Home pool tables
« on: August 06, 2015, 01:08:50 AM »
Guys, I want to put a nice pool table in my finished basement. Looks like a standard 8-foot will not do. Any advice on a 7-foot bar size table?  TIA

Are you sure there is adequate space for it?

If it's like the ones I have observed, you will average maybe 4 games a year, after the first year.

My bro has a $4500 table (brobrag?) and we play every time I am at his house. I don't know the brand. (Obviously one piece slate)

I got one two weeks ago.  my fam has played it every night, but two, since.  The reason it works for us is that my wife likes pool almost as much as I do, and our kids picked it up super quick and really like it too.

Also, don't buy new.  Buy on craigslist(dont get killed, though).  We got a Brunswick.  It's not real slate, either, it's Slatec, which is lighter, but still plays like any other nice pool table I have played on.  It was also something I could move with one other guy, rather than paying some company $500-$600 to move and set up.  This is what I would recommend.  If you play it a bunch over a couple year period, upgrade to a different table.

The brunswich Slatec is available in the smaller bar-sized tables(what I bought).  We have played it a lot and it is great.  No weird spots on the roll, no bumper issue, etc.  Plays great.

This seems like good info. Looking into it. Thanks much, CNS.
