I really hate to agree with michigancat....
« on: March 27, 2010, 06:18:11 PM »
But it really hurt to not have an additional shooter in the game.  The perimeter double team on our guards left our 3 a wide open 3 each time.  Sutton wasn't about to shoot and Jam tried an early 3, missed, and decided that was enough for the night.  McGruder gave us a much better chance to score and Frank was just stubborn.  What I don't understand was what was there to lose?  I understand Gruds is a defensive liability at times, but they only had 2 guys that could score.  The run happened once Gruds was in...he only got 4 points but they were big and I think given time, he could have scored much more.  He was fresh, he was a spark, and he can shoot.

KU couldn't run their triangle and two if we had a third scorer.

We tried to get looks for a third shooter several times.  They recovered on D.

Totally irrelevent if they just get the ball to CK every possession. He shot 60%, but only got 10 shots.

Also, at least two of his misses were dumbass mid-range jumpers. Butler really had no answer for him in the paint. They seriously could have made him look like Michael Beasley tonight.

Do you think Frank would have been T up if he tried to run one of the 2 open scholarships out there??

Considering we couldn't guard them when it really mattered . . . how much does D. Fred Brown hurt us in 10 minutes of PT, and cranking up some 3's.

None the less . . . Butler is a superior basketball team, with a superior coach and big time guards.

Yeah it's tarded but too the point.

Another game when not having a 3rd real outside threat hurt us.

Frank is what he is.  He will run off the ones that don't do it his way.  We know what we got ourselves into (whether we like it or not).

Frank didn't even need to run Fred out there.  He just needed to run McGruder out there right after Dom missed his 3rd or 4th FT.  Offense really seemed to become a lot more effective with Rodney in there.

And that's my point.  Grud's is as good a shooter as F Brown, a better defender and a bigger body.  He could have been the difference tonight.  He WILL be the difference in many future KSU games...book it.

I've been wondering why Judge and McGruder didn't play more minutes all season.

Well, because Judge is really not that great, and McGrudes is a freshman defender. Sutton is better, but Rod has promise.

Wally simply has $hit for brains on the defensive end of the floor against smarter basketball players.   Today was a prime example, he was embarrassed multiple times.

yeah.  dax knows a lot of things, but what is, and what isn't, Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) isn't one of them.

The comments in this thread are so f^cking short sighted it makes me want to cry.

Put McGruds/Judge out there = white boy shooting uncontested layups and at THE VERY BEST trading baskets

With Sutton = embarrassing shooting but at least they don't score uncontested 6" from the rim

How can you forget Heyward's extremely ugly alley-oop?

Weird.  Because I saw uncontested layups even with defensive specialists Lu and Dom out there.  There was one especially nice one right towards the end of the game, when Sutton decided to set up a lawn chair at the free throw line, kick back, and sip on a daiquiri while his white boy waltzed down the lane for a wide open layup.

We need to incorporate those into our offense because they never get called.
