Email signatures at work
« on: June 27, 2013, 09:05:22 AM »
Wassup guys? Hope your finding some shade in this heat. Anyways, do you put much into your signature at work? Right now mine looks like this:

WC08|account executive|company
T| #|M| #
Email|company website

I exchange emails with a lot of C level people and they drop their MBA in their or whatever grad degree they have. Should I do this as well even though I got it from a fake school? Also, what does your sig look like?

Including an email address in an email signature always struck me as funny.

My sig looks pretty much like yours does, Wacky.  I also have a "short and sweet" signature that is just:

SabiNation
Company
T #

I use this one when I'm contacting anybody that I assume already has my important info
"If i worked for the NY times, and my boss told me 'hey. if you keep ranking ksu so high, we may fire you' i would tell my boss to 'bring it on.'"  -FFF

Also, I think adding ", MBA" after your name is pretty douchey. Even if your MBA wasn't from a pud school. Of course, if your boss does it, go for it.

People put their college degrees in their email signature? Jfc, it isn't a resume. Industry specific certifications can be included (CEM, P.E., etc.), but I would laugh if someone put

John Doe, MBA Harvard 2010.
:adios:

you should sign off every email with "Cheers!"

it would seem really fun but also be a tongue in cheek inside joke reference to that time you nervously cheersed and shattered your bosses beer all over himself

it is kinda, but i find it very helpful because usually by the time i'm involved the chain is pretty deep and i'm not dealing with someone internal.

my favorite here is that like 75% of people here copied someone else's signature when they started, and they have a mailto: link that doesn't match their own address

I think having your email address on your signature is about as Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) as it gets.  THEY GOT A F*CKING EMAIL FROM YOU.

Maybe they got a forwarded email.

In my job, I want to make it as easy for them to get a hold of me as possible.  If they're updating your contact info, sometimes it's easier to see the address in the signature than in the "from" field.

yeah, I'm not involved in sales in any way, but that's a great tip for wacky.
