Why do they say "flank?"  Flank means to the side right?
All Ahead Flank.

You get to 100% reactor power as quick as possible. Your "flank" is your side but not in nautical terms.

Occasionally when I poop I call it "Launching the Brown October".
Often heard in the aft head... "Flush twice. It's a long way to the galley."

have you ever been to Challenger Deep? I know you have. how badass did you feel after when you knew you survived?
I've been to test depth multiple times. The entire hull creaks like a mofo.  :sdeek: I think the official deepest number is 800'. We aren't supposed to divulge true test depth.

can you launch other stuff out of the torpedo tubes like they launched Spock's corpse out of the Enterprise in Wrath of Khan? like just toss an apple core and some other garbage in there and blast it to the fish?
Not with the torpedo tubes. They actually have trash launchers. That was a nasty job but fun as hell to operate.  :flush:

What is there to eat? Like fresh seafood you just torpedoed for the day or that nasty ass freeze dried stuff?
Fresh veggies for the first few weeks. Then it was all frozen. You didn't eat the eggs late in patrol. You'd be  to  :flush: .

Do you ever dock in foreign ports?  Like South Africa for example?

I never went there. I was on the USS Maryland. It's an Ohio class strategic missile sub. There were limited port calls for us. In six patrols, I made three port calls - Halifax, Puerto Rico, and Cape Canaveral.

I want to return to Halifax. That was a great place.

Was it a total downer when you had to go all silent and your favorite tv show was on?

We were on different classes of boats. He was a boomer guy, while I was on a fast attack. We had different missions entirely.

I know it's a total downer when you're running silent and one of the cranks in the galley drops a pan. You have to report it to the Con because it can be heard by Sonar.

What if you are in the gym pumping iron and you have to turn off "Welcome to the Jungle"?

Several patrols, my boat was smoke-free.  The captain had recently got married to a new trophy wife.  He announced over the 1mc on the way down the channel that she wanted him to quite smoking...so, therefore, the boat was quitting smoking.  I thought we might have a real mutiny.

Late in patrol we surfaced and did a swim call.  The die-hard smokers jumped into the ocean with their cigs in a zip lock bag.  Then, they tried to tread water and light up since ithey weren't "on" the boat anymore.

But, other questions.  The XO's job is to be a dick.  The CO gets to be the good guy.

All ahead flank, cavitate.
Helm, all stop.  Maneuvering, Conn, stop the shaft.
Stop the shaft, maneuvering, aye.
There are 10 types of people in this world.  Those who understand binary and those who don't.

JFC, gE could start its own sub command squad and take over some small put country with all the sub studs (trademark) we have on here.

Hey SubStudsTM ,
On a scale of 1-10, rate me on how awesome or pud you think I would be on sub.
TIA:

already have a ranking system in place. would be 0 mutinies. guaranteed.

as private fanning once said "absolutely zero consequences."

treading water in 30 foot waves (I'm assuming we're off the coast of South Africa) while lighting up a flame dart has got to be more badass (and good for you) than anything rocky ever did in a training montage

Guys the silent runner we have in the lab has really bad gas.  Yesterday was talking to one of the engineers and he was all:

Engineer:  Ya I was in the lab machining this part and Dan comes in and rips one.  Smelled awful.  Then he grabs the compressed air and starts spraying it all around.  He fogged me with his fart!

Emo:  Imagine being in submarine with him.

Engineer:  LOLOLOL
