jackson County, Missouri (Zion's "center place"),[13] where he planned to eventually move the church headquarters.[14] In 1833, Missouri settlers, alarmed by the rapid influx of Mormons, expelled them from Jackson County,[15] and the church was unable to recover the land via a paramilitary expedition.[16] Nevertheless, the church flourished in Kirtland[17] as Smith published new revelations and the church built the Kirtland Temple as the site of what they viewed as a new Pentecost.[18] The Kirtland era ended in 1838, after the failure of a church-sponsored bank caused widespread defections.[19] Smith regrouped with the remaining church in Far West, Missouri,[20] but tensions soon escalated into violent conflicts with the old Missouri settlers.[21] Believing the Saints (Mormons) to be in insurrection, the Missouri governor ordered the Saints' expulsion from Missouri.[22] In 1839, the Saints converted a swampland on the banks of the Mississippi River into Nauvoo, Illinois, which became the church's new headquarters.[23]

Exactly why the Mormons would jump at a chance to be Big12'ers.  Their Eden is in our footprint(indepmo), spiral tower with jesus door at top and all.

It would be like if ND was offered a chance to confy up with Vatican City U.

Thanks a ton. I hope with my eye health improving (I had surgery in May to enlarge my eye sockets and relieve pressure), my work day will lengthen to what it was before, as will my ability to stare at a computer screen, which is rather important to this job. I also hope the coming Rivals app for smart phones will help, because holding my phone a few inches from my face with one eye shut (yep, true story) is easy on my eyes.

I really have tried not to talk about it much, but the last three years have really sucked. My eyes will never be the same, but at least they don't feel exhausted 90 percent of the time. My docs at KU Eye and KU Med have been phenomenal. Work/life productivity is already up.
