Herr,  I had a different experience yesterday.  Cox has raised rates and also has tightened up their discounts.  I was getting 30% off of my internet and cable now can only get 20% off each + there was a rate hike on the retail price.  The lady I was talking to was talking over me and was going off her talking points and trying to tell me I didn't know anything about the telecom industry.  As I was trying to talk over her and ask to speak to her manager she cut off my cable and internet and then transferred me to her manager.

Then I got the retention specialist angle and got the same deal offered before but by then I actually got to find out there was not a different or better offer.

Wow.  That sounds like bad customer service.

With U-Verse it's pretty simple: wait until the last day of your 1 year agreement and then call in and ask to speak to someone in the cancellation department. That department has their own retention specialists who can offer the best deal. I think I'm paying two dollars/month more on the second year of my service. Was really surprised that they were able to make that offer.

My one year promotional agreement was up and my bill jumped from $88 to $152 so I called and got transferred to a retention specialist. I told them my bill was to high and they asked what I had been paying, I told them it was $80ish, after a couple minutes she asked if $78 would be ok. I also got faster internet speed :gocho:

Uverse is having their free hbo, cinemax, and starz previews this month

Can you not get uverse at your place? I thought they covered most of Manhattan? When I called Cox and cancelled to switch to uverse they called me a couple days before the actual disconnect date and offered the same rate uverse was going to give me, might have to step it up a notch :dunno: worst that could happen is that you call them the day before the disconnect and tell them you want to keep the service

Moved outta MHK this weekend()    New place couldn't get Uverse...so i had to go with the local provider Eagle Communications. They were to call me yesterday so i could leave work(4 blocks away) and let them in. Never called. I call in today and they say a tech stopped by and i wasn't there. Next scheduled time is the 30th, but might be able to get me in sooner. :flush:

A Story of Connection.
Eagle Communications’ beginning was simple in 1948, based on connecting people with people through radio and television transmission. It was a foundation built on hard work, trust and integrity.

Originally known as KAYS, Inc. and based in Hays, Kansas, Eagle Communications began in the commercial television, radio broadcasting, and cable television business. In 1989, the company sold its commercial television stations, and now concentrates on radio broadcasting, cable television, Internet service, and telephone service.

Today, Eagle owns and operates 28 radio stations in Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska; and 59 cable systems in Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado.
In 1998, Eagle owner Bob Schmidt began transferring ownership of the company to 116 of his faithful employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. In 2002, the employees became majority owners of the company. Since 2012, Eagle has been 100% employee-owned. We find that this ownership motivates our employee-owners to do and be their best. And we believe that our customers deserve nothing less.

Eagle’s goal is simple: We want to connect people. We desire to provide efficient and high-quality communication services to our customers in each community through advanced technology and the customer service to back up our belief that our customers and our audience are our most important assets.

For additional information about Eagle Communications, please visit our Newsroom.

No experience per se, but based on my experience dealing with AT&T, I can tell you there's pretty much nothing I wouldn't trust them with, including my personal security.

Just got an e-mail from TWC.  They're quintupling my internet speeds at no extra charge.  Going from 20/2 to 100/10.  Thanks Google Fiber and Gigapower  :gocho:.

Austin.  Tons of competition here with broadband companies building out fiber networks.  ATT, Google, Grande and TWC are in an arms race, so to speak.  I assume this is aimed at customer retention.
