they're senior heavy, for sure.  but some of their underclassmen look fine.  and they apparently have a couple of four stars signed.  maybe they still need to do well in the spring, and maybe that's a bit of a red flag, but i don't see why he'd run from that.  not to lsu.

the lesson people should take from this is that it's stupid to try to underpay coaches.

2nd in the state
8th in the conference
around 40th nationally

Edit: also what MIR said about the hotel cheapskate thing.

How are these other schools underpaying good coaches yet we are overpaying for a bad coach?

LSU has infinitely more tradition and history than flood aggie, they're just in some epic slumber ala kstate 1992-2007. Plus, winning the SEC is far easier than the big 12

Florida or Kentucky have won the league the last 8 years. It might be easier, but unseating one of those 2 looks just as difficult unseating the one team in our league for the near future.

Also, 2nd in the SEC hasn't gotten better than a 4 seed in that span. Meanwhile in the Big 12 has had 1/3/4, 1/2/3/4, 2/3/3/3, 2/3, 1/4, 2/2/3 seeds the last 6 seasons.

Just saw that UW hired Syracuse's hciw. Is that not a bit short sighted as he will probably head back when Boeheim leaves? Or possibly risky for him if he flounders at UW?

I know you can't turn down the money. I wouldn't. Just my two thoughts on the matter.

Remember Mushy leaving Texas after Mack decided to stay another year?  If you are perpetually "in waiting" I could see the move.  This seems like it would be a big enough program that he wouldn't necessary bolt back, I would for sure agree if he went mid major.

It might be a little risky, but still worthwhile.  If Muschamp had been successful at Florida, Texas probably would have made a big push for him when Mack got forced out.  But even if that happened, that means you have a much more attractive program (with more active donors/fan support) for a new head coach to take over.

If oSu hires Doug Gottlieb after hiring Brad Underwood it would make me furious with Currie all over again.

I welcome the chance for goEMAW to prove Currie wrong in yet another way.

Yeah, it's easier to win in the sec. It's like playing in the nortard every year, except you can drive not more than 100 miles from campus to recruit and still rake talent.

When was the last time a HCIW (FB or BB) actually went on to be the HC at the school that made him HCIW?

I think you missed my point. It may be a bit easier to win in the SEC, but no one is really taking advantage of it. Also, "winning" in the SEC doesn't mean as much, if you finish 2nd in the league you are looking at a 4 seed at best. Finish 3rd and maybe you will get a 7. Too much of the league is no good and even with these hotbeds of talent, few coaches can take advantage of it and it continually remain average at best. Of course, perhaps the benefit is most schools don't care and Georgia will keep a guy like Fox for 8 seasons and Ole Miss will keep Kennedy for 11. Simply put, if you aren't going to coach at Kentucky or Florida the current make up of the SEC shows that you will be choosing a mediocre basketball school to be a mediocre coach.

if it were easier to recruit and win in the sec, people would be recruiting better and winning more there.

He kind of has been, but the last two seasons he's been pretty good. Will be interesting to see if he can put together a run of NCAAs now.

It will be interesting. If UK can hold on and have 3 SEC teams in the sweet sixteen that would be nice.

frank is losing his best player (who grew up in usc's backyard) to the nba.  next year will be very telling.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

is thornwell an nba player?  i never thought he was; watched at least parts of around 10 usc games this year.  his stats suggest he might have a chance, high orating to go with high usage, 83% ft, 39% 3%, 6'5".

the only other player they lose is notice, who is no loss.  dunno what newcomers they have coming in, but they look like they should maintain at about this level.
