Exhibit A of White Privilege.

i don't think that narrative fits here, perhaps elsewhere during the riot (and almost certainly for the lack of preparation itself).  the cops here appeared plenty belligerent, they were just completely unprepared and outnumbered.

I'm taking into context the entire situation.  A known large protest (but not of BLM topic) invokes a 4' railing and 5 cops on what appears to be a major entrance path to the capital (that the president just told them to march to) in nothing but their normal cop clothes.

Then take that the protestors know in the back of their head nothing will happen to them so they just start pushing the fence.  Not one weapon is drawn, just some pushing of the fence back and forth between cops and protestors.

That crap doesn't happen if this isn't a MAGA / white guy rally.

i think the relevant question is whether the lack of adequate preparation was due to the person ultimately in charge of those forces being sympathetic to their intentions or if it was legitimately the case that law enforcement, without any political interference, did not perceive a threat.

yes

Either way, the person ultimately in charge needs to resign/get fired/etc.  It's always better to be overprepared and overstaffed for these things.

I also wonder how amazingly shitty is the glass they bought for the capitol?

Rush is prob in the top 3-5 reasons we are where we are right now.  This has been a long build up and he's been doing this for 30 yrs.

I definitely listened to a lot of Rush back in the day too.

I randomly heard that Pretenders song on the radio the other day and had a weird flashback and wondered how the hell they're letting him use that song

so I looked it up!

Agreed. To this video there is no way a BLM protest that cap police were unprepared for has officers that docile in that exact situation. Guns would have been drawn at minimum.

Those riotors knew they weren't going to be impeded in the least and had no fear.

All of these reasons. Perfect exhibit of white privilege.

yes

No, and we can't allow this. Trump absolutely cannot be an excuse for everything. It's ridiculous to think that the Capitol Police and DC Police coordinate their operations with Donald Trump, that's ridiculous. Whomever coordinated that was the same person who did it in June when the steps of that building had hundreds of officers in heavy armor. The bottom line is that several people failed and this can't be pinned on trump.

Y'all Qaeda had gathered in Washington several times for various functions with little to to incidents, however they didn't preform due diligence this time and it blew up in their faces.

Aside from social media they had two major indicators that should have had them better prepared. The first one was last week's vandalism on a couple of black churches in DC. Of course the black guy got arrested the second he stepped foot in DC this week. The second incident was the fact they spent Monday and Tuesday fighting with cops.

If you think that predominantly black protesters would be allowed to escalate their violence each day for a solid week, you're a fool. The decision makers failed only because they thought these white people couldn't dare do what they did. That is textbook white privilege. The fact that these people felt like they were owed something to the point they could break into the capitol, document it without fear of repercussion, and walk around break crap, and take selfies and fist bump with the cops is white privilege on steroids.

I didn't go to protests in Des Moines Iowa because I was scared I would get hurt or killed, most of those people yesterday had no such fear despite trespassing on federal property.

As I typed this I got an alert that the chief of the capitol police has rightly resigned. He'll be the Sheriff of Anne Arundel County within 6 months.

I don’t think Trump is in charge of them. Or at least assumed he wasn’t.
