For the hawks to make it past the second round. Seriously can you really expect the #1 team in the nation to just beat the Missouri Valley Conference champs?!?

Why It Is Not Surprising...

To win the NCAA you need a whole bunch to go in your favor and KU got none-starting with their draw....
Bad Bracket - Northern Iowa won the Missouri Valley regular season and conference tournament. They only lost 4 times this year and are senior laden. It is a bit silly for them to be a 9 seed and my guess is they will show up in the final 4. This team is better then Ohio state.
No Breaks - Pretty much every break in this game went the other teams way. That is why the NCAA tournament is a total crap shoot. The fouls and balls did NOT go our way from the very start.
Had the Weight of the World. This team was tight and that is likely Bill's fault. The expectation on this team to be honest were not realistic. But it showed on Thursday and today.
This is NOT a Great Team. 2008 team was great and would beat this team pretty badly. This team had a very good year, but the reality is we did not beat ANY good team badly. NOT ONE. We won a lot of close games, but we did not have the talent or ability to beat teams down this year. THAT IS A FACT. Eventually that catches up with you.
Underdog Had Nothing to Lose - They came out loose and aggressive and we were on our heals this entire game. WE DID NOT DESERVE TO WIN. THEY WERE A BETTER TEAM. We maybe had better players - but as a team - they kicked our rears in almost ever facet of this game.
Never Had Great Chemistry. This team was good, but never had great chemistry. Even Bill said this team never was able to put its foot on the throat of opponents.
All and all it was still a very good year. Big 12 champs. Big 12 tourny champs. 30 wins But unfortunately, this lose does overshadow those accomplishments a bit - as this team was ultimately going to be judged by its NCAA run - an that is obviously a failure. This is probably the worst NCAA loss in KU history - given its seed (although we have now the record with 3 2nd round loses as a 1 seed).
We may be pretty good next year - but i am not convinced we will be great. I still do not see it with this team make-up.
As for losing Cole and Henry - hope they stay, but not sure it matters a ton. If I were them, i would take the 1st round money and go pro. Coming back for an NCAA run is a total crap shoot - unless they would be a much higher pick next year - they would be silly to simply stay for another shot at the NCAA. Look, Sherron stayed for another shot at the title and they got ousted in the 2nd round...
